End DEI

Hopefully getting rid of Biden and his awful crew will help. The progressives are awful and half are racists themselves. Vote them out. Laws are in place to protect from discrimination. The cases cost nothing. Sue every company that F’s with people in protected classes. Keep suing until it hurts and they get the message. Like Crump. But please no more voting for Harris and Pete and the squad type virtue signaling dummies
Until you walk in another person's shoes, how in the Hell do you know? It took laws to get our civil rights but yet black men unarmed men our kill by police. We still suffer from red-lining but yet we do have a dept of HUD. We still suffer from voter suppression. They want to ban our books and our history to hide all the shit that was done to us. When we have someone who at least tries to let us ,you have a problem. You got rid of affirmative action because you do not want things equal. The list goes on. Walk in another man's shoes.

No.

It's because it's a philosophy developed by losers and pussies, to try and create equity where all kids are losers and pussies, and some parents don't want their kids trained to be losers or pussies.
Interesting. So what you're saying is that DEI is some sort of safeguard, equalizer and/or a sense of security for losers and pussies and that regardless of the objections of others, everyone's kids will be subject to the impacts of widespread DEI implementation. Interesting indeed.

Every post after yours went after teacher unions. If we get rid of the unions, do you think pay would increase or go down? How many people would go into teaching for even less money?
Well, we know one thing that happened when there were no teachers union - student test scores were much higher.

But who cares about that?

Teaching is like any other profession - it's supply and demand. Take an Econ class sometime. Fewer teachers + stable or increasing numbers of students = higher salaries.

Matt needs people to fail so he can feel better.

Is that why so many unarmed white people our killed by armed black people? Why are black people attacking Whites, Hispanics and Asians at disproportionate rates?

It seems like you are blaming everyone else again for black Americans problems.

It DEI is a way to equal the playing field after years of abuse, discrimination and injustices. YOU are not the party where these things have happened to. so call me a loser or a pussy but so help me GOD.I speak the truth. Your kids and my kids are not equal.

Kinda like the "Are you even tactical bro?" philosophy of too many gun owners these days?

The gravy seals are losers and pu$$ies too you know.

The thing is, when teh NRA was established i'd hazard a guess that most of the membership listed their #1 reason for owning a gun as hunting. Nowadays it's "home protection/self defense" even though the rates of violent crime are vastly lower.

Most of these chodes don't even hunt.

I have no idea how many NRA nuts there are, but there are tons of hunters up in WI, MN, SD, ND, etc. I assumed there were quite a few in IN, as well, but given the farmland vs. woodlands, perhaps the land isn't as conducive to hunting.

FWIW, I've thought about buying a gun for home protection/self defense and possibly for a hobby (gun range). Hunting is not my thing.

You can find deer and small game anywhere. You just have to change methods for the type of area you are in. I've taken plenty of deer and rabbits over the years on 40 acres. Only about 20 of that wooded. So plenty of hunters in Indiana.

In my community, the first day of deer season is a virtual holiday. In some cases, a LITERAL holiday.

I know guys who own small businesses who let any employee who wants to hunt off on that day.

Supply and demand. They teach our kids. For many, they provide the necessary child care so parents can work. Supply and demand. Asshole comment.

I don’t know about that…it’s definitely where the fun is at

When you first learn to shoot a bow, it definitely has the most pain.

I don't know how many times I lit my arm up shooting my bow when I shot it, and my dumbass didn't want to look like a wuss so I refused to wear a guard.

You're right though, bow is way more fun then gun.

Ahh, bow hunter.

That’s where the skill is.

I don’t know about that…it’s definitely where the fun is at
Been a few years since I've been able to hunt. My step dad introduced me to hunting. Only for shotgun season. My dad was a Moose Lodge member and won me a compound bow on a pull tab.

My dad's brother David set my bow up with sights and nocs and the rest is history. Dropped the mossberg 500A in 2006 when I damn near missed my biggest buck. Got the bottom on his chest at 70 yards and took a 1/2 inch of his heart. Since then it's been my .45 cal knight inline. If a deer is in 150 yards it's going down.

I plan on getting back to it but my hunting season was October 1st til the end. Life, work, and a wife slowed it down.

For all the hand wringing about money in politics, you don’t often hear it in the context of Public Sector unions.

So the union member whose salary is paid by the tax payer, has unions dues deducted from their paycheck. The union then uses those dues to fund their progressive candidate of choice. The progressive candidate gets into office and votes for higher salaries and more funding for teachers. This allows even more money to be funneled toward said progressive candidate.

How is that legal? It’s the most corrupt bargain in American politics.

total idiocracy.

SCOTUS blesses billionaires and multinational corporate conglomerates with no allegiance what so ever to the US literally buying our govt, politicians, policy, SCOTUS itself, our judiciary, and our entire regulatory framework, and you think unionization of public employees is the problem???

wake up.

The town I grew up in today has fewer hunters but more guns. The crime rate is nonexistent. At least not violent crime. Why are there more guns?

I get the idea of target shooting. I like physically engaging things. But how many people are there buying guns that think like I do? I have no idea. But I bet more than ever, folks in my home town would say they are buying a gun for protection. From what? Most of them don’t ever go south of 96th street.

Is it a political badge if some sort? I think for some it might be. Is it marketing? If so, bravo from a purely nihilistic approach to a business.

Also, aren’t you a stats guy? I think having a gun in your house makes your chances of dying from a violent crime infinitesimally smaller than dying from an accidental discharge in you garage.

But other than wanting to own yet another tool I don’t use, I can’t figure out the sharp increase in gun ownership in areas where crime is nearly nonexistent.

Decent point.

That said, I bought my first gun just after Sandy Hook. Lived in Old East Dallas with a young daughter and wife

Couldn't imagine someone breaking in and doing whatever with the girls...and me either being off'd beforehand, or having to sit there and watch.

North of Marion County or not...that shouldn't be a risk/concern anyone should have to deal with helplessly given the country we live in.

I mean, yeah....firing rounds a 1/2 mile downrange is fun as hell. Clay shooting is a blast. And I get that some dudes want/need to carry in urban areas to feel safe.

Open carry's not my jam, don't really dig it, but after 2020, I'm more concerned with why the left harkens so hard for an unarmed, or well-documented armed citizenry.

It's like one of their leaders would suggest "reeducation camps" for those not buying into the bullshit, and need a VIP list for the initial invites.

Crazy right?

It actually is, or used to be a UAW holiday.

Getting rid of Biden won’t do Jack. Department of Education commands a 270 billion dollar budget that it uses to put its thumb on the scales and force nonsense down on children.

Next president needs to declare war on the Department of Education. Declare war on Teachers Unions. They have failed and their time is up.
You do realize that the OP was about DEI - not the Department of Education - right?

Interesting to see this thread go from a Bari Weiss discussion of the dangers of DEI being taught in colleges and high school from the standpoint of someone sensitive to anti Semitism to a thread complaining about teacher unions and the Department of Education.

Hey guys, federal, state, and local governments provide $810.0 billion or $16,390 per pupil to fund K-12 public education. with the federal government providing only 10.5% of funding for public K-12 education. The power follows the funding, so it is pretty obvious education is in the hands of sate and local government.

Always worthwhile reading Bari Weiss on the subject of anti Semitism which should be a growing concern for all of us regardless of political affiliation. As to teacher unions, their influence on education as compared to state legislatures is greatly exaggerated IMO.
I'm pretty sure GigGoo thought that DEI was referring to the Dept. of Education. 🤣

The NRA was founded in 1871. I’d venture to say that more than a few of the members at the time owned guns for self defense.

I don't doubt it. But in the 40's, 50's, 60's?

Meh, it's jumped the shark and the genie isn't going back in teh bottle.

The teachers that don’t feel the need for a union to protect them from poor performance. Addition by subtraction.
FL, the DeSantis utopia, has a record shortage of over 7,000 teachers as of this school year. Teachers are leaving the state in droves, and the 2 primary driving forces behind the mass exit is politics and pay...

"Out of all 50 states and the District of Columbia, Florida has one of the lowest average teacher salaries ranking 48th with an average yearly salary of $51,000, according to data from the National Education Association."

If you think those teachers are mainly leaving because they are afraid of performance ratings, you're as lost as the psycho "Moms For Liberty". Rude awakening for the MFL, as candidates after candidate they pushed/endorsed were rejected in key school board races across the country. Particularly in PA,VA and Iowa...

Lots of states are deciding that when it comes to Education, they don't want to be Florida...
