Is our offense better without Romeo?

Yogi Ferrell, Trevon Bluitt, and the hundreds of other college and professional players who trained at his academy and attended his highly regarded big-man camps disagree. Ask Juwan Morgan and De'ron if they've learned anything from Ed Schilling.

Beyond stupid.
Dakich says he stinks too. Dakich coached basketball like you. You guys are definite experts!

That’s what I mean he needs to go!
Stupid piled on top of stupid. Every time you post you reach a new low.

I really do hope you are a troll who just posts to inflame and then goes away laughing at people like me who take the bait. If you really are an IU fan who believes the chronically ignorant shit you post, our fan base deserves any ridicule the PUkes and pUKes post about us.

Another lie. Dakich has said no such thing. Now you are adding pathological lying to your resume', just below chronically stupid.
Yes he did he made some reference to Schilling making the players do dribbling drills while brushing their teeth! How could I make that up

I didn't hear the reference but I would bet that it was said in a context that did nothing at all to suggest that Schilling can't coach. But I can see how your tiny brain and massive bias would twist something innocuous into a condemnation (you probably will need some time to look up those terms).

Keep calling me stupid it suits your self righteousness well.

One of the things that struck me watching last nights game, was that our Offense seems to have better flow and movement without Romeo. I'm not sure if it is because Romeo is unpredictable in his decision making and the other four players watch what he is doing before they move, or if they just have more confidence in one another and trust that their teammates will be where they are supposed to be as the offense is run.
Is this serious? Stop it please. We played a glorified D3 team.

In fairness to Coach Schilling, shooters are made from March to November. And they have to show a willingness to work to improve. If Demezi takes pride in his shooting I'm sure he'll be motivated to get better this offseason. It's a different world shooting against Big Ten defenses than in high school, especially if you're as big as he is and used to being able to square up, load up, and shoot over guys who are 3-6 inches shorter than you.
i agree with all that except not fixing technique issues in season. if a player is adequate and a senior i may not bother. otherwise, i am teaching and correcting all phases, every day. i know a lot of people say if you haven't learned to shoot by the time you are in college it's too late.., blah, blah, blah. i have never found it difficult to correct shooting form. of course, i never coached past high school. myself, i became a better shooter in my mid twenties by perfecting my form. now, as an old ****er, i recently tweaked my form again. i had to lower my release to compensate for decreased strength. has really helped with my range and accuracy

Coachv jr...
I have yet to see Trayce shoot a ten to twelve footer.
So he needs to work ..A lot on that.
Missed 7 free ones against Ben Davis that would have been a difference maker...
That said his sophomore & Junior year.. He'll be a load in the middle..He could easily put on another 20 -25 lbs of muscle on.
i know. i used to watch his pops back when i liked and watched the nba

Agree with most of these posts. Wish everyone would play with Al’s hustle. And something definitely happened with the team. But if Archie couldn’t handle the Romeo situation, that’s not good. What happens when the next elite player comes. The coach has to have the ability to control it and make the tough decisions. Not to always refer to RMK , but he distributed the wrath equally. And that built chemistry. Can’t play favorites. Causes animosity among the team. Just read where Coby White is rated higher then RL. Not to criticize RL , but the difference between CW and RL regarding movement , aggressiveness , and leadership is huge. Can’t quite pinpoint what it is with Romeo. Good kid , with ok numbers , and potential, just doesn’t seem to have the killer instinct. Didn’t see him in high school, same demeanor?

Knight was actually hardest on his best players. He made sure no one thought he was playing favorites.

Bingo

It made the rest of the team respect the best player more....vs what Davis did with Bracey, Crean did with Noah and ImI guessing Archie (and this fanbase did with Romeo).

I don't doubt that they work at it in-season, but practice time is limited both by rule and by circumstance. Besides, a lot of players revert to what is comfortable in the stress of a game. I don't think it's at all fair to assume that the coaches and the kid aren't working on it because the desired result hasn't happened. If it were that simple, every player on every team would be stellar at this point in the season.

Knight would actually hold his "stars" responsible for other players' screwups. Alford was all the time getting his ass chewed for something Uwe did. When the star took the fire for you, you ended up listening to the star and playing your ass off for him.

Not saying that you are totally wrong, but with today's kids... there was a reason RMK struggled in the late 90s early 2000s with big wins and transfers. It is a definite balancing act with their egos.

not all kids can shoot but they can all be taught proper technique. i pulled players out of practice and made them practice shooting against a wall. could not join practice again until their stroke was right. it's the coaches, not the players, who lack the discipline to see it through

How many practices have you been to at IU ? As a coach you ought to know better than anyone how insulting it is to have fans who watch games on tv make assumptions about what you teach and do not teach in practice. Through all the years I coached I emphasized the same things in practice. I had some teams that shot the ball really well and others that struggled. Same with free throws - which we shot daily, charted, shot in situations, shot under pressure of conditioning, etc. Without fail, when I had a team that shot poorly from the line in a game or a stretch of games, some asshole would take it upon himself to let me know that we ought to be shooting more free throws in practice.

Unless you've been sitting in on practice, it's a lousy thing to be on a message board spouting unfounded allegations about what coaches should be doing and whether they have the "discipline" needed.

This may be the truest thing ever posted.

if you comprehended what i said you would understand i emphasized shooting form, not success. in any event, you need to calm down
