If the next Democrat Presodent doesn't attempt to do that, he or she is a damn fool. Why not? The precedent is set and there are plenty of studies they can point to that would indicate it would save money. "I am just cutting costs and reallocation funds like President Trump did."

There is no way of a private carrier knowing what is in your parcel if you don’t want them to. If they feel they need to open a parcel for whatever it must be taken back to the hub and opened by a member of the company’s security team.
If a driver is caught opening or mishandling a parcel, they are terminated and could be in breach of law.
They do collect delivery data. As does USPS. It’s part of route coordination.
