Have you been to a concert at Red Rocks? It was a bucket list finally checked off last year. Amazing venue.
Red Rocks during the day is a usual tourist stop with out of town guests. The restaurant up there is very cool for Sunday brunch. Last concert I saw there was the new ABBA. Over the years saw John Denver 2 or 3 times, the Colorado Symphony a few times, and some space thing with Wm Shatner. Some others I don’t remember. The Fort, a nearby 5 star restaurant is also very cool with amazing views.

Watched the first episode of The Last of Us on HBO. Really good. First twenty minutes are intense. I had to pause it. No spoilers.

I never played the video game but this looks like Walking Dead on steroids and a better story.
I think it’s only on PlayStation. Ours broke. Down to just Xbox. We’re a joke tho. We wouldn’t make it ten minutes on that game. I ordered the newest call of duty and we gave up in 19 minutes. I timed it

I’ll watch this after it racks up a few. I can’t wait a week for shows anymore

An interesting tidbit from the MASH Matters podcast, Bob Newhart was asked to be Father Mulcahy. He told this sometime in the past on a podcast Bob Saget had.

Finally finished watching season 2 of For All Mankind (Apple+). Great show, and I cannot wait for season 3.

For anyone unfamiliar, the series is a semi-alternative history of the U.S. and Russian space programs. Not to give too much away, but the basic premise is that the space race continues in earnest well beyond the first moon landing. As a result, U.S. and Russia space activities progress significantly further than in real life; so much so that season 3 appears to have a man on Mars in 1995. There are some really great characters in the show, with some portraying actual people (e.g., Deke Slayton) and others loosely based on actual people (e.g., Gordo Stevens, based on Gordon Cooper).

Apple+ is really producing solid shows. Their goal is clearly quality over quantity, similar to HBO I suppose. Dickinson is pretty good, and obviously Ted Lasso is as good as it gets.

Great call Noods. I bookmarked it and finally started watching it.
Thanks!

While I wouldn't ever want to disparage the great Gary Burghoff, I would have loved to have seen Newhart in the Radar role.

Has anyone seen Blackbird on Apple? Became aware of it at Golden Globes. Just seen two episodes ( out of 6) but very good. Based on a true story of a serial killer in Indiana.

Have you seen it?
Tragically, at least two episodes. I'm not sure which ones they were. I was on my phone but it caused me to look up in disgust. Whatever the recent ish ones were. My wife (oddly) loves Scooby Doo (the original and the campy movie). I think she'll move to hate watching which just means it will stay on the air ( according to Reddit anyway).

Edit: Must have been the first two. Here's a write up of the most recent episodes.

"This episode deals with the aftermath of Daphne and Velma kissing at the end of episode 2. . .
Velma and Daphne agree to stay friends as they have too many mysteries to solve, but Velma makes it very clear she’s both attracted to Daphne and Fred, with the end result seeming to imply this version of Velma will be Pan or Bi."

Is she going to make out with Scooby Doo?

Apropos of nothing but I’m half watching Sicario* and just realized that Daniel Kaluuya’s character is named Reggie Wayne. Hilarious.

*also, besides Travolta has any actor had a better rebound from near obscurity than Josh Brolin?

It was bad, but it turns out the ratings were through the roof.
So I lowered my expectations and poured a stiff drink and watched the rest of it. It's bad. But it's not bad all the time. Mostly it's not bad when John Laroquette has lines. I was continually reminded why the first show won him all those Emmys. Guy's comedic timing is impeccable.

But the writing will really need to improve if this show is to survive. I understand the first couple of episodes were all just exposition. Just a way to introduce the characters and give an excuse for Dan Fielding still being around. But eventually they have to progress the show, and they won't do that with writing this subpar.

If this was on one of the streaming services, it might well work. Network writing has gone downhill. There are only so many excellent writers.

Anybody watch The Leftovers? Just started tonight in it. Only 28 episodes. Does it actually finish or just end because they ran out of budget or energy?

Never heard of it. So I Googled it. Yeah, 140 million is a lot of people, but unless it's concentrated it would hardly be a global cataclysm.

I'm fun at parties too.

Actually you kinda hit the point of the first episode. They’re trying to move on from the disappearance. And yeah you’re like, sure it sucks but 98% of us are still here. It’s kinda cool how they capture some cracks at the margins of society.
