Rivals & Peegs both have offer lists. This list is intended to be a condensed version of guys I feel IU has a legit shot at.

Again, I know only what I've read on-line---no personal knowledge. The comments about who 'leads', initially, are all from the 247 site. IU offers of Indiana players ranked by 247 & Rivals are noted as such.

I'd welcome comments about additions and deletions. Also, errors.

I want Curry, Cooper, & Mullen. One has to assume that Big Brother will give us an inside track with Mullen. Tiawan really seems to have bought into what Allen is doing with the defense.

Overall though, I want guys who want to live the culture. Top-end talent is obviously a luxury everyone would love to have, but I'd rather have a high 3* who is going to make the program better than a low to mid 4* who isn't all about the culture.

I trust the coaches to get their kind of guys.

Seems like we're in the best shape with Jackson, Cooper, Davis, Livingston, Strickland, Mullen?

Honestly, from the articles I have read, on our Dline, he would play wherever he wanted.

First believe the kid Caden is a DE, as in "the next coming of Bosa" DE, not a DT. And per the comment above, the IU DL has played very well, and if you don't agree, see 13 (or was it 18) total running yards to Michigan, that's insane. The pure QB sacks from front 4 isn't of the charts, so that I do concur. But we rotate a lot of players on DL who are controlling the line, stopping the run and at least taking up space to allow some blitz schemes to work as Mullin & Taylor can attest!

That was not meant as a slight against our dline. I was thinking of him as a JJ Watt type with the speed and power to line up all over the place.

IU dline is playing very well.

Curry is an absolute beast at Center Grove. The Bosa tag is very much deserved.

Anyone know anything about Popeye Williams? I find it interesting that he has an offer from Alabama, but not from us? That doesn't make much sense to me.

Wow...hadn't realized that....and both 247 & Rivals say we have not offered, even though rivals lists 2 informal visits in 2019.

Time to make a first stab at 2022 IU football recruiting. Rivals & Peegs both have offer lists. This list is intended to be a condensed version of guys I feel IU has a legit shot at. That's pretty much a guess at this point on the out-of-staters.

Again, I know only what I've read on-line---no personal knowledge. The comments about who 'leads', initially, are all from the 247 site. IU offers of Indiana players ranked by 247 & Rivals are noted as such.

Unfortunately, we've already lost out on some top Indiana prospects. #3 247 & Rivals OT Joey Tanona is a ND commit; #5/2 QB Brady Allen is a Purdue commit; Also, #1/1 DT Caden Curry & #2/6 OT Kiyaunta Goodwin are OSU leans.

I'd welcome comments about additions and deletions. Also, errors.

So here goes:

1. Tayven Jackson, QB, Greenwood, IN, 6'5" 185 lbs, #9 247, #9 Riv
2. Chad Mascoe, QB, Kissimmee, FL, 6'0" 220 lbs, AUB, FL, IU lead
3. Gi'Bran Payne, TB, Cincy, OH, 5'10" 190 lbs
4. Omar Cooper, WR, Indy, 6'1" 170 lbs, #6 247, #7 Riv
5. Rian Black, WR, Rockledge, FL, 6'0" 188 lbs
6. Jeffrey Simmons, TE, Fishers, 6'6" 203 lbs
7. Kiyaunta Goodwin, OT, Charlestown, IN, 6'7" 300 lbs, #2 247, #6 R, OSU leads
8. Keylen Davis, OT, Indy, 6'4" 280 lbs, #11 247
9. Landen Livingston, OT, Leo, IN, 6'4" 280 lbs, #12 247, #10 Riv
9. Demon (DJ) Moore, G, Ft Wayne, IN, 6'4" 295 lbs, #6 247, #4 Riv, ASU, IU, OSU, PSU lead
10. Cameron Robertson, WDE, Plano, TX, 6'5" 220 lbs
11. Popeye Williams, WDE, Westfield, IN, #7 247, #8 Riv, MSU, PSU, WIS lead
12. Joe Strickland, SDE, Indy, #4 247, #5 Riv, IU, UM, PSU, PUR lead
13. Aaron Wilson, SDE, Baltimore, MD, 6'2" 235 lbs
14. Caden Curry, DT, Center Grove, IN, 6'5" 250 lbs, #1 247, #1 Riv, OSU leads

19. Jaheim Singleton, CB, Jacksonville, FL, 6'1" 170 lbs
20. Braxton Myers, CB, Plano, TX, 6' 0" 176 lbs
21. James Monds III, CB, Fort Pierre, LA, 5'10" 177 lbs
22. Kamari Wilson, S, Bradenton, FL, 6'1" 195 lbs
I think IU picked a great year to be a top 10 National Program. Several of these kids have IU in their top 2 or 3 schools and I expect IU will land some of them. Instate looks solid again for this class as well, especially along both lines with several high end power 5 guys. This class should also be a pretty large one in terms of verbals, as several will end their careers in 2021 despite the carry over. Future is bright.

What's your thinking there?
My opinion has nothing to do with his physical skills and is based completely on my concerns about fit into what Coach Allen is building, motor, and mentality. Charlestown is Godwin’s 3rd high school in three years. He is from Louisville, KY, not Indiana (I’ll get to that in a moment).
His freshman year, he played at Holy Cross in Louisville, a small private school that is generally pretty competitive. They went 5-6 that year. In the two seasons after Goodwin, HC went 12-3 and 6-1.

His sophomore year, Goodwin transferred to Ballard HS in Louisville. Ballard has 1900 students. Big exposure, big town, high competition schedule. Ballard was 8-5 the year before Goodwin, 6-5 with him, and 2-2 without.

His junior year he transfers to Charlestown HS, Indiana. It’s located 10 miles from Louisville. He transferred after the start of school. Family did not move. Charlestown has just under 700 students and does not play a super competitive schedule. Certainly not one that would challenge a 5* recruit. The two years prior to Goodwin, Charlestown was 7-3 and 8-3. They were 3-7 with him this year.

All records are from maxpreps. Granted, there can be many reasons why the records for each school are what they are. But 3 schools in 3 years is a red flag to me.

Goodwin’s family did not move to Charlestown. He has no other family in Charlestown that I am aware. His only connections to the town and school are a pair of Charlestown football players (the pair are brothers, one in the same class as Goodwin, the other is a grayshirt freshman at a MAC school). The brothers and Goodwin go to the same gym (in Louisville) that is run by Chris Vaughn. Vaughn is originally from Connecticut but played football at UofL and was a captain.

Lastly, after arriving at Charlestown and throughout the season, there has been much discussion among Charlestown football parents and players that Goodwin has a low motor, and takes plays off in practice and games. Much of this discussion comes from skill players and not lineman. Internally, things are not good at Charlestown football and got much worse this year.

I have nothing personal with Goodwin. These are my observations and what I’m hearing locally.

ok, thanks.

15. Terrance Brooks, LB, Plano TX, 6'0" 185 lbs
16. Edwin Kolenge, LB, Clearwater, FL, 6'3" 225 lbs
17. Trevell Mullen, CB, Pompano Beach, FL, 5'11" 150 lbs, FLA, IU, ORE lead
18. Kalen Carroll, CB, Brownsburg, IN, 6'1" 170 lbs, #10 247
19. Jaheim Singleton, CB, Jacksonville, FL, 6'1" 170 lbs
20. Braxton Myers, CB, Plano, TX, 6' 0" 176 lbs
21. James Monds III, CB, Fort Pierre, LA, 5'10" 177 lbs
22. Kamari Wilson, S, Bradenton, FL, 6'1" 195 lbs
I'm not sure about "losing out" to Purdue for Brady Allen. McCully signed with Indiana first and then Allen went with Purdue. Not saying Allen is not good, never seen him play, but I don't believe his stats were that great against some of the better teams they played this year.

Allen was a heavy Purdue lean well before McCulley committed.

Would LOVE to add another Mullen at CB! Then would love to see the two OSU leans (Goodwin & Curry) see last weekend's IU game and say "hey, let's stay home and help get IU over the top!"

Per Tayven Jackson, confused me seeing "Greenwood" as he's on the same team as Caden Curry, so I'd suggest switching him to Center Grove, IN. As the baby brother of our basketball stud and coming from a great program, I'd be more than fine if he came to IU (and let Brady Allen go to PU).

And wouldn't Landon Livingston be a shoe in for IU coming from LEO, IN???

We need great OL talent to have that room match the quality of our other position groups talent level. And can never have too many good DL/DE or DBs can we? Plus, after we get the talent from Indiana we really want (see above) then give me some FL, GA, TN, MS players like we've been getting and keep the talent train rolling!

Allen had better offers than PU ( IU, Wisky, WV, VaTech) but PU has a gap in quality QBs that the others don't. Didn't want to ride the bench behind McCulley and who can blame him. Might have a good career,

A 4* QB in each of the two classes before him wouldn’t really qualify as a gap in quality. He’s also rated much higher than McCulley FYI.

Center Grove is unincorporated. Hence Greenwood is probably his mailing address.
You will notice Bryant Fitzgerald is from Indianapolis. Different reason, but Avon gets no credit on the roster.

Here you are messing with the facts again. First you are comparing two players from different years-apples and oranges. Second they are both rated 90 by 247 which is considered the standard. A good example is Khristian Lander rated #2PG in his class I believe but when he moved up a year he dopped to around #5

IU plays Cincinnati next year

I'd like to see Luke F. jump elsewhere. We complete with them on guys out of Ohio, and haven't been winning many of those contests. However, he'd have a have big-time offer to leave his Ohio recruiting grounds, and he may not be as attractive to schools outside the Midwest.

Thinking some more about this.......I don't think a Southern or Western program would want to pay him $4-5M/year, because he's such an Ohio guy. And because of that seems like a much better job than MW programs like Illinois or Purdue. I wonder if he's take the Michigan job if offered? That would be interesting.

I would if I were him. The most Michigan of Michigan Men (Bo Schembechler himself) was an Ohio born/bred Woody Hayes guy.

This is an interesting comment from you as I know you have more inside info than I but right now I count 84 guys who would be eligible to return in ‘22, with an 85 scholarship limit! Must be a lot of guys you think will leave/quit/graduate or not get offered for that fifth year (I realize eligibility does not gaurantee a scholarship).

The ‘21 freshman class currently stands at 44 kids.

CTA will face some tough decisions in ‘22.

yes....you'd think not too many MW programs he'd leave Cincy for....Michigan? Penn State? Has to be somewhere were he could continue to recruit Ohio and have a shot at a top 10 program.

Luke would never go to scUM. He is a Buckeye through and through. He will take another job at some point but if the job at tOSU opens up he would jump at the chance to coach there.

Must be a lot of guys you think will leave/quit/graduate or not get offered for that fifth year (I realize eligibility does not gaurantee a scholarship).

The ‘21 freshman class currently stands at 44 kids.

CTA will face some tough decisions in ‘22.
I expect we sign 20ish kids in 2022. How that will actually occur isn't as clear, but I am not expect a tiny class.

--Tayven Jackson, QB, Greenwood, IN, 6'5" 185 lbs, #9 247, #9 Riv

Bumping with a recruiting note....Eian Pugh, 6'4" WR out of Oak Park, ILL., chose Cincy over IU.

I hope Fickell gets a new job soon. Cincy & IU are recruiting a lot of the same players.

I've added two names: Jadairion Smith, WDE out of Louisville, 6'4" 220 lbs, with offers from IU, UL, and 4 MAC schools. He lists IU as "warm" in 247...the only one listed that way. #12 rated player in Kentucky, #41 WDE nationally.

Also Keslon Jackson, 6'0" 170 lb WR out of Lake, Charles, LA, #20 player in LA lists IU, OK State, and S. Alabama as leading his offer list.

Does anyone know if IU is pursuing transfer Owen Carney, 6'3" 260 lbs DE, 2nd team ABT from Illinois? PSU or FSU may lead....just asking if IU is in the picture.

EDIT: Someone needs to start a transfer portal discussion thread!!
