Hoosier Hysteria Clips...

I watched it again... Just a scrimmage, need to remind myself of that... But man, that sure looked to be the same offense we've ran 80% of the time since Woody arrived. If that continues once the real games start, and we continue to be mediocre offensively...well, I'll either need to take a break from posting here...or more likely, I'll be very active puking out negative thoughts on Woody and his stubbornness.

It doesn't take long to implement a new offense...it isn't all that "hard"...and the evidence is now overwhelming that what he's been teaching at IU 1)doesn't lead to efficient offenses 2)Alienates most elite level perimeter recruits.

But, backing up...it was just a scrimmage. There were some positive elements, for sure. IU can be "solid", just like we were TJD's senior year, running this style. We just won't be consistently efficient enough to be elite.

It's not out of reach for a Republican that runs like an actual Republican. The MAGA Republican party isn't sustainable.
Pre-dates Trump dog. GWB won a popular vote squeaker in ‘04. Before that you have to go back to ‘88 to find a healthy popular vote winner for Republicans. After ‘88 the effect of Reagan’s ‘86 amnesty really started to take hold. Then Clinton/ Bush chipped in and Obama chipped in with the dreamers.

They are stealing the country right out from under you and you are cluesless and careless to it.

Harris vs. Trump 2024

I feel ya, BCC. It's depressing -- because I know for a fact that this country has gobs of really smart and talented leaders.

Anyway, I'm voting for a guy who isn't eligible, who barely speaks English, who is a little wacky himself, and who has a hairstyle that is oddly reminiscent of Wolverine. He won't win and he couldn't serve if he did. But I'm completely at peace with it. I've found it liberating to not feel compelled to carry the water for Donald Trump just because I'm a Republican and he's....well....taken ownership of the Republican Party.

Harris vs. Trump 2024

Perhaps it is hopium.

This is purely anecdotal, but my 3 kids are all in the 25-30 age group. They have always been fairly politically active, and like their Mom, left-leaning. They all claim that their classmates are unusually politically engaged. One is in a red state (FL), one a deep blue state (Hawaii), and the third in a battleground state (Pennsylvania).

Lmao. I would run you into the ground. There’s not a chance in hell you have a higher iq. You have a tunnel vision mind. As I said. What’s more you lack the intelligence to understand humor etc. to recognize you’re emotional - all the signs of being of limited frequency you demonstrate. I’m sure you were a solid automaton
There you go getting all hissy. :)

Harris vs. Trump 2024

Whereas most polls in the past have indeed underestimated Trump's support, this factor may be doing the opposite, as the under-30 demographic is strongly anti-Trump

Maybe. But that might also be "hopium" -- and it can be tough to tell the difference.

To buttress your point, though, there have been some political analysts who think that Florida will be more competitive this year than it was in recent elections...specifically because abortion and pot measures are on the ballot. They could be right -- and, if they are, that should provide a boost for Democratic candidates.

However, FL isn't likely to be a decisive state. It looks like a lot of the focus is being put on PA -- certainly from Trump's camp, if not both of them. Their strategy seems to be to focusing on one of the 3 Blue Wall states and just hammering the hell out of it...letting the other two fall where they may.

Cue the principal from Billy Madison saying everything you just wrote was awful and we're dumber for reading it.

I shouldn't even respond, but I'm bored...

We have as much depth at center as Purdue does. We have TWO All Big Ten level bigs, for one, that won't always play at the same time. If they each were to average, say 28 minutes a game, and play 18 of those minutes together. The 40 or so minutes of playing time for the center position would get 28 minutes of Ballo, and 10 minutes of Reneau. Hatton can cover the 2 extra minutes. Or we can play smaller with guys like Tucker, Goode, and Mgbako. We're fine.

Mgbako is a better outside shooter than anyone on Purdue's roster. So there's that. Galloway shot nearly 50% from three the last time he played a whole season off the ball. He'll be fine. Both Rice and Carlyle had a pretty decent catch and shoot percentage. They'll be fine. Cupps was a near 40% 3P guy on catch and shoot. Goode is a proven shooter. Reneau even showed he could knock down outside shots as the year wore on last year. I'm not saying we're going to become the Golden State Warriors. But our perimeter shooting shouldn't be nearly as big of an achilles heel as it was last year.

I would say the only designated "shooter" we have, that will play much at all, is Goode. And he isn't bad defensively, at all. Comparatively to your designated shooter, Loyer, he's like a mix between Gary Payton and Dennis Rodman, defensively.

Rice won Pac12 Freshman of the Year, and took Wazzu to the NCAA tournament. He's a VERY good point guard and leader.

Woody...he was 3-1 against Purdouche when he had rosters similar to this years with more balance inside and out.

Non Conference is fine. Atlantis will be a great prep for NCAA's. Louisville, then potentially Gonzaga and Arizona. South Carolina was an NCAA tournament team last year, that's a solid game. Only thing lacking is a tough true road game. But its not uncommon for good teams to not have that before conference season.

In short...refer to my first sentence. We're all dumber for reading your posts.

Mgbako is a better outside shooter than anyone on Purdue roster.... That's a interesting observation care to elaborate more? Mgbako is a talented player and should improve. Not asking much to to get better than 32% he shot last year from 3 don't you think? Purdue's guards(including Colvin) all shot over 40% from 3 point line last year.

Careful what you write Billy Madison

Memorial Stadium

I will share my experience. I knew it was going to be this way, so I did indeed prepare for it. And overall, I had no problems with it.

-Got to tailgate at 7:30
-cooked brunch for the crew on my small charcoal grill
-headed towards the stadium at just before 11:30
-took a bit to get in, but I chose one of the better lines.....was in my seat with about 15 minutes to go on the clock
-my son chose to wait in line for beers (better him than me) but he made it to our seats with probably 5 min to go
-I got a pass out at half time, high tailed it to my car in the grass lot reserved for a couple of quick beers and high tailed it back. Got back in my seat with 14:56 on the clock. Missed the kickoff, that went into the end zone (so didn't miss anything, I've seen kicks before)
-stayed for about 5-10 minutes after 0:00 left the clock, cheering the team until they were off the field (mostly)
-knew it would be impossible to get out and on my way back to Indy. So, fired up the charcoals and cooked burgers, brats and dogs for the crew, while watching the 3:30 game on our tv
-packed up and headed home at about 530

I have no issue at all with how they handled the sell out crowd. Sure, hopefully they can make some adjustments, but I enjoyed the experience immensely.
Perfect day!

Hoosier Hysteria Clips...

Just re watched the scrimmage. I am not going to jump to any conclusions over a 12 minute intra squad scrimmage.
There were some things I liked and some things that did not reach my expectation level.
My two favorite guys on the court were Ballo and Hatton.
The game vs UTenn will be very telling.
I really liked how quickly Ballo was able to catch at the 3 line, assess the defense, then make a quick adjustment to get himself a better shot and sink a nice 14 foot floater. Definitely looks like a guy who knows how to get the shots he's comfortable with, and for me, that is a huge part of what individual offense should look like. As opposed to settling for bad shots.

Hatton is kind of the guy we should expect. A real basketball player who is used to production, but doesn't have the athleticism or speed. But he plays hard and moves well without the ball. I think he will likely get a few minutes in the Michael Durr role.

I'm hoping Tucker is like a better bigger version of Bates- perhaps he scores in transition but mostly uses his length to shut down wing scorers. Defense, steals and transition buckets is all they need from him this year.

Carlile- Deifintely one of the guys who will need to figure out his role. I'm even more convinced now that he will come off the bench if Trey is healthy. But IU will need points from him. He has the talent to be a solid scorer. Just hope that happens this year.

I'm not so sure Goode shouldn't be considered for a starting role. It looks to me like (surprise) having a real shooter on the court opens up the offense more.

They may be better with Mgbako or Reneau and Goode, using Ballo in the middle. Trey and Rice up top.

Big Nebraska Fan

We should all be big Nebraska fans going forward. The national perspective of this IU team has started to shift but if they were to win on Saturday vs. Ohio State, I would venture to guess it would be jarring for most across the country. I know that isn't very likely, but I will have my 'Go Big Red' hat on no matter the case.

I think the largest reason the nation is having a hard time coming to grips with this is because it's not really been done to this level before. Yes, coaches have come in and turned teams around. Bad teams have also gone from awful to good in a year. You don't take an awful team last year at a program with the most losses in CFB history and turn them in a genuine title contender of the superpower two conferences, in year one. The only way it happens is because of the current open portal situation that didn't exist until more recently. I expect we may see things like this happen to other programs periodically in the future but it sure is fun (possibly) watching this team be the first one.

It's been a wild ride so far. In Tayven We Trust.
The results speak for themselves: other teams can either recognize it or not. It behoves them to recognize IU's results, so I hope they don't. Either way, they are going to have to score 50 or even 60 to beat us: good luck.

Some sense of national unity matters a lot. We’re not going to get that with another Trump squeaker and his animosity toward at least half of Americans. He’s never pretended to be America’s President, he’s about himself and those that hang on for the ride. That’s all.
This isn’t 1984 Grandpa. Democrats (and Reagan) have all but put the popular vote out of reach for Republicans in national elections through their malignant immigration and amnesty policies.
