that electing Republicans is a "danger to democracy"?

2. In your area elections, are the "local" candidates screeching that their opponent is "backed by" the national boogeymen of the other side (Trump/Biden) and/or (pro-Roe/anti-Roe)?

3. In your local area elections, are your candidates talking about school issues (masking mandates, CRT, sex)?

Asking for a voting friend.

I have seen an ad from Alexander Choi (R) saying that J.D. Ford is an evil Biden/Pelosi far-left socialist who we can't "afford" (get it?).
Since I don't live in that area, I haven't investigated if it's true, but the ad showed up on my TV twice this morning.
'Tis the season.

1. Not all Pubs - - just the election deniers.

I'd be really interested in the campaign for school board in the Carmel district. Isn't that where the outside money is flowing into from Purple Parents?

Are those candidates identifying with a political party? Are they running TV ads or buying billboards? Are they using extremist arguments?

In Maryland the Dem candidate is smoking Trump lackey Cox so bad he's making a play for Republican cross- overs. Cox is his own negative advertising. Mask mandates and cutting taxes are GOP themes here (immediate disqualifiers for me). Ds are hitting abortion rights and environment. The latter also appears to be picked up by some Rs, which is interesting.

I live in Ohio, so I am getting the Tim Ryan / JD Vance ads constantly (including in my feed to the left right now =====>). One of the lessons that Democrats have not learned yet that Trump discovered early is that they flood the internet message boards and local youtube ad-spaces with their ads. They are cheap and effective. I can almost guarantee that part of Trump's success was getting their ads into the eyes 20 to 30 years-olds demographic who don't really care much one way or the other and are just voting out of duty. Just getting 1 in 20 of them can be the difference.

Anyway, I know it is sometimes uninformed and petty, but nothing turns me off to a candidate more than running nothing but attack ads. I have yet to see a JD Vance ad where he remotely says anything about what his platform is or what he wants to do as a senator. It is nothing but "Tim Ryan voted with Biden 100% of the time" or "Tim Ryan voted to give X million dollars to the Boston Marathon bomber!" (The last one is indeed, a direct quote, and also a lie, a potential entry into the recent thread below about "how can politicians get away with lying").

I tend to vote Republican local and Democratic on the national level, and state tends to run 50/50 for me (For example, I will be voting for DeWine). I suspect Vance will win by about 2 or 3 points, but in the off chance he loses, I'll put 50 bucks on the table right now that he goes down the voter fraud path.

I do know that “Free to Learn” Coalition, a national group, has posted a website that is meant to resemble an official candidate site, and describes each candidate, including if they are a “registered” R or D. The problem is that in Indiana, you don’t have to register with a party, and a few of the candidates have pointed out the fallacy.
The group has done the same thing with regards to Fishers, HSE, and Center Grove.

That “danger to democracy” political talking point foisted upon us by the Democrats and their media sycophants is the biggest load of bullshit we’ve had in decades, maybe forever. Yes, our democracy is under stress, but that is mostly attributed to 1,000+ page cram-down legislative process and our increasingly acerbic campaigns.

Sure but when the Jan 6 MAGA clown show hands the Dems a 2 X 4...they gonna beat you with it.

About all I hear is Todd Young was in the Marines. My local congressional district isn’t competitive for democratic candidates.

It will be interesting to see if Jennifer Ruth Green can break the Dem. Stranglehold on Indiana’s 1st congressional district. She comes across well in interviews. She is a pilot instructor and holds a commercial pilots license.

Her incumbent opponent has the look of the Dem. Political Machine, but deserves credit for serving as an elected township official (north township, Lake county) and in the state legislature before joining congress.

I didn’t find any hard polling numbers. “Over several months leading into July, Sabato's Crystal Ball and The Cook Political Repot had both changed their ratings for the district from likely Democratic to lean Democratic and finally to a toss up.” https://www.indystar.com/story/news...ndiana-1st-district-is-a-toss-up/69541796007/

“If elected, Green would fill a seat held by Democrats for more than 90 years. Republicans, who already control seven of nine congressional districts in the state, hope redrawn district boundaries and angst over inflation and the economy fuel a historic win.” — Indianapolis Star

”Ms. Green, meanwhile, offers a compelling biography that includes 20-plus years of Air Force service. She’s still active in the Indiana Air National Guard.” — https://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Polit...er-Ruth-Green-closes-in-on-Indiana-House-seat
