I think you're right but Brian is better.
For me, Brian is smarter and lacks the two dead zones Grail has (the animated bit and the ending). Grail is more unafraid to throw everything against the wall in hopes of laughter. More like Airplane. I appreciate that. Brian is the better movie, Grail is funnier.

Airplane for the win.

AFI top 10 comedies. I agree with several of them being on the list, but The Graduate and Tootsie are questionable to me. Not bad movies, not great comedies. Certainly needed Holy Grail added in, and Blazing Saddles is top 3 even accounting for others not fully appreciating great comedy.

I’m saying this as a half assed liberal but the two cross dressing (trans) films are 1 and 2. Come on. Tootsie? What a ridiculous stretch. It’s not even the funniest Hoffman film.

I knew it was clickbait and I still clickbaited.

I liked it. I thought it was a fitting ending for almost all of the major characters. Greg got lost in the shuffle, but otherwise, very strong.
I loved the sticker on his head. Read a ton of reviews and interpretations. Still not sure of Shiv’s motivation. Closer to power with Tom? Just to prevent Kendall out of spite or because she truly thought he’d be bad? I knew Mattsen was going to screw her.

Go ahead and queue up "The Curious Case of Natalia Grace" on MAX. I'd forgotten all about this. Damn, Westfield. These weirdos AND Herb Baumeister? Calm down.

Edit: Wow that got dark.

Edit 2: Finished the first three eps. Holy moly. These might well and truly be the worst people on the planet.

Not sure if this has been discussed in this beast of a thread but, I just started watching 'Dark' on Netflix. It's a German creepy, mystery, time traveling, sci fy, 'small town disturbance that they don't want to get out there so there's some small town censorship' season series.

It's like a hot dish made up of themes from The Outsider, The Leftovers, Mare of Easttown, It and Stranger Things.

Anyway this internet tv buff gave it his highest recommendation so I gave it a shot and I gotta admit, 3 episodes in and I'm pretty hooked.

It's in German so you have to have the subtitles but, I've always preferred that with foreign films because the natural emotions match better with the native language (vs having it translated into English).

Alan Menken’s original Little Mermaid was maybe the best scored Disney film of all time. A true masterpiece. Let’s check in on how things are going now.

Yikes! A culture in decline we are indeed. Lin Manuel Miranda is a musical plague.

No comments on the final episode of Ted Lasso yet? I pulled a twofer last night as I watched the final episode of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (another great show) followed by Ted Lasso. Needless to say, I am really dragging today.

I am definitely not going to spoil it for those who have yet to watch the final Ted Lasso. But, not surprisingly, they knocked it out of the park (is there a soccer equivalent for that saying?). The opening scene alone may be one of the best of the entire series.

Also, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is absolutely worth watching. You will be hooked from the first episode - which is rare even for series that turn out to be great.

Personally, I would put Ted Lasso and Mrs. Maisel in my top-15 favorite TV series (Ted Lasso is probably in my top-5).

I can't watch it until tomorrow night, but I am really looking forward to it. It has been my favorite show the last 3 years, I am sad to see it leave.

My plans fell through so I could watch it tonight. First, it was overly sentimental, as finals tend to be. But I loved the heck out of it, it worked. That Cat Stevens song is so perfect for it.

I just watched tonight also. Will watch Mrs. Maisel final season next. The last couple episodes saved the season of Ted Lasso for me. Thought it was not very good until then. A review I read mentioned something I thought, that so much happened that they didn’t show. Like Ted actually telling the team he was leaving, Nathan saying he was coming back, and a few other things. I suppose it’s supposed to be ambiguous if Ted and his ex are getting back. I did really like the finale and the last couple episodes though.

I liked mrs Maisel a lot, particularly the ancillary characters. Then somewhere along the way maisel became annoying to me and I stopped liking it as much. Not sure what it was about her. Haven’t checked out the new season

What about Selling Sunset?

Very little real estate and lots of fighting and great clothes totally unsuitable for the profession. One of Nick Cannon’s baby mamas added to the cast.
I’m in. I do genuinely love the real estate tho. I watch the other one with Josh Altman and all them. Flipping out was my favorite

My main issue with the ending was the change in Ted's personality. I mean Rebecca poured her heart out to him twice as did Nate and he was like 'cool story bro'.

The team put together this huge goodbye and he was like 'good job'.

Even though I'm pretty sure Beard's wedding was him dreaming on his flight, everyone but Ted was in it.

Plus there were a lot of arcs that got rushed....Nate's redemption fell flat to me. I wish they would have expounded on him leaving West Ham.

Jamie had a huge redemption arc only to go against it for a pretty weak 'I love Keeley' bit.

I was waiting for Ted to explain his tonal change as either he hates goodbyes (but that would be stealing from the office) or that his overly optimistic persona was in large part because he was completely broken over his family and used it as a denial/defense mechanism (which is why nothing bothered him as far as insults, because he really didn't care about it) but it was the team, the therapy and observing his mother last week that made him realize what he was doing and this is the more real Ted trying to disassociate, maybe?

I did love all of the callbacks and tributes that tied so many inside jokes together (ie Ted and Rebecca wearing the same outfit as when they first met). Going back to Nate's original play that Jamie had to sell as a decoy, Ted finally able to recognize when a player is off sides, Keeley with her 'is everybody decent' line as she walked into the locker room, the original coach being the opposing coach and having his nuts pop out of his shorts, etc. Even liked the Geronimo picture nod to Cheers (George Wendt is Sudeikis's uncle).

Edit: redacted for potential direct spoiler

Anyway, loved the series. One of my favorite of all time.

They've left it open to continue so that was probably the most important detail. Probably will come back as 'AFC Richmond'.

Also loved that I got my happy ending from the team and was able to watch the community go nuts (and the goals were entertaining also). I thought that was a great way to celebrate a supposed championship while eventually not actually winning it.

A very original wonderfully positive show. I love it. That said I think it wasn’t sure whether it wanted to be a light easy comedy or a drama and got a little lost

I agree. Season 3 seemed like the storylines were starting to run out of ideas, particularly with Keeley's story.

Colin's arc was pretty transparent with season 2 and I thought the way they wrote his outing was absolutely fantastic. It made me reevaluate my stance as I've always been an 'I don't care that your gay, it's none of my business' guy.

His story about his friend that watched the Denver Broncos win back to back super bowls by himself really hit me.

Fair criticisms

Bravo. That was indeed a very poignant scene that hopefully made all of us who watched think a bit more about “I don’t care.”

I think much of your Ted criticisms can be answered by "it was never about me", which I think was the perfect closure. Ted getting emotional would have made it about him. Plus, I think he had achieved peace in his decision.

I loved the Geronimo picture, though honestly I was hoping for Norm in the background of the bar drinking a beer.

I think there will be a spinoff. They created possible lines. One could be about the bar and it's patrons, a nod to Cheers which was a nod to Fawlty Towers. Another would be the new women's soccer team. And of course the Roy Kent led Richmond.
