I give Pence credit

He's been nothing but a gentleman for four years. He ran cover for Trump like all VP's do for POTUS. Idiots want to get mad and call him a theocrat for some obscure language about conversion therapy in a bill from decades ago. That's why they're idiots.

Pence would be welcome at my house and hopefully he would talk about what he really thinks of Trump, too.

He at least fulfilled some of his ceremonial duties over these past few weeks, instead of ducking down the Giuliani QAnon rabbit hole that consumes his sovereign.

for doing the right thing when he really, really needed to.
He played the part of a statesman today and his presence was important for the overall message of unity to land, but let's not kid ourselves. He got on the runaway Trump train thinking it was his ticket to something bigger and stayed on it way after he should have. He's not stupid - he knew his ideals, beliefs and morals were compromised long ago and didn't care.

But, he was a lying and deceiving gentleman.

You left out discussion of Pence's signing as Governor of the Indiana religious freedom act (which was detested by LGBTQ), his subsequent "explanation" of why he did, his subsequent signing of other legislation to "fix" the problems created by the act, and his subsequent, subsequent "explanation" to his evangelical supporters why he backtracked on the agreement they thought they had with him to pass the religious freedom act. Signs arose all over Indiana saying, "Fire Pence." Both LGBTQ and the religious right felt betrayed by him.

Pence was up for reelection in 2016, and there was significant commentary that he would not be reelected. Then, Trump rescued him by making him vice president.

Pence stood with Trump 100% on everything and was making election fraud speeches as late as a couple days before the Jan. 6 riots. Why would Gentleman Pence do that if he accepted the election results? He's not at all admirable. He was expedient and opportunist.

We are fortunate that DJT was so inept as a leader that he was unable to achieve many of the goals of Pence and other evangelicals.

DJT was dangerous due to his mental instability, meanness, racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and 3rd grader bully mentality. Pence was dangerous due to his views.

Reversing the 2016 GOP ticket might have gotten us to an even worse place.
