Good news: New vaccine approved by US panel

You are probably not around kids with other severe illnesses that make them especially vulnerable. Those kids have to date had no option for vaccine protection. The numbers are indeed very tiny, percentage wise. This can make it smaller still. Lawn jarts were outlawed when 1 kid died...
I'm on the fence. On one hand it doesn't hurt and we vaccinate for all sorts of other things already. On the other hand it does seem unnecessary. The numbers seem to suggest that kids are very very low risk.

Are there other diseases we vaccinate children for that have such a low risk factor?

Well, kids do eventually grow up.

I mean, if you want to wait till your kid is 13, then I don't really see a problem. But there doesn't seem to be any negative affect either, so I don't really see the need to delay personally.

You gotta remember though that we are playing the long game on this and other diseases. Polio and Smallpox are essentially wiped out in this country, and that is mostly due to the vaccines. They have helped prevent the spread by making the infection easier to fight off (and thus, a smaller period of time for transmission). It may take 20 to 40 years, but that is the eventual goal.

If you link to anything Ron Johnson claims, unless it's to point and laugh at what an idiot he is, you've already lost the battle. He doesn't have any credibility when he tries to portray himself as a "self-made businessman" who wasn't gifted his fortune by his father in law. And he certainly has no credibility with regards to his medical "knowledge", or even his ability to understand what Marks was actually saying...

When you appear jointly with a crackpot like Todd Callender and rather than call out his insanity, you imply that people are too accepting of vaccines to be "receptive" to his crackpot theories, then you are nothing short of being as much of an idiot than Callender is. Instead of saying "Hey Todd the idea that the Govt is pushing the vax as a way to expose people to aids is wackadoodle" Ron basically told him that he needed to chill because people were not ready to accept that theory, "even if it was true"? And people vote for this clown?

I mean, if the vaccine was actually effective like Polio and Smallpox, then people would be more inclined to get vaccinated is my guess. But, it hasn't proven to be effective at prevention of contraction and contagion, only symptom intensity.
