Effective NOW, my motto is “you either provide customer service or you don’t”

When some business tells me a sob story about why they suck at delivering the goods or service their business was created to provide, I’m telling them “I am sorry - I don’t mean to be rude, but I don’t care - you either provide customer service or you don’t - it is not my job to solve your s supply or personnel problems - I’’ll take my business elsewhere - good luck.”

I’m done enabling incompetence, laziness, excuses, and explanations. My clients hired/fired me based on service and results.

Make America Competent Again!

Some businesses are born to fail. Let it be. Make room for the workers and problem solvers.

Biz's worst nightmare. Home. Retired. Has money. Lawyer. Doesn't feel good. Trapped in the throes of the health bureaucrasy looking to vent. God help the agent that gets Floor on the horn.

Good, fast or cheap. Pick two. That's what my companies aim to deliver. Usually we deliver one. Oddly the one isn't always the same. Ask for refunds while keeping the goods. Threaten to use your mastery of grammar and vast vocabularly to spend every waking hour trashing them on the internet and in reviews. Your shit will still be late, of course. But it'll likely be cheaper/free.

Oh and if you didn't already know it; no other industry I'm aware of operates like lawyers. Call back within 24 hours. At the mercy of the client blah blah blah. Business world in my experience is vastly different. And I deal with probably close to a hundred vendors. Most. Do. Not. Give. A. F*uck. It's very strange.

Wish that would work with the local newspaper.

And that’s why good vendors are gold. I always rented extra trucks from Enterprise. They knew their shit and frequently would even deliver trucks to our facility. Penske and Ryder and others were always sending salespeople by to get me to use some promotion and start using them. After non-working liftgates and trying to bill for fuel after we returned a truck totally refueled, I told the others I would never leave Enterprise. You can try to save me a couple of bucks but it ain’t worth it. When someone has their act together I won’t leave and I’ll pay extra if I have to.

When people harp on gubmint incompetence, I always remind them that the gubmint ain’t got a monopoly on it. Plenty of private sector businesses that are bad at what they do. You should check the bankruptcy docket sometime.

You should hear my stories about my current mistreatment by the medical and pharmacy industries.

If I live, I’m gonna hire Johnny Depp and Amber Heard and do a scathing expose’ movie.

just spent a week in Belize. Every other order we placed or thing we tried to buy turned into a mega hassle but we just did not care. Now I’m home and a garage door guy is supposed be here in 10 minutes and I’m pre-mad in anticipation of him being late.

I’m starting to think it’s me and not them. Lol

I work at a company which prides itself on being a sales organization. Yet, we service and support many of the products we sell.

Working in an operational/production environment and your company is described by senior leaders as a "sales organization" should make you sweat at night.

We (f*ck it, I) coined the term "bespoke intake processing" which basically means we'll do whatever you want regardless of the obvious inefficiencies and headache.

I have at least 12 more years of this. FML

Bespoke Intake Processing should be the title of your business book and subsequent speaking tour. 🤣

LOL. And I actually did laugh. The thought of you writing the screenplay and then directing the loving couple is tremendous. Where do I invest?

Are you based in Pakistan? That's how they roll.
What is it that you need father? Of course we can harvest organs. I have many, many years experience harvesting organs. If it is kidney you want it is kidney you shall have. Abdul. Come in here please. I have terrible news for you but wonderful for our business. We make you very proud man. But we must have your kidney. Father requires it. Father you want DHL? UPS very expensive for such light shipment

We have the basis for a movie, Adventures in UPS (United Pakistani Shipping). There’s the writer of the screenplay. And he also directs. We have several Executive Producers. And, of course, we have the co-stars. Millions of dollars to follow.

Guys like me have to keep the promises you assholes make. And get the blame when we don't. Fvck you.

That is grounds for a public stoning.

That was how I operated. Once I found someone I could count on I stayed loyal. Just don't give me a reason to look for alternatives and you had my business.

I wasn't an easy customer. The nature of our business was such that I needed people to hit tight delivery dates and I needed to get stuff at the right price. I never pushed unless it was necessary, but when I had to you needed to come through. That said, when I wasn't in a bind or didn't have a hard budget to meet I was easy to get along with and told the vendor to take his time and make a buck while he had the chance.

Woosa Woosa.

I'm not in the sales end of things. I'm just trying to reach detente.

I've long said, when I hear what the sales critters are making, that I'm on the wrong end of this pig.

I refer to anyone is sales, including my son-in-law, as Sales Rep-tiles.
I have friends who have been in sales for 25 years now. They have always had a free vehicle with insurance and free gas. That alone over the course of 25 years is quite a benefit. Throw in free cell phone too. It’s pretty pretty pretty good.

I'm not unsympathetic.

Today my wife was scheduled for a lumbar steroid epidural. Essentially they shoot steroids in her lower back. It helps her chronic back pain from her arthritic and degenerative spine. She gets it done once very 6-12 months.

So I take the day off, since I have to chauffeur her there and back and they require someone "responsible" on the premises. We show up, they take her in, and I'm waiting, mostly playing on the Cooler on my phone.

Ten minutes later, she comes strolling out, saying "We can go now." The procedure normally takes around 30 minutes, and when they're done, she's staggering, not strolling. Seems the doctor forgot to order the Versed, the one sedation medication she's able to tolerate without a lot of side effects.

I’m sure they apologized. And explained why you should just shut up and pay and tip extra.

I’ve been without meds for a week. The same surgeon who scheduled a procedure I could not have until AFTER my aortic aneurism was repaired, and tried to act like I had not informed them about it, and delayed all of my needed healthcare for weeks, failed to renew my prescription when contacted by the pharmacy.

I’m gonna pee in his Lexus.

That's why I let the bride deal with any of the "customer service" type issues we might have. Today, she went directly to the doctor's office (separate from the outpatient surgery center we were at earlier) and she dealt one on one and face to face with the staff. Got everything straightened out with the meds and insurance and we're rescheduled for one week from today. If I'd been involved we'd have been fooked.

Ummm, That is a once in a lifetime event for most. I'm glad you're here to post about it sir. Tip of the cap.
Thanks.

It didn't blow. But kidney stones required a CT scan that showed it needed fixing ASAP. So I have titanium in my aorta, and waiting for the stones to be lithotripsied out 6/16.

All of this crap coulda shoulda been handled in April, but the doctors didn’t consult … cause they’re busy.

I probably don't need to talk about critical timing of those that do "blow". Like I said, damn glad you're here typing about it. There's about a 99% chance, that my companies equipment helped with that "titanium" being delivered to just the right spot! Just so you know you're in good hands, we will also build the little tubes that suck most of those "Sploded" stones out.. Sorry about the one's that you have to pass the old fashion way!

I'm just now, almost 6 weeks past having 12" of large intestine removed. I won't bitch about any doctor, nurse, CNA or admin assistant. They all seemed to do their specific job very well. ... NOW, the IU MED system talking to each other... NOPE. The most sage advice I got from a "legacy" (being polite) Nurse, after questioning some less than efficient happenings, YOU MUST BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE. Eye to eye, face to face. then she shuffled off almost happily.

Again , all praise Titanium!

Most Amazon orders have Amazon delivery, but some have UPS and some have USPS delivery.

The only ones that get screwed up badly, for me anyway, are those going to USPS. We had an order that was marked "delivered" and hadn't shown up a week later. We complained, Amazon replaced the order, then both the original and duplicate orders arrived on the same day.

Now my wife ordered something else and it also was transferred to USPS and marked as delivered a week ago. Still not here.

Lesson learned. Always pick "supplied by Amazon" if it's a choice.

Speaking of kidney stones, I had those in college, and then I had acute pancreatitis about 10 years ago.

My wife knows better than bringing up the pain of childbirth around me.

Today’s American Consumer Report:

The Pre-Surgical Screener called yesterday. We’re making the second attempt at performing lithotripsy to remove kidney stones which put me in the ER on 4/18. First one scheduled for 4/25 was canceled as they rolled me toward the operating room - when they “discovered” I had an aortal aneurism that was diagnosed in 2012, and was also in my ER records from 4/18, when I was referred to their business by ER doctors. Screener signed me up for a pre-lithotripsy EKG and instruction session on how to shower with anti-bacterial soap. Issued instructions which differ from written info already received regarding when to stop taking vitamins, aspirin and prescription meds prior to 6/16 procedure. Also differed from instructions issued prior to failed 4/25 procedure. Could not/would not answer any of my questions - “that’s clinical - you should call your primary care physician who had zero involvement with the AAA repair or either of the lithotripsies.” Should I take my Covid booster for the procedure - it’s overdue? “ Call your doctor.” Couldn’t even say whether the 6/16 lithotripsy on my kidney will impact the kidney function test I am supposed to schedule on my own between 6/16 and 6/22 so that aortal aneurism surgeon can see if that repair is interfering with kidney function. “Call your doctor- who will force you to select from unhelpful phone menu selections and then talk to someone who can’t answer your medical questions.” Finally said “please have someone from the surgeon office call me.” “OK.” No call.

Called a Honda dealer - to whom former client sold his now-nameless business. Phone menu Unhelpful. Talked to “service scheduler.” Couldn’t tell me the fee for “diagnostics” - but scheduled an appointment. Asked “can we bring it and drop it off Saturday for the Wednesday diagnostics - family has travel and medical issues?” “Yes, and I’ll have someone call you today about the fee.” Potential for actual customer service? No. No call. Called them back today. “No - you can’t drop it off early - you must drop it off at the scheduled time so you can talk to the service AGENT in charge of your car - they are an important cog in our service wheel, but your convenience and inconvenience is not relevant - our policies and practices are for OUR convenience - shut up and pay.”

The National Anthem was destroyed by a really cool performer last night. It was all about HIM and the actual art can go suck a big one, as can all the fans - screw them, LOOK AT ME.

Tried to buy a recliner chair in November. Was told “cant deliver until January.” I said “OK.” January came - no call. I called them. “Will ship next week.” This same lie sequence occurred 3 more times. Last one - will ship March 10. I said if it doesn’t, money back. It didn’t. I got credit. Same business called me this week looking to schedule the delivery of the chair, which is nowin their warehouse and needs to be delivered. I told them to deliver it to the sales floor.

What does all this mean to people who say we need more businessmen in government? It does not sound like they have answers. Or to those who think government should be run like a business?

And what about "socialized medicine"? Could it be any worse?

On a serious note, Floor's experience with the various doctors not being aware of what each other is doing is awful. There's no excuse or it. As distasteful as I find the monolithic IU Health system, they seem to do a really good job in that regard, at least from what I've seen with my wife's dealings with them. She has cardio, orthopedic, and neural/spinal issues that have been addressed by different providers and specialists, but in every case they are all well aware of her full history and take care to make sure that their particular actions take everything into account. Of course, it helps that she is smart, well informed, and tales the lead in assuring everything has been considered and doesn't assume anything.

And what about "socialized medicine
There was an article in the paper this week, a guy moved to Bloomington and went looking for a new GP. Researching them he decided on choice A. Choice A has an opening in August of 2023. He asked about choices B and C. They had openings in 2.5 years. The soonest he could get in to see anyone was 3 months.

2 weeks ago I was injured and after a day of, "this will get better", I decided I needed to see someone. The IU walk-in clinic on the east side said that if I showed up, they might be able to work me in but might not. Their appointment slots were completely full and several people were waiting to be worked in with an estimated wait of 7 hours. The West side walk-in clinic had one appointment for 6:15, I snagged it. When I was there, I heard a person come in wanting to be seen. Nope, they could not that Monday. Their Tuesday was now full, and if they wanted a Wednesday slot they better decide now as it was mostly full.

Good thing we don't have waits like Canada.

Med mal lawyers are the answer and the problem. Anyway can you imagine the staff's reaction to seeing Floor in the waiting room? Knowing what's coming. And you know on the drive over he most certainly came up with a couple of cutting phrases he's real excited to use on em. But he does feel real shitty. Stones are apparently the worst. And he's revved up for a fight because you know they won't have their stories straight and floor will have to remind them of a thing or ten in terms of things not matching up.

In the waiting room just stewing. Back hurts. On hold with the drug addict from the furniture company who keeps telling him lie after lie about supply chains, triggering thoughts of stay at home pete and this worthless administration that pisses him off real bad. and as crummy as he feels, and i'm certain is to deal with, he's probably still sort of interested in what these nurses look like and might be in the mood to flirt a little, despite everything. after all his handle on here is always hot chicks. he's just a tornado at this point

America is filled with incompetent businesses and employees. Report your experiences here. Then we send the list to Biden, who cured Covid just by taking the Presidential oath - HE IS OUR ANSWER! HE CAN EVEN KEEP MUSTARD OFF YOUR HAMBURGER AT MCDONALDS!
Some good news:

Got a message of Colorado Dept. of Public Healt that I’m due for my second Covid booster. Emailed my PCP to ask for her recommendation. Heard back in 3 hours, yes she recommends it. Went to Walgreens for shot. Didn’t have my card. No card no shot. Remembered that Colorado Dept of public health keeps vaccination records for everyone. (Why is a different story). Plinked around on their website for a few minutes and found my entire record, going back to year 2000. Showed my record to the pharmacist. Got the shot. Went home. Everything worked.

I used to be polite and understanding. All it got me was abusive incompetence.

I’m now the Ralph Nader of customer service.
