Do you regret having voted for Trump in this last election?

If you voted for Trump this past election do you have regrets?

  • Yes

    Votes: 3 12.0%
  • No

    Votes: 22 88.0%

  • Total voters
    25
Seems the board so far has no regrets. Not completely surprised, but I thought maybe some of the more conservative board members who openly don't care for Trump would have voted for him as the lesser of two evils (Harris).

The only two conservatives on here that I think didn't vote for him were @hookyIU1990 and @JamieDimonsBalls. The rest of us, besides IUcrazy, are ride or die no limit soldiers.

I don't think I'm a conservative anymore unless it's on the fiscal side. I really don't care what consenting adults do in private as long they don't try to tell me 1) I have to care/subsidize it 2) they splash it on me and mine or 3) they harm other people or their property.

And as long as they don’t do it in the street and frighten the horses.

I wrote in an actual conservative Republican, Brian Kemp. Trump was going to win Ohio no matter who I voted for.

Wth perfect 20-20 hindsight, I regret not voting for Trump in 2020.

Not that he wasn't an awful candidate and an awful person, but because his second term has become much much worse than it would have been, by the 4 years he had to stew over imagined wrongs and to plan a systematic hatchet job / revenge tour on our democracy.

We would have moved on by now without as much stupid Project 2025 shit ever happening. More dead from COVID, still stupid policies, but not so evilly executed

Yeah, I am not ride or die.

If this is true (it is Chinese state run media), then what a disaster.
Come on now, it's Chinese media, Crazy. Japan exports around 140 billion annually to the U.S. and we have a military base there protecting them from China. They're not getting in bed with China. Also, Japan overall has lower overall tariffs than the U.S. I think it's the only developed nation that does.

I actually think that those 3 ARE todays conservative feelings. Now, the not caring part, may not be the extreme religious right's feelings, but they are a subset of the larger conservative feelings. Even they SHOULD be " just love one another, even if you don't totally agree".
In my terms, You do you but don't want me forced to agree.

Even if they regret voting for Trump, they will never admit it.
Context matters. 41 year spike in inflation. Record house increase. Gas. Murder. Defund. Bail projects. Covid insanity. Open borders. Race baiting. Virtue signaling. Alex in wonderland. Fing with minors. Judgy shaming holier than thou pricks. 15-0 in this poll. And I believe it. Trump is awful. A horrible choice. But look what preceded him. Trump all day long over murderers in our neighborhoods

And I don’t think the Dems have learned a thing

Hopefully, it works out and they become allies. We wouldn't need bases in their countries anymore.
I don't know if there is a better example on this forum of someone dramatically shifting their facts/opinions/knowledge in order to pacify tribal cognitive dissonance than this 53-minute turnaround you did right here. Bravo.

Japan isn't partnering with China because the U.S. threaten to put a 25% tariff on less than 3% of their economy. They're just f#cking taxes and U.S. citizens will end up eating part of the bill. You or crazy can come back and fact check who is right. I'll take myself on this one.

I'm curios if there's any buyers remorse on this board. Sure voting for Kamala wasn't ideal, but right now do you wish you could have voted for another candidate or abstained?
Eppy, going to respond to the idea of the question and the underlying assumptions of some of the responses. None of this is directed at you. Good question.

But . . . no one's vote affected the outcome of the election, and you don't really "buy" a president when tens of millions of others are voting, too--its not like had you voted for Harris you get Harris. So I'm not sure why any person would regret voting for any candidate.

Also, many of the responses and the way in which people talk about votes make it out to be some kind of litmus test of a person's character. I think that's really dumb--we only have two choices presented to us, and yet there are a myriad of issues that the vote may affect and thinking, non-tribal people will not agree with a candidate or party on all their positions. Add to all of this the imperfect information we have on candidates because of spin, lying, and propaganda along with the impossibility of predicting the future, and I think the entire notion of regret or that a vote is a test of your character is wrongheaded.

But this attitude is a great way to enhance tribalism. So there you go.

Not sure where to put this good little read, but here will do....

The Daily Kos. Had no idea that was still around. A guy quoting private conversations with a dead guy so he can't be fact checked.

I'll take things that never happened for $1,000, Alex.

Professor Kelley told me 100 times over three decades that “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.” I remember his emphasis and inflection — it went like this — “Donald Trump was the dumbest goddam student I ever had.” Dr. Kelley told me this after Trump had become a celebrity but long before he was considered a political figure.

Did you see the date of that article? 2017.

Looks like there are two that were willing to admit it. I'm guessing Crazy and crazed.
