Brohm

As I stated last year... Purdue actually had some good players, particularly on defense. The Linebacker Bentley is going to be a STAR for the patriots based on what I saw this preseason. He’s just one example. They really had a good defense last year, and I’ve thought they had good players the whole time. Hazel was just a horrible coach and didn’t utilize the talent he had. I know that some will say the recruiting rankings prove they didn’t have a good team, but I pay no attention to that. What I saw on film and competing against them was a decent team with no coaching. But those guys are gone. So in a weird way Brohm benefited from the players Hazel left him, particularly on defense, but he was what was needed to give them structure so that they could succeed. Now that those players are gone, it’s exposing that Brohm will have to rebuild that defense. They also had some graduate transfers last year and one of Brohms guys from WKU on that defense, so Purdue to an extent is getting exposed. Now it’ll be up to whether or not Brohm can recruit guys who fit his system. I think that CTA has the edge in recruiting for the future.

Personally, I thought PU was going to have a solid season. It can improve but the road ahead aint easy for them. What disturbed me today about PU was the obvious undisciplined nature of their play. Key penalties, fumbles from not securing the ball properly, both in the fundamental category. If it were Allen Id be as hard on them. You cant play that way and win. They have talent but what will come of it is anyone's guess. Cheap shots were common. But they can run the ball. But it aint enough. Brough (Sp) tends to just chuck the ball up when pressure gets to him. That should be our game plan if he is still upright come our game. Not pretty but the weather was some of it. The rest leaves lots of questions for PU coaches and fans.

Sometimes you need to be thrown under the bus then backed over a few times in the following weeks practice..
I think you keep that inhouse...not bitching to the reporters who cant fix anything but it does cover your butt...

IN post game...did Brohm just throw his team under the bus??
Sounds like a frustrated coach that was probably banking on a big payday somewhere so a little panic is setting in. Time to place the blame to save face. This could implode quickly up there. If they want to even have a shot at bowling they have to win Saturday. They’ve really dug a hole for themselves

He took responsibility for the boneheaded fouls as he should have, if you watched the BTN gold and black days, he clearly established the attitude you see,

I was struck by one screaming rant in front if the team " if somebody accidentally touches you, they better be careful or they might end up thrown in the stands". They apparently were listening.

If recruiting rankings have any relevance, why do you believe Allen has an advantage over Brohm?

I could never figure out why a lot of the press were picking them to be so good. Now they were much improved for the previous season that is a given. But their schedule last year wasn't real tough and they got some really good brakes. I think they have a much tougher schedule this year. Their QB's much overrated. I picked them to go 4-8 at the beginning of the year. Same with their bb team. They have Carson back and an improved center, but they lost a lot of players.

According to recruiting rankings Allen signed the 45th best class last year and Purdue signed the 49th best. They beat out purdue on TOS too whats your point? Also if you are referring to this years unsigned class it is what it is UNSIGNED so it means zilch especially with the downward spiral purdue finds themselves in.

The debate (your having with yourself) carries no merit.

The 2018 rankings for IU and Purdue basically ended in a dead heat, if you look at the player and team rankings, so the data “your” citing isn’t a full view. As for the current classes, there really isn’t much of a debate to be had.

Why in the world would I watch black and gold days??? It was Fleck garbage all last year and this year it is b&g.
BTN stinks.

I’ve said this on the board for a while now. I think they had better players, despite some of the rankings on Rivals than even what their own fans give credit for. Bentley was a solid LB. Robinson, Neal. Knox and Jones. They were Big Ten players.

Slight edge to TA despite having a ton of quick PT to sell. Considering this, the gap is deceivingly small.
