You are very close. There is no certainty of which island he landed at but the general consensus is that it was San Salvador Island, which is a little nothing place about 150 miles ESE of the southern tip on Florida. I've been there. Great diving but it is tiny and off the beaten path. Spent about ten years sailing on small cruise ships and have been literally everywhere in the Caribbean. I promise you there is nowhere down there that considers themselves part of North America
I was also taught that Columbus discovered America. Certainly folks in towns named after him thought the same thing.

If you've been to Story, you've been to Stone Head but just didn't know it. SH is at "the T" on your way to Story which is 5 miles farther down HW 135. We own the tourist home rental there, the old farmhouse where the stone head marker was before the head was vandalized two years ago and still missing. I've owned a home just south of there for 19 years. Yes, I like it here because I enjoy nature.
I won't be able to watch the game today live. Wife is making me take her to Huber's Orchard and Winery about 1 1/2 hours south of here. Guys with wives who love IU sports are extra lucky. I hate that I have to DVD the game. It's a beautiful day for a football game but unfortunately for a lifelong IU fan, a beautiful day for Huber's, too. Speaking of Huber's, I read online where they will be closing. The family is in a squabble and some of the kids would rather cash out...take the money and run. Others want to try and keep it open with a GoFundMe page and a 1.2 mil. goal. Good luck to them with that one. I mention Huber's because IU traditionally has a basketball alumni event there every year. One of the owners was tragically killed last summer while mowing the lawn and I think that threw the business into in a tizzy with some not having the required work ethic needed to take his place. Anyway, I'll be checking the IU score periodically on my ESPN phone ap. That's the best I can do today. Go Hoosiers!
The Democratic party isn't the party of equal opportunity. If they were there wouldn't be affirmative action, etc. They would also allow school choice and improve police in crime ridden areas so minorities actually have a chance to not be killed or hooked on drugs. They also wouldn't incentivize women to kick the father out of the household so they can get more money from welfare. THAT is a major reason why poor communities are doing poorly and kids aren't faring well.
