Dear Mr Dolson, you already hired a gun slingin’ sh!t talkin’ gangster …

So nothing has changed? Sounded as if something had.
It's the bite marks that have me scratching my head about the "official" story. Can't always judge events by the wrapping that lawyers decide to package it in.

That neat story seems to be good enough for a good number of people, but I'd be surprised if it's good enough for Dolson.

We don’t have a reputation to tarnish either. We used to, but that ship sailed a long time ago…mostly because we were more concerned with protecting our reputation (or what we thought our reputation was) than we were with winning.

Kentucky hired Calipari. Did he have skeletons in his closet when they did? Did doing so tarnish their reputation?
In fairness, when Calipari was hired, they were what, ten years removed from their "death penalty"? In their case, it just kind.of reenforced their reputation.

I hope NIL payments are not multi-season

Not exactly sure how NIL works, but hope the payouts are for one season and then it’s up to the school to set an amount for the next season (which could be accepted, declined or negotiated by the player and/or his agent). Assuming this is the case, and the total IU NIL stash for next season remains the same, as the new coach I would do the following:
* Cupps, Newton, Carlyle - zero NIL
* Rice - 50% reduction
* MM, MR - 25% reduction
* Tucker - no reduction

This might push some guys to leave, but so be it. Rice, MM, MR have had plenty of opportunity to show their program value.

If the program culture is more toxic than we know, it might be best to do a total flush and let all these guys walk.

Looking forward to IU basketball in 2025/2026 !

Drake Coach Ben McCollum Reads Like A CCC Resume

Maybe it’s not going to be easy for any candidate to hold up in the IU cooker. It shouldn’t matter which school they coach for. There is going to be pressure. Crean was the closest one to handle it since Bobby got fired, but had one bad tournament game and many thought he had to go. Glad he did, because IU has been winning more since he left..NOT.
Easy to say in hindsight, but obviously Crean didn't get let go for "one bad tournament game". I like Ryan from Assembly Call guy's theory: when you've absolutely determined a coach is not going to be able to accomplish what you want for the program: move on immediately, and don't waste more time with him, and delay where you want to get to. Had we done that, we might have had Stevens or May as our coach. Would you feel better about that, or where we'd be right now had we kept Crean with his recruiting drying up, coaching and AAU contacts turned off and his personality having worn on people?

I understand the points being made but isn’t there a balance of power given congressional seats are unbalanced based on population?
It would hurt my "side" but that is the argument I think would be likely to garner grudging logical support from me. Just revisit the 1929 Permanent Apportionment Act. If you wanted equal representation, there are 590,000 people in Wyoming and they get 1 House Rep. There are 334.9 million citizens (roughly) in the US. Increase the house size to 567 and you would have everyone about as close to equally represented as you will get.

I think if you did that you would have to institute some rules addressing gerrymandering to some degree as well.

Wow - how childish you are just because I have different opinion. FWIW - Kelly School of Business - Finance & Accounting

At least group think, conformity, and obedience will be safe

More to the story. The structural elements weren’t traditional I-beams but beams with tubular flanges and a corrugated web. Calculations were difficult and there were questions whether the formula even worked at the size we wanted. We didn’t have a catastrophic collapse, but here is a hanger that

dulles-jet-center_32867.gif
Interesting--those are joist girders in the photo--I have seen engineers use the tubular flanges (which extend to either side of the joist girder and are typically wider), and they are sometimes filled with concrete to provide extra strength. The fabricator is the one that ultimately designs the joist girder sytem and webbing--they typically do all the calcs and then send in the calculations for review by the Engineer of Record. THank goodness there was no collapse.

And that's enough nerd talk todoay from me.

Top federal prosecutor and several assistants for the SDNY quit after Trump’s DOJ orders them to drop Eric Adam’s case

oh my.

Calling out the DOJ for its considerable incompetence, for its ideological removal of lady justice’s blindfold, for its elevating vindictiveness to the level of due process, for its abuse of prosecutorial discretion, for abuse of process, for its excessiveness, for its ethical violations, and for its violations of law is now defending Trump?

We deserve a DOJ that should be the world’s best and a the highest gold standard. We didn’t get it.
Thought experiment and a simple yes or no on the following questions:

Is holding the Adams prosecution over his head to ensure immigration compliance ethical?

Does it constitute removing lady justices blindfold for ideological reasons?

Is it an abuse of process?

I am not a lawyer, I don't usually delve too deep into the law threads because what I have to offer is trumped by half of the people's expertise here. I also know that lawyers can and will argue both sides and that there is almost always an explanation provided with the answer. All that being said, I think from a layman's view that I can answer yes to at least some of those questions above. If you can too, shouldn't we be holding our people's feet to the fire to make sure that they don't act like the administration we just got rid of?

They aren’t just lines on a map though.

That was (and remains) the whole idea. Each of the several states is a sub-sovereign. The very structure of the country as a federal republic was predicated upon this notion.
Exactly..... if the federal government would keep their hands out out every thing in our lives then I could go along more with states are just lines on the map but since they don't then status quo is good. Sure we need a strong federal government for some things.... defense, FDA, etc but they don't need to have their hands in everything.

Because that's what most normal Americans think. Why would IU do that? Just b/c Beard is a decent coach who worked for Knight?

Had he not worked for Knight, would you still want him?
Alf, first off, my question wasn’t directed to you. I just wanted to know where Baller heard that “Dolson wasn’t going to put IU in that position”. I’m good with inside information if it’s legit. Secondly, now that you’re in the mix, I’m trying to decipher what you mean by “most normal Americans”?
This post started by saying just hire Beard.
Obviously Dolson isn’t going to hire him or any other candidate without interviews. Im guessing most mean that he should be a candidate (and not just because he worked with RMK). The guy is definitely one of the top 10 coaches in the country, but is also one of the few coaches that would definitely say yes to IU if offered(based on past comments by him). If he is interviewed
(and he should be), and Dolson/Whitten feel he is the best candidate to get IU back to the desired culture, the that is who we should support…even your so-called normal Americans. Chill out dude. It will all work out. And by the way, who do you like?
None of our opinions will matter anyway. We just have to trust those opinions that do. That’s what they get paid for.

Dear Mr Dolson, you already hired a gun slingin’ sh!t talkin’ gangster …

Who did you hear from that said “Dolson isn’t gonna risk putting the university in that situation”?
