I think you mean Dabo. Not Deboer. He just jumped to 2-1 gambling odds. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.
No, he meant Deboer. Dabo is out of the top tier coach conversation until he adapts.I think you mean Dabo. Not Deboer.
Yeah I know what he meant I just can't see Deboer at AlabamaNo, he meant Deboer. Dabo is out of the top tier coach conversation until he adapts.
Yeah. I think it would be foolish, but one thing about coaches at this level is their egos make it hard to pass up these opportunities. Someone ought to remind him that pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered.Yeah I know what he meant I just can't see Deboer at Alabama
I wouldn’t want the job. Those people are crazy. But I think Kiffen might be one guy who could handle the pressure.Yeah. Someone ought to remind him that pigs get fat and hogs get slaughtered.
Although, maybe taking the job would be perfect for the crowd griping about coach cig being too old. Give him 5 years at Bama before he is fired and looking for the next gig. According to them Cig will be on his way to shuffle board and apple sauce by then.
It may be about coaching at the pinnacle of college football.I'm guessing it will be leverage for a pay raise at Washington
But it's a pressure cooker. Especially following Saban. I don't envy the man that takes that job.It may be about coaching at the pinnacle of college football.
Nothing $11 million/yr or so can’t fix.But it's a pressure cooker. Especially following Saban. I don't envy the man that takes that job.
It depends on the individual, but it wouldn't be worth it to me. I'd be happy with 5 million and a lot less stress. I think he'd be better off taking the Seahawk job.Nothing $11 million/yr or so can’t fix.
The issue with Dabo is he hasn't transitioned well to the NIL era. At this point, I think DeBoer and Norvell are likely the favorites.Yeah I know what he meant I just can't see Deboer at Alabama
Exactly. He's a good coach but he lucked into Penix. He's his meal ticket.I agree with ce36ei that he may have taken Washington as far as he can. His OC almost went to Bama (IIRC Sayan offered him $2M) last year so maybe he cannot afford to keep him at UW. The prospect of losing both his OC & Penix may tell him he should move now.
If he gets a monster contract, he should give Penix a cut as he was the key to his Washington success.
*Sorry for the bold. Can't get it to go to normal font.
He doesn’t already?I could see it. He took Washington to their ceiling. Might as well make generational money.
How far below the “pinnacle” is the NC runner up?It may be about coaching at the pinnacle of college football.
Bama is a different animal.I could see it. He took Washington to their ceiling. Might as well make generational money.
Nothing $11 million/yr or so can’t fix.
A real coach wouldn’t run from pressure . A real coach would relish it. I think he is a real coach and if offered I believe he takes it.It depends on the individual, but it wouldn't be worth it to me. I'd be happy with 5 million and a lot less stress. I think he'd be better off taking the Seahawk job.
A coach who knows he's good, isn't worried about expectations. As a matter of fact, coaches often have to work try to establish expectations at a program. Going somewhere that already has those in place makes things easier to a coach who knows he's good. How far below the “pinnacle” is the NC runner up?
I think KD is too laid back for Bama. They think he walks on water in Washington now.
I think he sticks.
Yea but replacing a coach who won 7 titles?A coach who knows he's good, isn't worried about expectations. As a matter of fact, coaches often have to work try to establish expectations at a program. Going somewhere that already has those in place makes things easier to a coach who knows he's good.
Never follow a legend. He’ll need a better defense
Dabo refuses to use the portal and hates NIL. Now that IPTAY is obsolete, Clemson has became an also ran.The issue with Dabo is he hasn't transitioned well to the NIL era. At this point, I think DeBoer and Norvell are likely the favorites.
What? I would say Penix lucked into him.Exactly. He's a good coach but he lucked into Penix. He's his meal ticket.
I agree. But one thing Deboer has had a quarterback with numbers all the way back to Sioux FallsWhat? I would say Penix lucked into him.
For sure. Its that mindset that has us on the couch. The good ones see that as an opportunity, not a deterrent.Yea but replacing a coach who won 7 titles?
Pretty sure he could get an above average qb in TuscaloosaI agree. But one thing Deboer has had a quarterback with numbers all the way back to Sioux Falls
Any yankee would be crazy to take the Bama job unless he has an iron will. If Deboer takes it he better plan on never losing a game.I agree with ce36ei that he may have taken Washington as far as he can. The coach sets the tone. How have Riley's defenses done at Oklahoma and USC? Not convinced yet that Deboer is a Saban or Smart when it comes to putting a complete team together. It took Day years to get a D together.Deboer at Bama would be scary. Offense would be unstoppable. Just gotta have the right defensive coordinator in place. It could easily resemble the Lane Kiffin years at Bama with a competent DC.
The word is DeBoer flew into Alabama last evening so we will see soon who takes the job.
