So...Harris/Walz tonight

What happens if she does a good job, and is impressive tonight?

It seems like everyone is expecting her to struggle. I'm sure the immediate questions will be that she won't have been alone. And that's valid to an extent.

I actually was pretty impressed with her interview immediately after the Trump/Biden debate. Whoever the CNN interviewer was, can't remember, actually was fairly tough on her trying to get her to acknowledge Biden's crap performance. She handled that interview, that could not have been comfortable, and obviously could not have been prepared for...very well.

We'll see I guess. But I wouldn't surprised if she comes away more impressive than not. And if so, it'll be interesting to see what that does to the Trump campaign, how they handle the debates, etc...

I'm talking composure, ability to articulate positions, etc... Obviously the content isn't going to resonate with a lot of people. Me included, for the most part.

Thanks, GOP & NRA! 384 Mass Shooting in 2024 (UPDATED 09/4/24)

As we await the details of the horrific event at MSU, I was saddened, but not shocked, to learn that in just 45 days of this new year, this is the 67th mass shooting in our country. The majority of Americans want reasonable gun regulation, but nothing is done because of the power and the money of the NRA, and how it pulls the strings of the GOP.

The recent bipartisan legislation is a start, but we need to stand up to the fearmongering that the government is coming to take away guns. There many measures that could be passed that would dramatically lessen this epidemic:

- banning many assault weapons. People do not need weapons that fire these many rounds that quickly in order to protect themselves, hunt for need/pleaseure, etc.

- better regulate over where and who can see arms

- permits and training requirements for gun owners. My friends in law enforcement agree that if we can mandate having to qualify for a driver's license, there is nothin wrong with doing the same for gun ownership. Why are people afraid of mandating better informed, qualified and capable gun users?

It is a disgrace that the NRA and GOP allows these events to continue.

Some of you are voting for this guy....

I have been banned from that thread bc I hate circle so thought I’d respond here. @Grateful Redbeard just attacked our pastor and in so doing noted what walz signed.

"The Minnesota law allows courts to have “temporary emergency jurisdiction” during custody disputes crossing state lines if a child has been unable to obtain gender-affirming care. Kat Rohn, executive director of OutFront, an LGBTQ+ advocacy organization in St. Paul, Minn., said the law gives courts the ability to resolve conflicts when parents disagree on whether their child should receive gender-affirming care; it does not remove custody from parents who decline such care.

@CO. Hoosier @BradStevens @TheOriginalHappyGoat leaving aside that this is bat shit crazy from walz who more and more seems like a batshit crazy woke lunatic this is our prior discussion re family court orders. By my own admission I don’t remember anything about conflicts, choice of law, standing etc. but I don’t understand how this can fly.

I’m in fla. Ex is in Georgia. I file in fla. My ex wants my 12 year old minion to get hormone blockers. They zip off to minny and now I’m subject to the vagaries of a local minny judge and his inculcated community stds? Our fla Ct is somehow divested of jurisdiction? What if I get a protective order in fla circuit court. What if my judge who presided over the case in fla circuit ct denies mom’s request. what if he denies her request and it's therefore not included in the final judgment. and there is a final judgment. mn ct can still hear it? bizarre shit.

What am I missing. There’s something I forgot or don’t understand

The Good, The Bad, and The ....

The Good:

We won in spite of errors that probably would have caused us to lose games in the past...

The D looked good to great at times (but my judgment is being withheld overall until after we play a couple of Big Ten games)...

Cignetti was clearly ticked off by the subpar aspects of the game and will have plenty of coaching points to hit on (with sincerity)over the next two weeks...

The next game (Western Ill) is the perfect opponent to simply focus on pure fundamentals against...

UCLA (game 3 @ The Rose Bowl) looks beatable (and probably would have lost against Hawaii if their QB hadn't been injured)...

The Bad:

Fill in the blank ___________
&
If we play the way we did yesterday we'll lose most, if not all, of our Big Ten games...

The Really Ugly:

Our receivers can't drop that many balls and expect us to be able to win against any Big Ten team...

Our backup C needs to learn how to snap the ball under pressure...

Our OL needs to cut their penalties by two thirds and while they're at it learn how to pass block or we're in for a long, ugly, disappointing Big Ten schedule...

The Good News is:
///We have two weeks of practices and what amounts to a scrimmage next Friday before we head to Cali... Let's hope our guys can get their sh-t together by then...///

My takeaways from the game. Thoughts?

Good:
Defensive Line
Running Backs
Slot Receivers, specifically.

The Meh:
Kurtis Rourke in general
The Secondary (Really thought FIU's ineffectiveness was mostly their own doing.)

The Bad:
Kurtis Rourke on passes of more than intermediate depth
Penalties, especially since most of them were discipline related.
Offensive Line.

Afghanistan - what a mess by Biden and Trump...

I have no idea if Trump's exit plan would have better but I am pretty sure it could not have been worse than the mess Biden has us in. But Trump put him in this position, so he bears blame as well.

I am no expert AT ALL in Afghan foreign policy but giving back the country to the Taliban cannot be a good thing.

Good opinion article here.

Interesting Story/ Maduro/Venezuela..

All Venezuelan domains (.ve) are registered through the National Telecommunications Commission of Venezuela - a state-run censorship operation which provides IP details of anonymous critics of Maduro.

Earlier today, some entity took NTCV offline, including their domain maintenance portal for all .ve (government) websites.

All government emails and MX registrations connected to a .ve domain and all associated DNS records have been wiped.

Credential hashes, such as passwords have been wiped for every single .ve account holder.

Literally 0 chance of recovering the .ve portfolio.

Everything they had, public and private is no longer available to anyone. The Commission's own website, which controlled the keys for every .ve account, including their own, is gone.

Another retailer leaving SF

That makes 18 mostly due to crime. Cue Ghost town by the Specials. We were just talking about San Fran the other night. Probably the most beautiful city on the west coast and now nobody wants to go anymore. Sad.

Nordstrom is closing both of its stores in downtown San Francisco, citing the changing “dynamics” of the area that hasn’t recovered since the pandemic and has been in the spotlight for crime.

BTW I noticed the monument in the Union square pic in the article and did a double take. I think thats the same statue of Victory thats on the Indianapolis circle monument.
