Dream Team members only

Last time at Crooked Stick, caddy took my umbrella out and put it in the shack (fair enough). Old school Taylor Made Tour umbrella I'd gotten from a pro in Dallas mid 90's. Indestructible.

Kid forgot to put it back in, took me a couple months to notice it missing...figured my wife swiped it out of the bag/truck on a rainy day and left it in the garage.

Thing was Audi 5000, my friend. Sad loss.
I’m sure he felt worse about it than you.

One of the best players in our club, I accidentally put his 60 degree in his playing partners bag at the end of the round when I was double bagging one time.

A couple days later he comes to pick up his bag to play in his buddy’s member guest and no 60 degree.

I almost got fired that day.

Highland and Woodland are the only Indy privates I’ve played. Highland did not seem like they had much of a caddy program.

The dues at those Indianapolis country clubs are insanely cheap. I’d belong to three if I lived there.

Simple folk.
Played CCI a numbrr of times with uncle and cousin who were members. Don't recall a caddy program there.

I worked at Highland back in high school in the summer, so always had an affinity for it.

We were playing as guests a couple years ago while my daughter was across the river at Butler soccer camp. Head pro (Bill Pollert) apparently pitches my wife on the "National" (non-local) membership while I'm in the locker room changing shoes. She doesn't tell me. We go out and play, she's texting someone while we play (whatever), and I change shoes again after, and meet her upstairs at the pub.

Membership guys walks in with our new member numbers, and something for her to sign. I'm like "whoa, whoa, whoa, WTF!!", like she just dropped $50k initiation or something while we were playing. However, non-local memberships are actually not that steep, and aa good deal to get up there a dozen times a year to play, so it was pretty harmless.

She apparently texted the Membership Director while we played, filled out the application, and the two RE guys she listed as sponsors were there, and signed off on it. :D

Nah...never said anything about it. Called up there and asked if anyone had seen it, but it was gone. I didn't remember the kids name, he probably didn't even remember he did it.

When we go out to Friar's Head or Sebonack, those guys either dump out your whole bag, or size you up, figure out what they think you'll need, and put like 7 clubs in a Sunday bag and tell you to STFU. :D

My bosses regular guy (Irish John) and I were always battling. Friars allows no lasers, and nothing is marked, so you have to completely rely on the caddies. Irish John was one of those guys that wouldn't tell you yardages, but just hand you the club he thought you needed.

"Dude, just give me the ****ing yardages, not your opinion." :D

Do you live in the Hamptons? What are you doing there? I thought you were from Texas like me.

There are a handful. Might be around on the weekends. I'm guessing 95% of rounds are without caddy
You’ll have to excuse me.

I’m Chicago spoiled. Glen View club hosted U.S. Opens and Western Ametuers. Caddied there for 10 years.

My home club North Shore CC has Champions events there every year.

We all take caddies.

Country clubs repulse me.

Bastions of elitism, greed, and decadence.

Yeah... I mean you can join Highland as a local full time member for next to nothing. Was literally $0 (or some nominal amount) handful of years back.

That’s too bad. Sounds like you’ve never played on a private golf course.

I wish you well with the unwashed.

I don't know what it is for a local. Our membership is non-local.

Maybe $15-$20k for Highland? I dunno?

Broadmoor is owned by a corporation, so probably cheaper over there.

I'm guessing $10-12k. 2019 it was like $5k. 2012 $0.

Broadmoor isn't owned by a Corp. The land was purchased by an investor group of members and long term leased back to the club, which I believe is still member owned and operated.

Might be right on Broadmoor...maybe corporate managed, not owned? We played there 3-4 years ago, and I'm pretty sure it was at least "managed" by an outside group...had that ClubCorp vibe. I dunno. Hope they can keep that place afloat. Like the course.

Bloomington CC just agreed to have Smyers & Co come in and "refresh" the course, along with new sprinklers. Same routing, stretch it to over 7,000 from the back. Adding "classic" characteristics like squared off greens, more run up areas...probably more fescue areas to complete the look.

With the zoysia fairways and this reno done, may be one of the top 10 tracks in the state.

Yes they had a mgmt company at one time, but no longer. Keith something... Used to be at Harrison Lake CC is now their GM. Great Ross course. They had one of Tom Doak's protoges do a reno a few years ago and tuned out nice.

Nice. I like Smyers
