Devin Nunes spectacle notwithstanding, the witnesses and the proceedings have an amazing gravitas. The witnesses are not wild-eyed liberals. Rather they are clearly representative of the deep bipartisan foreign policy consensus that existed up until now...namely that the United States should work tirelessly in favor of non-corrupt democratic governance in Europe and to contain Russian aggression. It is clear that Trump is not on board for this.

Well I’m on a couple political websites with running threads, so of course those people are motivated to watch. But that’s outside the norm. I imagine more likely people will be watching highlights on news tonight.,

Trump obviously planned to withhold funding in return of a favor and just because he ultimately didn’t carry it out doesn’t mean he’s innocent. His intent was an abuse of power and basically makes it look like the American government is corrupt or it at least is willing to entertain corruption. Bribery is corruption.
