Connor Bedard should probably have his own thread, but let's keep him here:
My son has been practicing bucket drumming and wants to go sit in front of the stadium for home games and drum and try to make his first million. Opinions on the advisability of that?
Do any other cities have bucket drummers like Chicago? I've never seen it anywhere else.
For sure. Even the homeless have an angle. A dog that pretends to be drunk. Etc. I love it. Always give them money.
You should probably move out of Chicago.Need to get those government run stores the mayor wants up and running asap. Will solve everything.
It was satire.you can tell I've been living in the burbs forever...the thought of "casinos" bring "nice new elements" to neighborhoods....my brain hurts trying to process that data. I guess I have a different view of 'neighborhoods'.
Migrant musical chairs.Migrant family journeys back to Venezuela, more leaving Chicago as winter looms: ‘The American Dream doesn’t exist anymore’
Over the past five months since arriving in Chicago, Andrea Carolina Sevilla’s parents have been unable to enroll her in school even though the reason they left everything behind in their nat…www.chicagotribune.com
I don't think poverty counts on an asylum application, and that appears to be what all those interviewed here are saying their reason is for being here.
Also, this is so stupid:
"But while some migrants are choosing to leave, many more still arrive every week. In what could be considered a revolving door for taxpayers, for example, Catholic Charities of Chicago is using Illinois taxpayer money to transport the migrants who want to return to Texas or to other states while simultaneously the Catholic Charities of San Antonio and the city of Denver are using federal taxpayer money to send new migrants to Chicago."

There's a 99% chance the guy is mentally ill. But no one can do anything about it, his family and community either can't or won't take care of him, and so he's shuffled around from place to place. Now you did it, BeetleHoops will be along any minute…
As far as this guy goes, we’re way to stingy with the death penalty…
Maybe, but I believe that bad people exist & realize they’re doing bad things to other people. Is that mental illness, possibly, but almost certainly the world is a better place without him. There's a 99% chance the guy is mentally ill. It's a huge problem, but in a nation that values freedom as much as we do, we put up with it. I don't know how to solve the issue without re-instituting forced institutionalization, which had its own evils and horror stories.
So is Mayor Johnson engaging in "victimhood" here? Those far right extremists in MAGA hats are sure plentiful in Chicago
Chicago's Mayor Johnson blames his predecessor for migrants crisis
Chicago's Mayor Brandon Johnson claims he 'inherited' the city's spiraling migrant crisis and lashed out at Lori Lightfoot's former administration.www.dailymail.co.uk
Mayor Johnson also blamed the 'far right' for Chicago's ills during Tuesday's press conference.
'What we've seen is a very raggedy form of right-wing extremism,' the woke Mayor said. 'Everyone knows that the right-wing extremism in this country has targeted democratically run cities and quite frankly and they have been quite intentional about going after democratically ran cities that are led by people of color.'
'There intention is to create division and chaos because that is what that particular political party has been about.
'It is the same party that wouldn't accept that President Obama was actually an American. It's the same Republican right-wing extremism that stormed the capital, its the same right wing extremism that refuses to accept the results of the civil war. Its raggedy its disrespectful, its mean spirited.'
'It is abysmal and it is an affront for everything that is good about this country for the extremism in this country to use people as political tools to settle political scores for something that happened over 400 years ago. They're still mad that a black man is free in this country.
