Co-President Musk

So who are we using as the private sector. Look at many corporations that are unionized, most have rules that spell out how a union member is to be disciplined. Is that what you want, because that is what we have.

Or do you want the right to fire anyone at any time for any reason? given the political nature of government, I don't know how that leads to good things. Every 4 years we change over the entire government workforce will prove interesting.

I don't mind the idea of cutting, I think Crazy has hit the nail on the head. Too many people are seeing government workers as an enemy and are being way too happy the enemy is being fired. They aren't the enemy. If we have too many workers, do an analysis and RiF. If people are bad employees, fill out the paperwork (same GM would have to do for a line worker) and get rid of them.

But we are kidding ourselves if we don't think some excitement is the belief government workers are Ds and deserve being eliminated for that reason.
You’re presupposing. Being hyperbolic. Employment should be at will with the same protections the rest of us have. It’s not about viewing gov ees as evil. It’s about a failing organization. It’s 35 trillion in debt. 35 mil in poverty. Waste. Programs that aren’t working.
When an organization is failing to this degree massive change is needed

Most those ees are apolitical. The vagaries of politics or bent wouldn’t impact them if we are saving performing etc

Ees in dod think cuts are a bad idea. Shocker

Things need to be cut. 35 trillion in debt 35 mil in poverty. Our gov is broken
Every organization has a mission. If they're not funded for the mission, the organization shouldn't exist. The people I'm talking about are doing a mission which I think we'd all agree is important and necessary. What's going on now is idiotic. By the way, at least 80 percent of these people I've talked to are Trump voters. He's spending his political capital at a crazy rate.

It’s not about the mission. You have gov mentality. It’s about how to do the mission with much much less

There isn’t enough money. That’s it

The mission cannot possibly be done without enough funding. This is a fact. What's happening right now is making organizations totally ineffective and useless. Can fire everyone once that happens and it wouldn't be worse.

It’s amazing how similar gov and nonprofits are. Even the same verbiage. The mission. But they’re counting on our program at the Y. Well there’s no money for it. That’s it. We can’t afford it. We can’t afford to do everything

Then some missions have to go. What we are doing now is untenable. We’re already find some in USAID that need to go. The ees too. Just go from dept to dept

I've been talking with friends in the DoD the last few days and almost every single one of them is a Republican and they are unanimous that what Musk is doing is stupid and damaging. They're absolutely going to make their agency unable to do their mission. The ignorant among us will say that's great, but they're ignorant.
What would the DoD doing to correct problems without musk?

I read a few days ago that our transport ships are in such a state of disrepair that we couldn’t quickly respond with a rapid deployment of marines where needed. Is this true? That doesn’t look like a super power. A month or so ago, a tanker ran aground and couldn’t provide needed fuel to an aircraft carrier. We had no backup. That is another problem. And the DoD can’t pass an audit. Where does the money go if it doesn’t go to optimal readiness?

We'll see what happens when we can no longer counter China and Russia because of unnecessary, and stupid, personnel cuts. I honestly can't say exactly which organizations I'm talking about because of classification, but any realistic person except loony moonbats would be aghast at what's potentially going to happen.

I haven’t spoken to one person who thinks the average Government worker is the enemy.

It’s a lame excuse being used because liberals/Democrats, like yourself, do have issues with cuts and want to redirect the narrative away from all the government waste and grift being exposed.

Something has to change. The pentagon has no idea where its money goes.

You're presuming there are problems across the board and that's not true.

Your facts on the rest of the post are false. The Navy was never in a situation in which they couldn't refuel a task group.

What’s funny. If there isn’t enough money there isn’t.

IIRC, The work arounds you mentioned was going into a port. Another was securing private tankers. Both seem to me to be unsatisfactory and time consuming. It was true the Navy had no readily available back up tanker.

Do you know anything about the shortage of transports? Is that true?

The Trump administration isn't going to cut DoD funding. Hegseth said it, and so did Trump. What they're doing is causing unnecessary problems which will need to be fixed and that will actually cost MORE money.

We've used "private" tankers for years. They're not really private, we contract for them. One thing is absolutely not true and that is that we couldn't support any Navy task group while it was deployed. This is fact.

What are they doing? Hopefully learning why they can’t account for their money

The organizations I was involved with can account for every dime of their funding. That the DoD as a whole can't account for all their money over the years doesn't mean that individual organizations within DoD don't. For example, every dime of every dollar in our budget for all six ships I was assigned to was accounted for. Also, you might not have seen it, but the Marine Corps just passed their second annual audit. The DoD is humongous.

Isn't that the role of Congress, to determine mission? I may not like it if we decide to buy Putin a fleet of yachts, but if Congress passes and overrides a veto, what gives musk the right to block it?

And yes they need to operate within strictures. We are 35 trillion in debt.

Russell Bought, now head of OMB, once said:

We want the bureaucrats to be traumatically affected. We want them to wake up and not want to go to work. We want their funding to be shut down. We want to put them in trauma.”
If you haven't read, seen, nor heard of people hating on faceless bureaucrats you are in the cave bin Laden was in.

FBI, border patrol, IRS, EPA, are all seen as enemies. I am sure others

Congress does two important things. They pass authorizations to do things which mean nothing unless they're funded. The funding is done by appropriations. We have tons of authorizations (i.e. missions) which aren't funded, which means they aren't happening. Usually that isn't the case with national security authorizations, but that's becoming the case now. By the way, there isn't anything legal about how this administration is doing things in that regard. Problem is, who is going to hold them accountable? The FBI and DoJ have been neutered, and the balls of every Republican Senator have been removed and put in mason jars to be stored for display in the Oval Office.

With private tankers isn’t there an issue with the hookups and transfer of fuel to navy ships? Especially the jet fuel.? That’s what I recall any way.

Isn't it the role of Congress? They control the purse. Where in the Constitution does it give Musk power to cut the budget
Exactly. How’s that working out?

Oh but now they’re talking about it. Why don’t you like that? See the Dem from Calif talking about waste I posted above

Great! We might see some change

The f#cking assholes are the politicians responsible for creating those jobs and waste. When those jobs eventually get axed (because we’re broke) you are correct innocent bystanders unfairly get their lives uprooted.

However, the f#cking pieces of shit in this situation are the politicians refusing to be moral and make difficult choices because they were more concerned with getting reelected. And yes there are plenty of GOP politicians that are just as guilty.
Namely the Biden administration. We’ve been canaries in the coal mine on this. That the explosion of government hiring was going to come back to bite us.

It really inflated the Biden admin jobs #’s as well. I don’t know if anyone needs to hear this, but we can’t all work for the government, someone has to pay the salaries.

6% growth in federal headcount under Biden. USAID nearly doubled in budget. Nearly HALF of the current civilian Federal workforce was hired under Biden. These numbers are INSANE.

Similar to deportations, the most recent should go first.

The Department of Education shouldn’t exist. It doesn’t mean I think the average person working there is my enemy. Russell doesn’t hate the average Joe or Jane worker.

Here’s another thing musk is doing. Addressing perception that gov is wasteful and ineffectual. It’s real hard to ask people for more money when that is the perception.

Can you imagine that in the private sector. Hey we can’t pass an audit but we need you investors to pony up more dough. You’d say forget it. Where’s the money

What you are saying is, "we have an emergency so we need a dictator."

We have laws. Musk can look and make recommendations. Trump can ask permission to not spend. But Congress determines what is spent, full stop.

Crazy had it right, the next Democrat will do all this too. You will get Medicare for all whether you want it, or Congress votes for it. The precedent is set, we don't need Congress involved.

And crazy does have that part right. Maybe Dems will cut the Republican half and we’ll get both sides.

For the 50th fcking time I get that re congress I linked I believe to you re a Dem congressman saying there is waste and this needs to go before congress? Did you read that. Did you comprehend it?

We’re having a discussion. About issues that are vital . A discussion that would not have occurred under Harris. Full stop!

You think this would be the narrative and posture under Harris? Shed a light on waste and put the onus on congress

I'd have to disagree with this. I bet $ (the ex bitches now) that they know exactly where it goes. Just sayin !
There's a difference between not knowing and not being able to tell.

Who does he want "put into trauma"?
He’s referring to the system and grifters at the top that benefit from it and get wealthy. Not the average federal worker.

Do you think when liberals say they want to end the military industrial complex or make cuts to the military, it’s because they think the common soldier is their enemy? That’s a rhetorical question.

I just learned that at target with my daughter and her two friends. One of them got fanned right in the middle of the store!!! She waved to this kid and he didn’t wave back. Disaster

Who mentioned Harris? Have you ever heard me tout Harris.

Let's use some examples. USAID may need shut down. Who has the legal power to do it? If there are abuses, show them and let Congress do something. But that isn't what happened, correct?

Did Congress appropriate money to buy out employees who leave? Does Trump have any legal authority to even make the offer without Congress.
