Hope so, but 2 things: 1) didn't TrillyD post about a mass exodus?He seems more reliable than the average internet guru. 2) I'm guessing the news the CMW is staying will hurt NIL donations overall. So, yes, we should have more to spread around if KW leaves as expected and XJ is gone, but I also bet we'll have fewer NIL dollars than last year to spread around.
Credit to the team for the win and let's keep winning but if you think we were beating anyone outside a Net 76 team with that play, you're kidding yourself. Any other competent team and we would have been down double digits at that time. Doesn't take away from this being a cave-in decision to keep CMW.
Minny and IU are the only B1G teams with no top 25 wins. I'll tune back in at this time next year.
I thought NIL would go down too, but it sounds like Cook is still on board, and he’s our top NIL donor. So it seems like less of a fall off is possible.

Yes, and normally this is why University boards defer to the AD on these athletics personnel decisions. We have the (mis)fortune of having a former IU BB player (an all-time great at that) and NBA coach on our board. So it's probably pretty easy for him to steer the other members who don't know anything about basketball.

Leal was nowhere near as strong as a freshman as Cupps is (even if Cupps himself needs to get stronger) and Leal did't play nearly the minutes Cupps is playing. Cupps will improve, probably quite a lot, by the time he is a senior.
To answer directly he averaged 1.6 ppg and 1 apg so ballpark Cupps but far less minutes.
Just for the heck of it I looked at X as a freshman at Pitt and he was at 19.9 ppg and 5.8 apg.
Cupps is a good kid and could stay as a backup. But I would think that most objective fans could see his limitations. His shooting is not even my main concern. His inability to push the pace, see the court, penetrate, and be a dynamic table setter are my concerns. Much of that is innate and can only be coached up to a certain extent. Maybe in the pre-portal days before this year to year free agent market, you would hope he could somehow become your starting pg. But in the portal age, you have to aggressively recruit above him and find your playmaking pg in the portal for next year. If you want to make a splash in the tournament, you need big time guards.
Coach Cig is in fact an established college coach, I’m guessing there is a real chance IU becomes a football school now. Maybe Nebraska becomes hoops and IU becomes football since we have rubber stamped 13 loss seasons as the meh expectation.
In year 3 we're on the NIT bubble . And the guy gets another year. Let that sink in.

Word on another IU board is that the Simon’s were pretty instrumental in wanting Woodson to return and have agreed to pony up more $$$ for NIL. Even with all that, adding likely 6-7 guys in the portal, and getting them all to fit, is a monumental task. And if Woodson’s explanation for this year’s struggles included the guys not being familiar with each other….well
He is going to try and buy a team in the portal but that type of thing usually never ends well.
They can give him all the money they want it does not change the way he coaches.

Players have already made up their minds about returning next year and probably about their next destination.
"I'm not going anywhere any time soon, guys. I'm just not". This kind of hutzpah is quite telling if you stop and think about it. Pearl has a "lifetime contract" at Auburn...according to their AD. Thats the kind of scenario where this type of statement makes sense. But at IU right now? Really?
For Woodson to feel completely at home making a statement like this with no reservations is quite revealing about the leadership at IU too. No humility.....no conscientious respect for fans or employers. There is an entitlement in his comments. Wanna see "toxic"? That's toxic.
