Woodson: "That's on me..." is getting old!

I watched a little bit of the UM game after the IU game was over. UM defense forced THREE 10 second violations on their opponent. I hate that I enjoy watching Michigan and UK and PU because of their style and effort and how well drilled they appear. None of us who are watching IU basketball can cite any of those as reasons to watch.
Smh Mich did that against a team who’s average margin of defeat is like 35 and has only won 1 game. We were playing a team who is 2-2 and has been competitive in every game. If Woody had lost to Wake Forests like Mich did, you and about 5 others on this board would be demanding he be fired.

Nah. May gets some grace in year one like any other first year coach. Woody has used his up, but he got his share

The opponent's record has little to do with how much effort it takes to force theee 10 second violations. The point of my comment was to highlight the contrast among some team's styles and effort levels. IU's are inconsistent at best.

As is Michigan’s. I have seen 3 of their games. I choose to support our coach and the we are a better team this year.

But did you read the part about 10 sec violations.. which Dusty forced on the other team like they were card board cut outs that had no will to make mistakes on their own.

fwiw - Michigan's defensive efficiency is currently 0.2 PP100 better than ours. Must be those 10 sec violations. lol ..

We've all seen the sample size by now.
Woodson isn't the answer. He's not even a bridge..
He has gained zero moteum in the program....
But as long as Buckner backs him ..
It's grandpa..We have...
Zero momentum? I mean the 4 years before Woodson we made 0 or 1 tournament depending on how the canceled tournament would have shaken out and likely in 4 years if Woodson we will have made 3 of 4. Certainly not the end results any of us desire unless we make a run this year but it is some momentum.

At Indiana..
Bare minimum every yr should be sweet sixteen..
I'd say no momentum...I'm a fire Woodson tomorrow guy ..And admit it..

That’s a different point. Get to sweet sixteen every year vs momentum. And btw you would have fired Bobby Knight too if sweet sixteen is the minimum acceptable outcome.

And I am a give Woody a lifetime contract guy and admit it.

RMK was in the FF in his 2nd year here. Another E8 in his 4th. Undefeated NATIONAL CHAMPION in his 5th.

Woodson's high water mark is getting massacred in the 2nd round of the NCAAT and then missing the NCAAT and NIT all together last year.

Incredible comparison. Good job.

I didn’t compare them. Perhaps read what I wrote again. He said that Indiana should be sweet 16 at a minimum every year. I said if that is his standard he would have fired Knight. I believe Knight is the greatest basketball coach of all time but he was not in the sweet 16 every year.

Knight earned leeway. Woodson has accomplished nothing

Playing a season with a team that lacks talent is only tolerable if the team plays with max effort. I struggle to root for this team when I see lazy play. Indiana basketball fans demand effort. Sure, we love to win, but if you watch the crowd's responses, they are never as loud as when they watch a good defensive stop. Effort wins the hearts and minds of fans who have to watch a team lose a game.

I'm almost done listening to Woody say, "That's on me" when the team fails to deliver. If he expects to hold players accountable for their lack of effort, then the AD needs to hold him accountable for errors he admits are his fault.
He may have picked up the-it’s on me-from studying Archie tape. Press conferences are important to Woodson-he learned that in his many losing NBA seasons. Better Archie press conference tape than game tape.

Louisville should be an easy win. Their shooting efficiency is poor.

Once again, feel the need to correct you: D is pretty good in the NBA right now. If you want to say "play like 90's era NBA" I can buy that. Pro ball is really good right now. Like watching the difference between the NFL and college football and no one thinks guys in the NFL are taking plays off. When the salaries escalated NBA players started taking things really seriously and they work at both ends now. Hate to say it, but overall, it's way better ball.
Did you just say that defense in the NBA is better now, than it was in the 90's?

"His many losing NBA seasons"...lol...this board is hilarious.

It absolutely is. Less physical, but the games I watch they play hard, move their feet and defend hard, especially on the perimeter because so many good 3 pt shooters. The 90s was certainly more physical in the paint, but now you'd get fined and tossed, maybe suspended so they don't bludgeon people in the paint like they did then. Have you watched NBA games recently?

I am too-a lifetime contract with UK. A gift for Runnin Richie and his minions.

For full season he had five losing NBA seasons and three winning seasons and overall more lost games than won games. 365 times he had a press conference after a loss.
Yes..you can conform whatever narrative you want to, by using specific stats. But giving the whole story, hurts your narrative. I suspect that's why you left out specific facts. So...for the record....

Woodson took over in Atlanta in 2004. They won 13 games that year. That total doubled in 2005. They then won more games every year, culminating at 53 in 2010.

That tells a whole different story doesn't it? Shows a coach who took over a shit team, and built it back to a contender, while never suffering a setback.

In New York...he took over a sub .500 team with a month left in the season, and got them to the playoffs, and then won 54 games the next season. More than any other Knicks team in 20 years.

See the difference?

Sorry but the stats I gave were just the stats. He had experience with a press conference 365 times after a loss and only 315 times after a win. His playoff record was 18-28 and never out of the second round. Sound familiar?
