I got blindsided. She had Belfast queued up when I got home with the pizza. A real WTF???

Movie sucked too.
You just don’t have enough culture. It was definitely slow…. Little kid was cute though. Didn’t see your post until too late.

What's this culture shit you speak of?

Sorry, it was all artsy fartsy and pretty and all that and the actors were all appealing, but there was no there there. It really didn't even have a freaking plot. When it was over I was like WTF? That's it?

Can we talk about Severance? I know a couple here have seen it. If you haven’t, put it on your list. Premise is that a company takes volunteers to sever their work life from their home life. When they are either place, they have no memory of the other. Starts a little slow, but builds and finale was very tense and satisfying, but definitely wanting more. Phenomenal acting , with Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Tuturto, Christopher Walken and some good supporting actors. Definitely worth getting Apple for a month to watch, IMO. 9 episodes.

Ha ha. I know. Almost all the academy nominees were like that this year. All artsy fartsy and no real storyline. Coda being the exception. Have you seen Power of the Dog? Lots of people felt the same about it.

I just looked it up. It's the 50 kinds of sex main guy. Your bride put you in her trickbag. As an aside we just watched a weird series with him called The Tourist

I've mentioned before the boss is an Anglophile, likes to think of herself as a Brit once removed, and likes Brit TV and knows all kinds of Brit actors and TV personalities and such. Between that, all the accolades, and Judy Dench playing a role, she thought she wanted to see it. She's not admitting it might have been a letdown, though, and I'm not about to bust her chops on it.

Caitriona Balfe is a babe, though.

The only thing I cared for about Belfast was the music.

We went for the no brainer last night and watched Red Notice after some time around the fire pit, drinking palomas.

The tourist was weird but good. The Australian chick was a smoke show.

If she’s an Anglophile, have you ever seen Shaun of the Dead? ;)

I fell asleep watching the first episode

Ok, would like to take the family to see a movie in the “theater” today but honestly there just isn’t much IMO that I would like to see. My girls are 11, 15, 16. The one I’m afraid everyone would like is Fantasic Beasts. Everyone besides me that is…so there’s two movies I’ve identified I’m considering taking the family to, unfortunately both are rated R. I will let them see R movies with me but I’m usually somewhat selective. The two in the theatres I’m interested is is the Outfit and Everything Everywhere All At Once. My dad saw the Outfit and said it’s really good and reminds him of the Usual Suspects. The other movie has gotten very good reviews and sounds like a twisted comedy I would probably like. Apparently there’s butt plugs inside a character to redeem her special powers. Stupid shit like that. Some reviewers claim this movie has comedic genius. Perhaps questionable for the kids but I prefer this over showing them violence. Anyone seen this second movie?

I have an 11 year old. We don't watch Rs but we watch anything rated PG13. It's opened doors bc finding things we all want to watch is a struggle, particularly series'. The Disney plus Star Wars shows have been a boon. Stranger Things fires back up this summer. Raising Dion. A few others

A couple WW2 movie/series rumors. Hanks is bringing a sequel to Greyhound to Apple. Also the LONG awaited Hanks/Spielberg series Masters of the Air is expected to be on Apple by the end of the year. This is on the 8th Air Force.

Every branch has its moments of "damn, I would not have wanted to serve then and there" during WW2. The first year or so of the 8th flying missions is on that list. Sure, they were able to sleep on beds in England, but the percentage killed doing their day job was extreme. Given how well done Band of Brothers and The Pacific was, Masters should be an instant classic.

Time to watch 12 O'Clock high again. Anyone know if the series streams?

Yea the challenge is always finding movies that are appropriate for high school and middle school ages at the same time.

I was in Baton Rogue and was fortunate to tour the USS Kidd where the ship scenes from Greyhound was filmed. I was amazed at some of the compact spaces where crew members slept and ate. Ship was actually in the Pacific Ocean for WW2. Stood on the deck where kamikaze hit it killing 34.

Yes. Talked about it a few up. You might like it but definitely not for kids. One of the strangest and most creative movies I’ve ever seen. Not sure even if I liked it or not. That weird.

You’re right , not much out now. It’s a slow period before we get slammed with summer movies. Lost City maybe?

So we ended up seeing the Outfit tonight at the arts theatre here in Indy. Really solid film. As my dad mentioned, it did remind me of the Usual Suspects. Some similarities in the story telling. Highly recommend the movie if it’s playing in your city. I think I saw it may be streaming now too.

Binged "The Leftovers" during the last few weeks. Very strange show, but very entertaining. The acting was outstanding, especially by Scott Glenn. The reviews mostly read that Season 1 was a little grim (yes), but Seasons 2 and 3 were some of the best on television. That can be debated, but I really liked it.
I know I am very late to the party, but recently, I bought some Airpods, and thought to myself, "Self, you need to join the podcast bandwagon". So I did, and I'm hooked on "Stuff You Should Know".

SYSK is great. Useless fact - Josh and I went to the same grade school, albeit a few years apart. They actually had a sitcom based on the podcast back in 2013.
