Maybe not the national level, but Purdue is the all time winning team in Big Ten History, 25 Conference championships. Should be favored to win No. 26 next year! Have won more games than any other team in the Big Ten history 1912 to IU 1909. Have a winning record against all teams in the Big Ten. Purdue is 1912 W vs 1058 L . IU is 1909 w vs 1106 L. Thats Purdue at winning % .644, IU at .633 winning %! So yeah, Purdue is no. 1 of all teams in BT history! Purdue has a proud program if you look at their history! With the best overall record in BT history! Congrats on your 5 NC's, but Purdue earned the NO. 1 spot in BT History!
Purdue isnt on networks? How do I watch them then? Also, you got #1 unc due to preseason rankings. Shouldn't rank teams until January 1st at the earliest. Preseason rankings are a joke. Other states, away from Indiana, see Purdue and iu as similar.
Hey Jimbo, since when do we consider beating purdont “good with it”. We haven’t done anything in freaking years, man. All we talk about is beating them recently in basketball and IU sucks. Wow, are you really that thick, or just obtuse? I have no idea what cable package you have. I have Youtube TV and saw every single IU game this year, but not all were on the national networks. And, aren't you in IN? That is also not necessarily a national game. I'm in NC and obviously the local execs don't believe PU was relevant enough to show on the local affiliate, even when you were ranked #1. Oh yeah, except when you played IU (and in fairness, I think they showed one other PU game, maybe MSU?)!
No. Definitely not in Indiana. Left southern Indiana years ago. Found way better places. Have had a few other stops, but currently live in the land of izzo.
Nobody at all outside of the 765 area code cares about that. Literally. More than half of Purdue's B10 titles came before the bombing of Pearl Harbor. That was so long ago that I don't even remember it.....and I'm old as shit. There is not one single unbiased person that would consider Purdue the best B10 team in history. Not one. The University of Chicago has more recognized NCAA D1 titles than Purdue....and they left the B10 in 1946.
Purdue is a skid mark on the B10 and the only reason they are still a member is because they were one of the founding fathers.
Yeah, it gets so hard to remember if old stuff counts or not with Boilers. Our banners are dusty with most dating to the mid 70s, and yet most of their accomplishments were before 1940.
To me, anything beyond the last 10-15 years is irrelevant. And it's a moving scale. So next year, the last 10‐15, and so on. Because today will be irrelevant in 10-15 years. Honestly, probably sooner. Butler was national runner up 13 and 12 years ago. Tbh, feels irrelevant in today's game.
It will be interesting to see. Many IU fans willing to die on the hill of the NCAAs is the only thing that determines success. Coach A is better than coach B because he went to a final four and the other guy an elite eight.
Completely discounting the regular season is a Sith attitude in many ways.
It’s certainly easy to make fun of a team that hasn’t been to a final four since 1980, got Peacocked last year and FD’d this year. But, as bad as they’ve been in the NCAAs (ignoring their elite eight and sweet sixteens), I’d feel better about the folks willing to die on that hill if I were more confident in IU as an ncaa tournament team going forward.
Hopefully someday we make it to another final four.

Come on! PU experiences the worst loss in NCAAT history and possibly sporting history, is a national joke, cannot beat mid-majors when it counts, and got swept: too funny! What? Honest question, why do I care abound something that happened 10 years ago? It's irrelevant in most aspects of life. I enjoy basketball, but if it was permanently cancelled tomorrow, I'd say that sucks and move on. That's why the Purdue loss took my 5 seconds to get over before I went on the have a fun evening out on the town.
Sure. Spin that however you want to fit your narrative. If that's what helps you feel better. But I'd say the same about being #1, winning the big ten, etc. Took me about 5 seconds to be excited then move on. Maybe you will one day reach the point where you see more to life than something you have no control over. Hope so. Enjoy the moments and continue living as opposed to dwell.

I'm usually not to far off in my projections. Missed in basketball this year. Think I had iu, Illinois, msu, Purdue top 4. Had Purdue and um in the big ten football championship. Had Nebraska and Minnesota below their football hype. Call it like I see it, with a little extra love towards Purdue.

I encounter quite a few people who don't even realize Purdue is located in Indiana.
They allow people to be outwardly racist and LGBT-phobic so I assume nothing registers for them. Pretty pathetic to come into your rivals boards and argue incessantly, HUGE little brother syndrome. Disappointed with people still engaging with them too but it seems many live on the forum.

Purdue’s history in no way compares to Michigan State’s, Michigan’s, or Wisconsin’s in recent decades. Being the best in a 14 team conference is meaningless. National championships define a program.
Being old has its benefits if you have an objective memory. When you do not carefully parse your words you might recall thing like the dominant IU teams in 1975-76 blew out Purdue once and the other three were decided by less than 4 points. And over a period of almost 20 years your greatest challenges came against Purdue when Knight vs Keady were virtually even money and GK actually had a 1 game edge head to head. I am somebody who thinks respect is earned and if a person is objective you can conclude as I do that you Love your school, you love to beat your rival, but there is nobody you respect and fear more than your rivals. Like relatives, you can choose your opponents but you can’t choose their rivals. Some choose to hate the institution, the town. The coaches, the players, the teams and the fans. That is pure insanity in my view because they are your neighbors, your brothers, sisters, cousins, co workers, former classmates, childhood friends, fellow Hoosiers, American, church members, customers, et al. I went to DePauw. Our rivalry with Wabash is longer and as fierce as the IU vs Purdue rivalry. Three days a year we hate each other with a passion. The rest of the time we tease, play jokes and pranks and both respect our institutions and acknowledge they are both outstanding schools that have been around a long time and make great contributions to put our state and nations. The extremism on both sides of some is beyond my scope. Both schools have had great athletic moments. Both schools have had notable moments of just plain crappy teams. Head to head is to be avoided and we all know why! Hell, we are the Spoilermakers in football but have owned the Old Oaken Bucket most of my 81 years. You are the five time National Champs and nobody in the Big Ten comes close. Yet we lead the league in championships and are the only school with a winning record all time against every school in the Big Ten. Both schools sellout basketball. You have a bigger fanbase. Our football is middle of the road, but overwhelmingly exceeds your team all time. Your Olympic sports are far superior to ours with some exceptions like volleyball and WBB. Our alumni numbers are about the same. We probably hold a small edge in on campus enrollment. You depend on our farmers for food, our vets for your pets, our pharmacists for your drugs and our engineers for many things. We need your lawyers, doctors, teacher, jpurnalists, business leaders, politicians and government employees. Both schools have produced outstanding business leaders. What is a reasonable basis for pure hatred! We both have students who do student shit. I hate the chants and most Purdue fans do. You have some A-holes and we have A-holes. I would gladly send a number of Gold and Black fans on a one way trip to Kentucky or Michigan.
