Mild spoilers it says, but exciting

Great, great show. Just finished the series, on the recommendation of people here. Can’t wait for the final season.

Find it hard to believe that everyone smoked about a thousand cigarettes an episode. I’m assuming, however, that heavy smoking was common during that era.

Also looking forward to the second half of the final season of Ozark and the last season of Better Call Saul. After that, I have to find something new.

Pachinko
Severance
Station 11
Are all great. The Last Days of Ptolemy Gray has been pretty good too. Slow Horses is only one episode in but very promising…

Ditto on all three. Those are the three I'm waiting on. Then summer hits so you don't really need shows as badly. What sucks is that Better Call Saul will be weekly releases

I was going to mention Station 11. Excellent show.

Pachinko book was one of my favorites. Looking forward to series.

They're not actually smoking cigarettes on set. They add in smoke post-production and/or use herbal cigarettes (no, not that kind of herb)

Pussies.

Currently halfway through Dan Jones' Power and Thrones: A New History of the Middle Ages. So far, I've come across very little that would be enlightening to anyone who has a previous interest in the subject. However, it's written very accessibly, so anyone who wants to read history, but doesn't want it to be dense, will find it interesting. And there are a few tidbits here and there that were new to me, and I imagine the same will be true for others, even those already versed in the time period (for me, I found the bits about Cluny and the power of the monastic network to be fascinating).

Edit: Oh yeah:

I think this is the weakest year for Oscar nominees I can remember. Almost all art house films, except for West Side Story. I’ve seen all and none blew me away. My favorite, C’mon C’mon wasn’t nominated. Nightmare Alley is creepy, compelling, and well acted. I’m hoping some of this is pandemic related . I love going to theaters to see a movie, but with everyone basically having home theaters, I’m not sure they will survive.
We watched CODA last night. Not a “great” movie but an enjoyable watch. I thought the acting was pretty solid and I liked the scenes were they gave the perspective of being deaf.

I started watching it last night as well (had to stop because it was getting too late). I think it's outstanding. Troy Katsur absolutely deserved the Oscar he won. And Emilia Jones is going to be a superstar. I was floored to find out that she learned ASL in just 9 months - and even managed to do it without any hint of her British accent. ;)

OK I finished watching CODA. In all seriousness it is absolutely one of the finest movies I have ever seen. It’s perfection, and I want to watch it again

it’s hard to explain but this movie moved me, deeply.

And no Tinder at the table!

The scene when they cut the audio and Ruby and Miles were performing was great. My first reaction was c'mon! I want to hear them sing! It's the climactic moment of the film and you cut the audio?!? But, I quickly realized what the writers were so brilliantly conveying.

And, of course, it was not the climactic moment of the film at all. Juxtapose what happens about 1/3 into Ruby's final song and what happens about 1/3 into her duet. Great stuff

I saw Everything, Everywhere All at Once this weekend and I’m still processing it. Truly like nothing I’ve ever seen. Michelle Yeo stars and is phenomenal. Too many fight scenes for me, but lots of other interesting story lines. Some of the reviews are movie of the decade positive. Extremely creative but definitely not for everyone.

I need a recommendation. It's our anniversary, and being the romantics we are we're doing takeout pizza and a movie at home. I don't care what it is, I just need a movie (Netflix or Prime).

SWMBO liked Reacher. She likes the Terminator movies. She likes anything Star Trek. She likes Brit police procedurals. We watch a lot of Silent Witness (a Brit cops/pathologists series). So anything that sounds like it might be something she'd like would be appreciated.

Bump. Need a little help here people...

Ryan Reynolds is in a couple of Netflix movies right now. One with the Rock. Might be good eye candy and they look amusing.

F off. You must be hung like a blue whale or you're hiding something. A guy who has trained his bride to be happy with take out pizza and action movies on her anniversary doesn't need help
