If Indiana adopted the oad model would you buy in?

Yes or no oad

This attitude is the downside of having a bunch of subway alumni.

Nice try. I’m a grad. I’d prefer there be more fans like myself and fewer like you. You know, The fanboy types who accept and continue to promote mediocrity with your continued support of an administration and A.D. who are directly responsible for our shi#tty results in basketball and football the past decade.

You are a good soldier. Some of my UK collogues (actual UK grads) who are honest over some good bourbon admit that they like the wins but would much prefer a university-based program that wins. They miss the player connections and university-based program.
Some do some don’t. I only gave my opinion of liking all the talent coming through. Btw I am also a UK grad. BSW from EKU and MSW from UK.

This is a really dumb post. So, I should be against wanting a winning program? Ok:rolleyes:

Reread and try again. You want Win at all cost, not an attitude most alumni have. why worry about the various aspects of a college program when you can just follow a pro team (or KY) where those inconvenient aspects don't exist.

But many non-alums, like you, can and do feel a connection to the University and the program, even though you never attended the school. Plenty of room under the tent.

LOL, welcome to ignore for the 53rd time. so shallow...

Please don’t be insulted. The fact that you didn’t go to IU doesn’t exclude your fandom or your overall support for the program. All are welcome, even if you didn’t attend the school. Please consider continuing to follow the Hoosiers and learning more about the special traditions that many of us have known of for years and years.

You're scaring me if you are an alum. I'll try again. The original question was would you embrace Indiana using the OAD model. If you read it carefully you will not see the words win at all cost in the question.

I'll take either model over the current model. I don't care if we have 8 OADs or zero. As long as we're winning.

I responded with the above post. At no point did I say I want to win at all cost. That's just gibberish you made up in your head.

Imo Romeo was going through the motions because his dad had been building him up as the next Michael Jordan his whole life. If he doesn’t develop a shot he won’t last. He better pick up a second language
Romeo can shoot when healthy.
3,000 career points in HS.

Both, OAD and best available players at each position. The goal is to win National Titles, not just be "good".

Under RMK the goal was to win the Big Ten title. Of course that was when everybody played each team in the conference twice and there was no made for television tournament.

Now nobody seems to care about the Big Ten tournament or a conference championship. It’s all about going deep in the NCAA tournament.

2021 is the end of oad. Kids will go straight to the league or have to go to school. I think they should make it a 2 yr minimum if they chose to go to school
They will be the new OAD, after the original OAD become Right Out Of High School, None and Done.

You can walk it back all you want, you support whatever wins... you made that clear.

And being an alum, I care much more about the integrity and culture of the program than do those here that don't have the deep connections and expectations.

The irony of you claiming you have integrity. How about you work on not being a liar and provide a link to back up your claim? Keep arguing with the voices in your head.

Apparently difficult for you to keep up in general. But as a non-alum, you’re still welcome. Just try to learn more about the program before you spout off. It’ll be a better look for you.

Look for None and Done and One and Done players to be the majority of the NBA talent.
Only the late bloomers and late developing talents will join the NBA later. College basketball will be older and less talented, and less future hype of players by the news media, because most of them will never play in the NBA.

There will always be kids who want to get a meaningful college education first and only then move on to NBA.
Evan Eschmeyer comes to mind with his Northwestern career and EECS/Learning Sciences degree.

No idea what you’re babbling about now. Was reiterating that you’re welcome as a fan, even though you never attended IU. Why is that a problem for you?

You checked which usetname you were in before responding to me. Good boy. Pretty embarrassing when you f that up huh?

We currently have a player that averages 4 pts a game and didn’t even start that will probably leave for the nba. Frankly, Ill be glad when it’s over. Yes, you don’t get to know the players and their development over 4 years but 7 months. The bonus side is you get to make a deep run in the tournament every yr and recruiting handles itself. Given the current state of Indiana basketball, would you atleast try the oad model? I’m asking an honest question. No bs, no trolling. I’m halfway respected here more than some of the regulars so I’m curious if you would accept it if given the opportunity?
Funny, I just Watched Virginia win a National Championship and to my knowledge no one and dones. They have several kids including the Guy kid coming out as Juniors, But only after they won the Championship.

I don’t agree as others have mentioned they much prefer watching a player, a class, a team develop over four years. What did Zion do for Duke he won a lot of games and lost a few plus he left a cloud of suspicion over a good school with a great basketball tradition.
And you’re not a coach getting paid millions of dollars to win.

Do you honestly think there’s a single college coach who wouldn’t love to have Zion on their team? This isn’t even a rational discussion. Let’s get real.

I say RMK would not have recruited him since he was clearly OAD.

You are not right. This year Is a good example OAD dominated teams didn’t win the championship. Much better to have some time to develop team chemistry and leadership and individual skills for a championship run.
I understand why many are now again forecasting Barrett to be the top pick rather than Zion. I don’t know that he will be but I understand the reasoning.

The most important point in defending Zion in the NBA will be to start falling prior to Charge contact because if you absorb the full energy likely be in the training room quickly trying to remember where you are and how many fingers you have.

Spot on post. We do support our players, but we don’t support the cheating bs. The one thing cal does recruit is guys that come from good families and are high character guys. If he thinks a player is dirty he stays away. Examples would be selby, Ayton, Muhammad, etc. when cal stops recruiting a kid there’s a reason for it. He knows the ncaa watches his every move based on his past stops. I think he may of suspected camby took money, but I honestly don’t think cal knew till after the fact because it reflects on him. With Derrick rose the season was 3/4 of the way over. Whoever took the act for him cal hadn’t no way to control that. I would venture to say someone in his inner circle pulled the strings for him to get the passing grades. Say what you want about his pst stops, but since being at uk not once as he been thought of as being a cheater. The ncaa would have no problem dropping the hammer. Meanwhile, kids like zions family suddenly move into a 750,000 house. Kansas has multiple infractions and de sosa is somehow now eligible after taking money, and Sean Miller and will wade are still employed. If any of those things happened to cal he would of been fired yesterday. Hell Sampson and pearl are child’s play compared to what those other guys got away with. That’s why I respect Archie because he’s doing it the right way but it takes time after 9 years of creepy crean.
And let’s not forget the timeless story of Thomas Payne. He was in a new Cadillac registered to a dealership in Pennsylvania when arrested. . Who but KY would recruit a 7’ 1” player who didn’t think he would be identified as a serial rapist? I really can’t think of any other program.

You aren’t very good at statistics are you?

How many teams had a OAD vs didn’t have one? Each year maybe 10-15 teams have them and over 300 don’t.

So yes, more times than not a team without a OAD will win the championship. That’s basic statistics. But your odds are better with them than without them. By a factor of at least 10.

Again, this isn’t complicated and it’s not even a debate. Guys like Coach K, Calipari, Self, Williams, etc aren’t dumb. They just aren’t. People on message boards often are though.

The only University in the States that photoshops team photos so not easy to identify players.

That was my original point. With a coach the caliber of Knight ods are better over a four year span to allow him to develop players.

I really prefer having four year players that develop than OAD’s. You clearly don’t so to each his own.

A fan of VA this year has seen the trials of players for years and so satisfying to win the championship. If Duke has won its like okay who do we recruit next.

Feepaw has often identified himself as more of a pUKe guy than an IU guy. He doesn't even try to argue that anymore.
