We watched episode 1 of Poker Face. It has amazingly good reviews, and its Columbo take is certainly something to attract me to it. But I was a little disappointed, it wasn't bad, but ep 1 wasn't great. Maybe it will get better as I become better acquainted with the character.
She’s annoying to me. Not sure why. Watch mr inbetween

Is it appropriate for kids? We were excited about watching it, and then my wife read the CommonSense rating for the first episode and said no way. We all like Knives Out and Glass Onion and my daughter is obsessed with mysteries.

They did skimp on character development, I am thinking the director viewed the war as the main character and not Paul.

I wish they had named it something else, other than the names and a couple scenes, it had nothing to do with All Quiet. Though one of the best scenes was their teacher addressing them, which was taken from the book.
I've never read the book or seen the other movie. It was a well-made war film. But the theme, etc. I've seen many times before. I'm a little surprised it's nominated for best film.

To the extent that it wanted to show that, in the trenches, we're all alike, I think the film succeeds because you could easily put those guys in French unis, have French translations, and you don't lose anything. But I guess I don't think that's all that accurate--they should have had a little more psychology of why Germany thought it was in the right, etc. especially with the people at the top. That is, I didn't really learn that much about the German people in that film, which I was disappointed about.

I didn't watch it with an eye for that, but I don't think so.

If you want to look for a series I like that is probably appropriate, look up Midsomer Murders. It is streamed free on Tubi, I think it is the longest running BBC show (maybe second to Who).

Not sure my son is going to go for BBC stuff. He needs it more slick and modern. I've failed there.

The Peripheral (Amazon) is cool. Probably best for 16+ though.

Chloe Grace Moritz...............I remember her as a child star so you might feel uncomfortable. I'm sure your son will be fine however.

Watched the bill Russell documentary on Netflix. It was good. The numbers some of those guys used to put up were crazy. Some cool footage of the old Kiel here too. I don’t think I had ever seen it before. Bill was a cool dude. He has a line about his dad working that’s hilarious. I won’t spoil it

@Marvin the Martian the opening of clarkson's farm 2. and tho it's been a year there have been some changes. the ruinously expensive sheep are now being looked after by an actual sheep farmer down the road. i provide the equipment and the sheep. he does the work. and then we share the losses. bwahahahaha. last spoiler

I am starting it tomorrow, looking forward. It has been cancelled after this because of his Markle comments.

Yep, his contract ends at the end of the year, nothing new will be done.

He screwed up, his comments were extreme.
Yes I just looked it up. Yikes. Way over the line. I’m on the second episode and have literally belly laughed twice. Tears in my eyes. He’s certainly got that it factor - just a way with every day people. To make what should be the mundane immensely watchable and at times hilarious is an art. Like Anthony Bourdain and a few others. Not too many really

He is brilliant, he just self destructs. That is sad. This was a totally unforced error.

PSA: Clarkson's Farm - Season 2 is now out on Prime Video. Kaleb, Gerald (72 yo), and Charlies are back, and the sheep have been replaced by cows. Apparently so many people were flocking (😉) to the Diddly Squat farm shop that it caused a three mile long traffic jam.

It's a great watch.

Ok I guess this is next on my list. Doesn’t seem my kind of show but I’ll give it a try.

He’s in a hot pepper kitchen and his conversation with the cook had me literally in tears. Then this 72 year old guy talking on the walkie talkie to Jeremy is comedic gold. The kid on the show Caleb you will love.

It’s just an interesting, funny, great show

Apparently there will still be a third season after this one, but nothing more after that.

I watched most of it. I didn't think it was made well at all. Documentaries are made better now, and it reminded me of boring doc. you would watch as a kid in school.
The line about his dad giving them the next worse years was great.
I think they tried to put too much info into....and it didn't work.

That’s interesting. I watched it while on my computer. I didn’t know anything about him or much about hoops then so I found the footage etc interesting. Crazy how skinny players were back then

I am 3 episodes in, love it. The crazy thing about this/Top Gear/Grand Tour, the cinematography is outstanding. I don't know why American shows are not able to be so beautiful.

I have learned a lot about farming.

I about pissed my pants laughing when he was in the kitchen with the peppers and asked Thomas how long he’s been doing that and he said 9 years! Hilarious.

Yes beautiful cinematography. And a beautiful place. Farming seems impossibly hard and susceptible to the vagaries of so much stuff that’s out of your control. It looks and seems idyllic but in reality next to impossible

For reasons passing understanding, I convinced myself that my late night film tonight should be I Am Legend. I'm not sure there's a better example in film history of a movie ruining a book. I can't begin to describe how much I wish I had those two hours back so I could just go to sleep. What an abomination.

Had you somehow avoided seeing this movie in the last fifteen years or so?

So I didn't go back and check, but I imagine I'm late to the party when pointing out how enjoyable watching "The Great" is? I've had a Hulu account that I've paid for for years and never really watched, but after seeing vids of scenes on you tube I checked it out and it is hilarious...

And since I started checking out Hulu, I've discovered that they have finally completed the long awaited sequel to the Mel Brooks classic...

As a hot sauce maker I cracked up at that scene. From my own experience I am convinced that stainless steel makes the fumes even worse. If I dump any chili waste in our SS sink we need to evacuate the kitchen. Will be growing Carolina Reapers again this year along with about 25 other varieties. Been spending this afternoon ordering my seeds.

The line “tomorrow your ass will look like a Japanese flag” was hilarious (a bit tasteless, but hilarious)

Never read the book so I thought the movie was OK. Are you watching The Last of Us? Like most HBO efforts, I think it’s really good.

That's awesome. Like I said when they couldn't stop coughing and he said he had been there 9 years and jeremy lost it i was in tears. so you and your fam can take pretty hot stuff! i went to the pepper palace (i'm sure it's a chain) in sarasota and did their free sample test. i couldn't get past what they classified as "mild."

My oldest and me are the only ones who eat the hot stuff. Not familiar with the Pepper Palace. Need to check them out. If you’re looking for some really tasty but not over the top hot sauce, look for Yellowbird. Their sriracha puts that other crap to shame. https://www.yellowbirdfoods.com/

Secret Aardvark is another good one. https://secretaardvark.com/
