Archie would be fired if this were Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina

I guess the bottom line is that people believe what they want to believe...always have, always do, and always will. Let me give you an example. I equate Myles Brand with that of an ass hole (visualize tightly wound sphincter muscle here, if you will). Someone even wrote a book about it, “As A Man Thinketh” (so it is).
You’re welcome to disagree with and wholly ignore the facts, as you’re doing here. But you can’t change them.

If he safely makes the ncaa in the next two years he will get an extension. Thats big success at iu these days.

I just don't see it. I am one of the few here that attend games and folks are not accepting or lowered their expectations. The grads I deal with and read outside of TAH are the same. Obviously there is a spectrum out there but acceptance and low expectations is simply not something I experience to any significant extent.

My law school friends and friends from my neighborhood (of which there are 4 IU alums) have stopped watching, or caring. They've moved on to other things. Apathy has set in.

It’s something that has happened over years, and I really don’t think most people are consciously aware of it.

It’s like how Hemingway answered a friend who had asked him how he went bankrupt. “Gradually...then suddenly.”

It’s quite a thing to behold that we’re talking about a tournament bid as a benchmark of success.

Indeed I see some of that but certainly not the "acceptance" and "we got what we asked for" garbage I see here
Indifference is basically the same thing as acceptance - particularly if you didn’t start there.

It’s what the financial world refers to as “capitulation.”

Exactly. Apathy, which grows every day, is the progeny of lowered expectations. Amazed how many who claim fandom can’t see that. Of course, some who claim to attend and support obviously do not.

One man’s fact is another man’s fiction. Red can appear gray and yellow white, but only you decide which is right and which is an illusion. Live hand in hand and together we’ll stand on the threshold of a dream.

A very overrated tune that rated higher than deserved because of the narration / gong at the end. Otherwise, it was mud puddle deep.

It was the summer birds with wings of fire flaying who came to Spring’s new hope, born of leaves decaying. I’ve had that whole Moody Blues soliloquy memorized for over 40 years. When recited atop a tree stump, it’s a proven show-stopper around late night bonfires, deep in forest’s slumber.

Indifference is generally a symptom of bandwagon fandom. I could not care less about those folks.

Damn...the level of your obsession (and bitter ignorance) is spectacular.

You might not, but they all matter. Ticket sales, merch, TV viewership.

No sports program wants apathetic fans. That only puts that much more financial pressure on.

Through all the lean years, none of those things have suffered much.

We can happily do without the non-grad bandwagoners, Hoop Loopers, and wannabes.

No, it’s not. It’s a symptom of a poorly ran organization or in this case program. I don’t understand the incessant need to shift blame from the administration.

You’re so deranged you don’t even know which responses you’re replying to. It underscores how deep in your empty head I reside. Rent free. Busting you as a faux fan and IU guy is just a bonus.

Apathy in the program increases every day.

Care to quantify this claim or is just a gut feeling? You may be right, but how are you measuring this? More empty seats has been discussed but all of college basketball is feeling that. Is it more that 12 emotional dudes keep posting the same claim again and again, day after day, on this board? Based on that, it’s a pretty engaged form of apathy. Lol

Check out the empties that are becoming more prevalent at AH. If we were a contending team, those seats would be full.

Just my eyes. Strange that you wouldn’t notice, but that probably because, like everything else here, you don’t seem to pay attention.

lol. People have been saying this since the 90s. It’s like the same 1000 kids having been skipping games for 25 years. I wish they’d graduate already. Hehe

No I was at iu in the 90s. The balconies were full for big ten games etc. I will also say that these boards have a tiny fraction of the activity they had years ago. Today there are only about a dozen posters active on the free board. I haven’t been a premium member in ages and can’t speak to that. It’s a shadow of how it used to be on the free boards though. Apathy has set in. Anecdotal evidence but still evidence. Now I will also say I think you are correct that interest in college b-ball and sports in general along with attendance are down everywhere. So I agree that too is part of the equation.

There are still alot of people who think everything is great. Go read posts on some other sites they think things are just fine. The apathy with the program is only getting worse so expectations continue to be lowered. Making the tourney will be considered a big success.

You must not get out much.

Many of the good posters left over the past three years due to the mods allowing the trolls to run the asylum...and I am not going to put up with it for much longer. Unfortunate.

As for the empty seats in TAH, the East balcony is often near empty as the students choose to stay home and watch with free beer. Glass failed to listen to my calls to sell 2K of the student seats to waiting young alumni or lower budget fans in general. I assure you my first email to the new AD will cover that topic.

Where did the posters go? They certainly aren't on Peegs.

Btownbanners and HoosierSportsNation both have very active forums. Insidethehall has a very active premium forum.

None of those sites allow the trolls and morons to run rampant.... this place is basically a cess poll for the drunk and mentally ill.

Ha. Got it.

Agreed. There are a plethora of places to discuss IU basketball with more knowledgeable fans and have access to much more program specific information.

Looking at those now, thanks
