Haralson

I don't even think we're outspending everyone. Look at AR's roster... I'm guessing they probably spent more in NIL this year than us. You know UConn is paying as is Duke and UNC. I would guess we're top 5, but I think AR is probably tops. I do think we're tops in the B10, but even there I would guess UM, and IL aren't terribly far behind, and Rutgers too with those 2 stud freshmen, I would guess would put them in 3-4th. I just don't see us separating like you described unless we're seeing markedly better results than other schools.
Yup. Cal wouldn’t have went there unless beaucoup NIL available.

It’s very hard to know. There are good reports we have top-5 NIL resources for basketball. Exactly where we rank and how we spend it we’ll never know. We call Cook and Simon and Cal calls Tyson.

To me it just means we are one of the big boys in NIL and we have an advantage over many schools. That’s great. Still have to get the right players and coach em up of course.

The thing with ND is they have more overall money, for whatever they feel like using it for, than most any other school. They have more money than IU does in their couch cushions. Now, will they ever choose to dip their toes in to those grey areas, rules wise, and use the Notre Dame money machine for basketball??? That's the billion dollar question. But we could be getting a potential answer to that question today. Their team would get quite a lot more expensive if Haralson picks them. As it won't just be the money that Haralson commands. Burton's money would need to be adjusted as well, I'm sure.
ND will never commit serious $$ to bball until they are back, regularly top 5-10, in the country in football, imo. That's what matters in South Bend.

I have 0 ties to ND, just my read. The average ND fan might care less about bball than the average IU fan did about football in Allen's last year. Heck, I bet most ND fans nationally can't even name their bball coach.

Won't argue with that.

I'm just saying football should always be #1. A healthy football program will trickle down to other programs in an athletic program.

It seems like Indiana people are finally starting to figure that out.

Hope so. It's a crime if our fb game isn't a sellout Saturday.

I'm not sure about now, but in the early 90s I moved to SB and bought season tix within 20 rows of the court. It blew me away that I could walk up to the ticket office and buy them, let alone be that close.

Mid 90s...used to go to most games with a number of my HS teammates. We'd get cheap bleacher seat tickets, and just walk down courtside. Ushers got to know us, looked the other way. Sat courtside for Allen Iverson and GTown, Ray Allen and UConn, amongst others.

We walked in to the GTown locker room after their game. One of my teammates was 6-8, so everyone must have just assumed he was a recruit or something. Talked to John Thompson for about 5 minutes outside their lockerroom.

Lots of great memories of those games.

I used to show up for University of Houston games a few minutes before tip off and walk down to courtside against ranked teams. Same for Rockets games before first title. Not many people there and no cheerleaders. Quiet as a funeral home.

It was a great place to watch mediocre basketball. ;)

it's Digger, right?
It was the last time ND bball really meant anything. Two words...Kelly Tripucka. ND all american who looked like a '70s porn star, mustache, caucasian fro'.....

recruitments like this used to be so important. With the portal and NIL, I'll take a 21 yr old with 2-3 yrs under his belt who knows the college game, college life, and hungry to get better and get on a draft board, over an 18 yr who only plans to be on campus for 7-8 months and knows he's scooping up a quick million before he leaves. I wish college basketball hadn't gone in this direction, but it did, and I have adjusted my thinking on the matter....imho....

Just saw the Haralson recently started following Tom Loy on X. Loy is the 247 recruiting insider for ND.

Some pretty darn good opposing players in the Big East though at that time.
91-92 and 92-93, ND was still an independent. I saw Ellis play his senior season and then part of the following season before I moved. MacLoed had 3 NBA guys on that 91-92 team and barely finished over .500.
