Haralson announcing Wednesday - IU/MSU/ND

So name the last sub 6 ft guard to successfully leave after 2 years and get drafted? Carsen Edwards in the 2nd rd 6 years ago?
Part of the reason I said I didn’t think he was that level. But he does. And the context was whether or not he’d still be in South Bend next fall when Haralson would arrive. Because Haralson and Burton on the same roster would be a head scratcher.

I've never seen Burton play, sometimes coaches play a style tailored to the talent they have. maybe with the combo of the 2 Burton would play a different style than what he did last year. my sources are kind of quiet on Jalen which isn't a good sign. we will see what happens. used to these types of loses were killers. with the portal doesn't sting as much. Don't see Rice leaving next year so if he wants to play point Woody may have a tough sell.

I’ve watched Burton since middle school. It would be the first time in his career that he’d give the ball up and let someone else consistently make plays. He’s never played with someone like Haralson, to be fair. But his first couple Penn teams had some very good upperclassmen, Burton never deferred to them even.

I can see the appeal of the Shrews-Pickett combo, but I would think what Woody did with Hood-Schifino in one season might have some appeal too.

Having said that, I’ve never really gotten a strong “Haralson-to-IU” vibe from anywhere. Regardless of where he ends up, IMO he’s more than one season away from becoming a legit NBA point guard prospect.
You spit truth. But Haralson is the type of player that helps a team make a run. It's cool Woody is in the mix, got to move on if it doesn't work out.

I would venture to think most P4 starters have NBA aspirations. But I also don’t think Burton or his circle are dumb either. He’s going to be a long shot to play in the NBA regardless, leaving after 2 years for the NBA jive with reality.

like I said haven't seen him play, if he's not a sure shot NBA prospect leaving makes no sense with NIL unless he just hates school. if he's a border line all American type. should be able to make a million or so a year in college. that would seem better than G league or Europe.

I’d be fine with JH playing for IU (presumably for one season) but I’ve never gotten as strong a feeling that he was IU-bound as I did with Sisley (Mullins for me falls somewhere in between the other two).

It would be annoying, to say the least, to see UNC get another blue-chip kid out of Indiana. And more than annoying to one day see UConn with a starting lineup that included both Mullins and McNeeley.

Sounds like Adams is UCONN bound. If he pulls the trigger, Mullins isn’t going to UCONN

FWIW, if distance from home truly is important to the Mullins family, UNC is about 6 times as far from Greenfield as IU is. And UConn is about 10 times as far.

I’d really like to see 2 of the 3 in candy-stripes. 3 of 3 would buy Woody major equity. Like where we sit at this point.

I swear you could take one of the dozens of these threads this board has showcased over the years, change the names of recruits, the competing schools, their hometowns, and a few other details…

….and each thread would pretty much verbatim have the same series of comments. Including this one: the obligatory driving distance comparison.

It was Mullins who brought up the issue of distance in his recruitment

good coaching can modify that behavior

He played for a HOF coach in HS. But yes, you’re obviously right. And again, he’s never had someone like Haralson on his team before. Maybe he’s always wanted to play off someone like that???

What time is he supposed to announce. I have no idea who he is choosing , but I’ll make my pick after he does . Just trying to add a little brevity to this post , but really what time is his announcement.

The other site hinting they have heard Notre Dame, but definitely nothing 100 percent. Of course guys are whining and crying over it.

I never understood getting so emotional over a high school kid picking a school. Even less so in the portal era.

The one thing ND can guarantee is that he will play a ton and get lots of shots.

Agreed on the emotional investment people often make in this.

We’ll see what happens, but I’d be surprised if he’s ever wearing the Cream & Crimson.

I don’t get ND at all. If that’s it, I’ll be interested to hear what he says is the reasoning. I can see MSU, but ND? I bet I could talk to 10 of my ND friends and they’d have no idea who he is. And they won’t next year either. Although maybe that’s what he wants.

He wants to play point and Woody is a year to year coach now. The portal will be the main target until a change at the top is made.

Two of them will be freshmen, but a lineup that has Burton, Haralson, and Koehler will be pretty darned skilled, and fun to watch, I would think.

As long as Burton is on board with it all, I could easily see a pretty fun atmosphere being sold to both Haralson and Koehler. That, and I suspect ND's war chest was opened up a bit.

It might well be. But no one there will care. Maybe he’ll get introduced at halftime of a football game, so people there will no him. I know. I’m sour graping in preparation.

Well we just got Sisley and I think we are getting Mullins. Doesn’t ND already have a point?

Hmmm, IF it’s ND i think you are on to something. The B10 and its slugfest and front court dominated play, or the ACC??
Style of play hasn't been talked about as much this recruiting cycle. Good points.

The Big Ten, as late as going in to the NCAA tournament this past year, was getting hammered by many media personalities for being too physical.

And we've all discussed, ad nauseum, how Woody's teams style of play has potentially turned away good perimeter prospects in the past. I know we got some good ones in the portal, and Tucker late in the process...but maybe that's still a concern for Haralson and his camp?

Shrewsberry has already shown with multiple players that he'll allow talented guards to have the ball in their hands A LOT.

I still think the Burton/Haralson chemistry would have to be a question mark for the Haralson's...and the Burton's honestly. But I could definitely see the Shrewsberry/ACC setup being a lot more attractive for a player like Haralson, stylistically.

You have great points, He could be the top dog there. I hope it's not true. GO IU.

I don’t think it’s a question of “emotional investment” by anonymous fans on the internet, I think it’s more a question of the time and financial investment made by the people that are primarily (coaches) and secondarily (donors) involved in recruiting these high school kids.

If, when the proverbial smoke clears, all IU has to show for all the staff time and donor money dedicated to the in-state high school class of 2025 is Trent Sisley, then it will be fascinating to see what their reactions are. Nothing against Trent, who imo can eventually develop into an excellent starting COMPLEMENTARY player, but I don’t see him as a potential program-changer like I think Haralson and/or Mullins could be.

I hope Braylon was sincere when he spoke about how important distance was to him when it comes to choosing to a school.

Hopefully this hastens Woodson’s departure now that he is whiffing on instate recruits like Crean.
