This is probably posted in the big Haralson thread but thought the announcement deserved another post.

Haralson down to IU, MSU, and Notre Dame. Announcing decision on Wednesday. Spill the beans of what info you may or may not have...

Is it a sign that MSU is standing in front of IU and ND? How many gold bars did ND offer? And the finger pointing and ball with the IU jersey on... what's that mean?

I know nothing about this kid but he is the best of the bunch ya? I would assume we said we will pay whatever ND or MSU does.

He looks like a typical MSU player though lol. Maybe times are changing!!!

Why would Haralson go to ND. Makes zero sense. ND isn’t even competitive and he will be one and done or two years max. Shrewsberry hasn’t developed anyone.
Whomever promotes him as a point guard gets him. He wants to be a point guard. Hes good but he’s not a point guard yet. Most think he will be a multi year guy if that’s the road he takes.

I forgot about him.
Burton has NBA aspirations. Maybe he’ll leave by next year? I don’t think he’s NBA level, but what I think doesn’t really matter. He and his people have VERY high aspirations. Which is not abnormal I suppose.

But I can’t envision Haralson playing well with Burton if he’d still be at ND.

The way Haralson's announcement somewhat undercut Sisley does make me wonder. We'll be fine either way.

Lots of minutes are easily available at ND.

I agree. Gotta be
paid pay day GIF

It’s not. IU offered more. It’s his view. He wants to be a point guard. Shrews is (probably) offering him that. He doesn’ have the handles yet.
Must mean Burton will be gone, if true. He’s the most ball dominant PG in all of college bball. Basically no way playing with Burton jives with their open goals for Jalen.

I agree but it’s no secret.
Everything I know about what Haralson is looking for from a bball perspective points to MSU or IU. Shrewsberry can’t offer him really anything in terms of track record of helping high level guards reach the NBA. And as I’ve said multiple times, Burton is very much in the way of Haralsons goals.

Having said that…I still think it’s ND. The people I know with ND ties say ND is very confident. And then Koehlers commitment could help a fair bit too. He and Haralson played together this summer for Indy Heat, most say they’re fairly close.

Pretty big whiff by Woodson if Haralson goes to Notre Dame. You can’t miss out on top ten in-state prospects and expect to keep your job.
You can if you win. If Rice, and Carlyle, and Ballo, and Tucker, and Mgbako, and Reneau, and Goode, all pretty significant recruiting wins for Woody…if they win enough the next year or two, whatever enough is, Haralson won’t matter as much.

Huge loss though for sure if he goes elsewhere.

It’s a bummer but so far two, according to 247, top ten players have committed (they have Haralson 14th) and neither is going to the premier in-state school. Brown is from Florida but is going to Ole Miss. Does that mean the Florida/Florida State or Miami coach should lose their job?
Acuff is from Detroit but going to Arkansas. Dusty is new so I guess Izzo should be axed.

if Woodson wins people wouldn't care if the players came from Mars.

I agree. I have buddies that are UNC and UCONN fans and neither blabbered about the lack of in-state players when they won natty’s. The in-state Indiana obsession is rather “unique”.
Obviously for a lot of IU fans, basketball in the state of Indiana, in general, is a pretty big deal. I, for one, am supremely proud of the tradition and quality of basketball at the high school level in Indiana.

To me, it’s important that IU is the flagship program in the state. And that the top players in the state see IU as aspirational.

But…big fat but… it’s much more important that IU wins. Their staff should always strive to get the best players they can, that best fit their program needs, no matter where they’re from.

Woodson has went hard after Sisley, Haralson, and Mullins. He went hard after Flory. 26 doesn’t seem to be a great class, but if any emerge as high major kids, I’m sure Woody will be on them.

Yes, I get that and definitely want the talented Indiana kids but most of all I just want us to win. I have never lamented the fact the the kid that made the winning shot in our ‘87 natty game was from Louisiana nor the fact that Alford was the only native Hoosier to score in that game.
Just win!!!!

My opinion, which is purely gut, says it’s not IU. Mainly because it would be too good to be true.
