I'm on the fence. On one hand it doesn't hurt and we vaccinate for all sorts of other things already. On the other hand it does seem unnecessary. The numbers seem to suggest that kids are very very low risk.You are probably not around kids with other severe illnesses that make them especially vulnerable. Those kids have to date had no option for vaccine protection. The numbers are indeed very tiny, percentage wise. This can make it smaller still. Lawn jarts were outlawed when 1 kid died...
Are there other diseases we vaccinate children for that have such a low risk factor?
