Can't blame Mullins, he picked a known winner and a legit chance at a national title. IU can't compete with that right now.

can we all just agree, once and for all, that he-who-shall-not-be named is never going to coach at IU? And then stop mentioning his name in these 'what's next for us' discussions?
That shipped sailed over a decade ago. We had a slim chance, an opening, during CTC's 2nd-3rd year floundering, but signing Cody gave him a reprieve, and that was that.

I guess define underachieving. Buckner and Co will no doubt find a 3-5 B1G finish and a S16 to be a roaring success.
Never in my lifetime did I imagine IU would morph from a basketball school to one of football dominance…that is, until now as a 63 year follower, still counting.
Let’s face it, a 3-5 B1G finish with a S16 would find us all giddy at this point of our 25 year post-Knight demise.
I think it's now safe to conclude that you're the latest incarnation of Ducati, Twin Degrees, etc.
Would be underachieving once again given that we clearly have the best roster in the league along with an easy schedule.
A Sweet Sixteen will save Woodson. Anything less and I expect he will be pushed out. And I don’t expect IU to make the Sweet Sixteen. The talent is there, the coaching is not.

It’s a wild choice to be obsessed with IU nearly everyday for so many years.
As we know, best rosters don’t always equate to best team. Maybe we should just hope this roster is so talented with 6 players averaging over 10 pts/game, even Mike can’t screw it up.
Basketball expectations are always high at IU, thanks to RMK. It’s been the demise of many IU coaches this past quarter century and still counting.

Woody has done nothing to win over the coaches in Indiana or Indy elite.
Portal will be only way Woody recruits well, he isn’t a relationship guy at all.
Mental and physical energy is required to establish and maintain those relationships. Immersed in the NBA culture, doors are opened for you. In the college game, the hungry succeed.
If IU underachieves again Woodson will completely lose the support of the fans and many boosters.
JMU had a great year last year in both FB & BBall. We got Cig. Vandy picked up their bball coach.
I think that time has come. IMHO This is his last shot with the majority for the fan base.
Yep. I tend to me more patient than most with coaches, but if Woody can't make the tournament or challenge for the BIG title with this team, I don't see much point in keeping him around. He isn't a tinkerer, so it's not as though he's likely to find some master-stroke in year 6 that would change everything. This is the "proof of concept" year.
i think with the money spent, the bar is set much higher than 'making the tournament'. This team has second-weekend-level talent (and cost). I think we'll be much improved on rebounding and more apt to push tempo. But I still worry about CMW's half court offense. Seems to bog down too much and just doesn't lead to enough open-look 3s.
Barring major injuries, my expectations are 24+ wins, top 2/3 in B1G and S16 minimum. That's what the NIL paid for.
Time for some accountability.
I believe he's focused on pushing tempo, because that's the only way he gets people more looks from deep. The half court offense over the past 3 seasons has been horrible in that regard. Up-tempo is likely the "new offense" he's talking about.
I don't base expectations on a single game single elimination tournament. Too much variability, which is proven by Tom Crean, Archie Miller, and Mike Davis doing well in it.
Getting in, however, and challenging for a big ten title are less variable.
