Rather than wait until classes start in August, here's next Season's projected IU Men's Basketball roster. Player's names are hot-links to their official IU Athletics profile pages except for incoming freshmen who apparently won't be officially/publicly recognized as part of the Team until the fall semester begins (despite being on Campus and working their asses off all summer). Or something like that. As such, freshmen names link to their Rivals profiles. (Entered Race in as a redshirt, not sure if that's right, but the official IU Athletics page (and my starting point) hasn't been updated since ??? so that and other things (e.g., heights and weights) may need correction.

# Player Hgt. Wt. Position/Yr. Hometown

1 Aljami Durham 6-4 175 G - So. Lilburn, GA

3 Justin Smith 6-7 220 F - So. Buffalo Grove, Ill.

5 Quentin Taylor 6-2 187 G - Sr. Indianapolis, IN

10 Johnny Jager 6-0 185 G - R/Jr. Bloomington, IN

11 Devonte Green 6-3 186 G - Jr. North Babylon, NY

12 Ethan Lasko 6-2 171 G - So. Hollywood, FL

13 Juwan Morgan 6-8 230 F - Sr. Waynesville, MO

15 Zach McRoberts 6-6 205 G - R/Sr. Carmel, IN

20 De'Ron Davis 6-10 249 F - Jr. Park Hill, CO

22 Clifton Moore 6-10 220 F - So. Ambler, PA

24 Vijay Blackmon 6-2 175 G - Jr. Marion, IN

25 Race Thompson 6-8 220 F - R/So. Plymouth, MN

Jake Forrester 6'8" 215 F - Fr. Westtown, PA

Robert Phinisee 6'0" 175 G - Fr. Lafayette, IN

Damezi Anderson 6'7" 205 F - Fr. South Bend, IN

Jerome Hunter 6’7" 185 F - Fr. Pickerington, OH

Romeo Langford 6'5" 185 G - Fr. New Albany, IN

Evan Fitzner 6’10” 230 C - Gr/Sr. San Diego, CA

Race did indeed redshirt last year so he'll be a sophomore academically but a freshman as far as eligibility is concerned

7 new guys including Race. Nice

You're right. With six new guys (Race has been at IU a year) imagine the possibility of some festive orientation - like three-man 21 with each of the new arrivals paired with two 'veterans'. It's a great game in itself, but would be a riot to watch trios composed of Clifton/Derin/Evan, Devonte/Aljami/Romeo, Juwan/Justin/Damezi and such.

Recent feature on VO had him speaking about his first scrimmage as a Hoosier and Verdell Jones just having his way against him on both ends. Who'd have thought?

9 guys 6'7" or more. That looks a whole lot more like a B1G roster than last year's collection. Not to mention a pretty good 6'6" guy with a 6'11" wingspan.

You could have just went here.

The only negative is that the offers and commits don't always have their ranking updated and correct. The players on roster though, do.

Seems strange to see a kid from Lafayette committed to IU. Wonder if that has ever occurred before? I like Phinisee a lot.

Yes, it has happened before. I forget if they said '52 or '32. Either way, it isn't common.

Morgan clearly taking his time on his decision to stay or go. This could be another long wait and see. Hoping the best for JM, but really hoping he comes back for a big season at IU.

Not getting an invite to the combine would seem like a clear indicator you need another year in college to develop your game. But with the other options available overseas, who knows.

Overseas worked with Mudiay and Jennings, as far as getting drafted in the first round, but they did not play in college. Not sure it works as well if you've played 3 years in college and people have a feel for what you can and can't do.

A lot of folks have been pushing for another guard in '19 with the likelihood of RL 1 and done, and I think that we probably should sign one, but it also occurred to me that he may feel he has his replacement at the 2 on the roster in Anderson and Hunter, especially if he wants to play bigger on the wing. I still think a PG or combo makes sense as it's DGs senior year.
