At least 10 dead in Buffalo shooting

He was fired upon and struck. Was wearing body armor.
Oh yeah, well l if just one person in that grocery store midday was armed with body armor-piercing weaponry and trained to use it - like Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Van Damme in all those 80s movies - we wouldn't be in this situation.

You clearly aren't read up on your New Testament.

Yeah, the good guy with a gun did his best and was shot and killed. Tragic.

All we can do is protect ourselves. This young man wrote that he picked New York because of the gun laws. He knew there weren't going to be people armed. If just one person in that store had a gun and was trained to use it then the carnage would not have been as bad. The Left wants to remove guns from the law abiding. I say we need the law abiding to be armed. One thing I notice is when trouble happens what do we do? We call the police. What does the police have? Guns. A good man with a gun can do a lot of good. In fact I can't remember where I saw this but a point was made about how guns have saved more lives every year than they have taken.
Hell, I’ve actually created lives with my pistol.

And no, @larsIU, I’m not telling you more… 😉

If he was being shot at then he most likely would have barricaded himself somewhere. It would have slowed him down. And who knows he might have panicked and left. It is a lot easier to shoot people when nobody is shooting back.
"IF"

No dude. He was fired upon.

He chose New York because he lived in New York and wanted the town with a high propensity to Black people within driving distance of his rural conservative community.

I have no idea where you get your news (facts) from, but you need new sources. There was an armed (ex-LEO) security guard on duty, which he knew because he had done a visit on Fri, as well as an earlier recon visit in March. His manifesto mentioned that his first task was to kill the guard, and he also listed one of his objectives was to SURVIVE, and assuming he was able to exit the store he also wanted to shoot random Black people on the street as he drove away and thru the neighborhood...

All of your nonsense about a "good man with a gun" is pretty ridiculous considering the armed security guard shot him twice but was unable to inflict any wounds because Gendron was wearing body armor. And the security guard who shot him, was killed, so exactly which of those elderly patrons that were killed do you think would have fared better? In addition this neighborhood market was basically a gathering place providing a food oasis in an area where there were no other grocery food outlets within a reasonable distance. It's an extremely poor urban area where people can barely buy food. How are they going to afford to buy weapons?

I find it increasingly difficult to believe that this guy is a church pastor. He's uninformed and uninspiring.

But c'mon, dude, those old ladies should have been packing.

Many pastors are like that. A combination of PT Barnum and David Koresh. Make the people scared and empty their pockets, all while smugly proclaiming to lead the flock on some rightious quest. Doing God's will.

"Don't make me holler, don't make me shout, just turn those pockets INSIDE OUT".

What?

There was a retired POLICE officer with a GUN that hit him I believe four times. He was wearing body armor so it didn't penetrate. The retired POLICE officer didn't have a chance in the fight.

You don't know what you're talking about here.

True, but that requires some combination of intelligence, persuasion and charisma. That third trait can be hard to discern from just the written word, but I see zero evidence in his posts of the first two.

Liz Cheney rips GOP over the shooting:

“The House GOP leadership has enabled white nationalism, white supremacy, and anti-semitism. History has taught us that what begins with words ends in far worse. GOP leaders must renounce and reject these views and those who hold them.”
Next she’s gonna wanna put it in Geico ads. 🙄

Van the security guard with a gun was killed. Haven’t you read about this. It didn’t help. More guns do not help and often hurt. A shoot out with multiple people with guns in a crowded store would have been even more of a disaster. He picked the place because it was the place closest to his home with the highest percentage of black people.

I’m not talking about the math part. GRT also supposedly speaks to a shift in political power. that part is a crock. Political power does not follow skin color, no matter how much the Democrats wish it should.

Oh, Hispanics are white. AOC is as white as I am.
Hispanics are White, but they are not perceived as such or we would not be having this debate on replacement theory and the fear of taco trucks on every street corner

Germans and Italians are White, they were hated when they came over in the 1800s. The 1800s replacement theory whicjlh I am sure was the fault of woke mobs. Slavery too
MtM, CoH, agree with both of you as neither party should give up on attracting voters regardless of skin color or nation of origin.

Starts with not thinking, or referring to them, as tokens of a political party. Treat them as human beings who can think for themselves and share the values of like minded folks of many skin colors and ethnic backgrounds.

Truth be known, the Buffalo shooter may have had more in common with some of the people he shot than he realized.

*May have had 😩

Don't tell anyone, but there are actually Asian food trucks around here that run out of food because they sell so much food!

Pretty soon we'll forks and knives will be banned and we'll be forced to eat with chopsticks!
God, I hope not. I've never been able to use chopsticks.

I go right to the sushi and spring rolls so I can eat with my fingers. If I need a utensil backup, I order soup so they'll bring me a spoon.

Sweetie, It's a message board. Anyone that spasticaly posts your doctrine like you do can expect to get responses. Jethro is too cute. If I used my name for you I would get in trouble.

You would be a lot better off to gain some self awareness vs the world according to Zeke mode you are always in.
"Doctrine"? Really?

So, you were just messing around on a message board and "doctrine" showed up in your reply to another post?

Nobody says "doctrine" to impress others unless they are describing a formal policy like, say, James Monroe, or someone else important.

Your use of "doctrine" was a dead giveaway that what you posted wasn't to be taken seriously.

(When you inevitably fire back uncontrollably, don't use the word "agenda," either. It's just as revealing that the reply is FOS.)

God, I hope not. I've never been able to use chopsticks.
I couldn’t either till I resolved to figure it the **** out. The key for me was to stabilize one chopstick between my thumb and my middle finger. That one’s locked in. It doesn’t move at all. The other one I hold firmly between my index finger and the tip of my thumb with the back part resting on the third part of the index finger. It just moves a tiny bit back-and-forth to the other chopstick. Thus you can pick things up easily if you want or you can simply use it as a little bit of a shovel.

maybe we can put a no gun zone sign in all the supermarket's?

That’s an absolutely pathetic comment. ’White nationalism” is a useless pejorative along the same lines as “white fragility” and ”white privilege”. Even if those things exist in certain contexts, they sure as hell are not a products of the Republican Party and the Republican Party doesn’t plant the seeds for mass murder.

The Democrats have been calling Republicans extemists and racists since Barry Goldwater. Every Democrat has called every Republican POTUS candidate a racist. It’s high time we consider the effects of the constant flow of Republicans are racists garbage has on the country. More black people are killed on a any typical summer weekend in Chicago than we’re killed in Buffalo. Ya wanna know why Biden and the Democrats don’t ever comment about that? Because they can’t bash Republicans for doing it. According to Biden, part of white privilege is the ability to hate. Blacks don’t hate. Browns don’t hate. Asians don’t hate. And this is Biden, the old white guy whose record of racism in congress matches Eastland, Thurmond, and Byrd.

So my message to Cheney the Democrats, and all elites, is to keep on with your stupid diversity, equity, and inclusion BS with a side order of GOP bashing. All of that is as useless as a screen door on a submarine. That does nothing to educate black kids, does nothing to address drug infested neighborhoods, does nothing about smash and grabs or car jackings. And most of all it does nothing to stem the tide of racism that flourishes in the bowels of society. All it does is make elites become more smug while society crumbles.

Sorry, I am just taking you literally as you repeatedly stress the evils of diversity, equity and inclusion I assume you want NOTHING done to stop bullying and the like. If you want bullying stopped, tell me how you do it without using diversity, equity, inclusion.

Republicans aren’t as racist as the KKK. Better?

Bullying is a huge issue. When President Biden said he was sick and tired of the unvaxxed, he was bullying. When he said the unvaxxed are killers he was bullying. When he connects white extremism to republicans, he is bullying. Bullying in schools was, is, and will be a problem. I am pretty sure that separating youngsters according to groups feeds bullying. Better would be to stop all mention of groups at young ages and talk about universal virtue. . For adults I’m pretty sure that officers of diversity, inclusion and equity doesn’t help, in fact it probably increases bullying opportunitie by those on the preachy side of diversity, inclusion and equity.

In sum, DEI officers and policies don’t do anything useful. Not that I am against those ideals, but those ideals are not fulfilled by fashionable labels and new offices. As with many things, if you need an office of virtue to be virtuous, you are well behind the objective.

I don't see how in this case a guard with a gun hurt the situation. I did not read about the guard dying. Thx for the info.

You are certain DEI is a failure. I am not arguing it is a success. I am saying the theory looks sound but we lack data.

DEI is new to public schools. I can find colleges touting it back to 1968 (Carnegie-Mellon). But public schools, I see almost nothing before 2020.

And the first water cooler post I see that used "diversity, equality" was May 11, 2001. If DEI were in widespread use in, say, 2018, should there not be complaints here from, say, 2018?

Post in thread 'Daily Show on Critical Race Theory' https://indiana.forums.rivals.com/threads/daily-show-on-critical-race-theory.210493/post-3202702

So I see no way anyone can claim it a screaming success or abject failure. I will agree with anyone suggesting we are spending too much on an unproven theory. It should be rolled out in a handful of pilot schools and tested.

But the only way you know it is a failure is that it does not match your worldview. I wonder why would have happened if you were cross-examining someone saying the world is flat and they had no evidence other than it matched their world view.

DEI is a new patina on an old concept. The elites act like it’s a new thing.

Afirmative action, minority preferences, minority outreach, quotas, and more is all there and has been for years. I don’t care how much you wanna talk about DEI, if we don’t educate minorities, clean up their drug infested neighborhoods, and make lives safe, DEI in the ivory towers doesnt mean anything.

Those things are all different. Having quotas and set-asides does not address what actually happens in the classroom. You can treat 5 people as unwanted interlopers as easily as 1.

I believe people like to believe they have empowerment, that includes students. If students buy in and make suggestions they believe are heard and considered, I think they will do better overall. I have no proof, it is being tested. The DEI I have been around seems to involve people being asked how the school can better cater to their needs.

Again, it may turn out to be wrong, we lack data.

Totally agree. This is just sound education and has been around ever since there has been teachers and students. what does DEI have to do with this? Its nothing new.
