1. We're going to benefit from a seasoned, steady hand. No more sideline antics, emotional rollercoasters, etc.

2. He's used to doing more with less. Let's face it. That is what's needed at Indiana Football.

3. He's 62, so he's at the sunset of his career. But that is good. He's here for Indiana and only Indiana. He's here to create his masterpiece, not a stepping stone, or an internship.

Exactly
Also when the time comes he will be a very good voice in the hiring of his successor.

I only wish he isn't coaching the bowl game. We need to recruit. Our current players and new ones. He's going to be behind. But it is what it is.

Hiring Hazell in the first place was the biggest error on Purdue's part. Letting him coach Kent State in the bowl game was the second. Too much to be done in recruiting. With NIL and the portal it has gotten even worse.

Exactamundo.

The fact that he's won everywhere he's been, was an assistant at Alabama, turned an FCS school into an FBS one at JMU, played QB at an FBS school, and his father is a Hall of Fame coach makes this an unquestionable hire. No one can say the AD hired the wrong guy again, etc. The only potential drawback to this is if he finds a rough go of it in the Big Ten, then unfortunately we would have to hear: "It's Indiana." "It's a basketball school." "We should join the MAC."

1st coaching Kent state in their bowl game had absolutely nothing to do with Hazell’s failure
2nd what makes you think we are even remotely interested in your opinion?

Dumb. If he stayed at JMU he would still be dealing with recruiting, portal etc…he’s no Hazel if that’s what you’re getting at.

As if all the other HCing responsibilities wouldn't be taking place at JMU if CC stayed with the Dukes. So shallow.
Hazell couldn't rub his chest and pat his head at the same time. By the way is he still 2nd lead at the car wash?

Because regardless of the source, those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it. Bob Blackman at Illinois, Muddy Waters at MSU, Jerry Kill at Minnesota. Hall of Fame coaches who stepped into Big Ten Head Cosching jobs and posted .500 or below records.

Number 3 is a big point. We've been down so long you hear people say "even if we get a good coach some other team will poach him away." I would think Cignetti views this as his last job.
The other day I was talking to a PU fan and the other thing you hear is “it doesn’t matter who we get it’s Indiana”. Pissed me off. He said he hopes we get a good coach. Told him to be careful what he hopes for.

Is your point that Hazell coaching the bowl game was his Waterloo or that Pukies should come here and point out potential problems of our athletic programs and we should listen.
