That being 10-0 would piss off so many people?
This whole thing is just bizarre,I bet they spent 30 minutes of a 60 minute show talking about IU.
It’s like the old saying, there is no such thing as bad publicity or something like that.
It’s really opened my eyes to just how freaking bat sh** crazy the SEC fanbases are when it comes to football, they are not rational people.
I can’t imagine how pissed off they will all be if we beat Ohio Stste but I’d sure like to find out.

We're a cute story until we take someone's spot in the playoffs.

There's lots of opposing fanbases that can't handle a championship caliber Indiana football team. Hell, there's plenty of Indiana basketball fans that are absolutely threatened by the tidal wave of success Cignetti is building. Football is king and huge success is threatening.

Just curious to know who are these people that are threatened by our football team's success?

Well, at least on many football forums, or Reddit, at least half the fans are saying "I'm rooting for you Indiana, keep it going!" or "You guys are the best story in college football!" or similar. I see a ton of support for IU out there. See far more people wanting to see Ohio State get beat than us.

Maybe a quarter are the vocal dissenters. Because either they seem to be upset their own two or three loss 'power' schools may not get in the playoff, or their former glory hasn't been all that great so far in the NIL era.

In the media, come on, there's financial axes to grind... Of course it'll happen. Scott may have to learn to buy 'influencers' just like the SEC does.

True but my post was about the SEC fanbases I’m pretty sure none of them outside of maybe Vandy ‘are rooting for us’

There's always been tons of people opposed to Indiana having a championship caliber football program. Michigan and Ohio State come to mind and lots of basketball people never supported football one bit...

You would be naive to think anything else.

It's the SEC media way more than their fanbases. I live in SEC country and that's the truth. Many here in Kentucky are rooting for Indiana, at least people I casually talk to.

You wouldn't think two loss SEC teams would generate so much anger either, but I know how I feel about them. LOL I figure if you've lost twice, you already had your shot at the playoff and lost your games. Now, no problem with putting the highest ranked two loss team from there in. If they're like second or third ranked in the league.

You reference IUBB fans are opposed. I'm not aware of any. I agree that the big powers would rather have an easy win vs. us. IU never had the financial resources to do what is needed to be a championship caliber program. They do now with the large media contract. The results are impeccable.

I occasionally peruse a college football reddit thread and you'd actually be surprised.... Most are all aboard the Cig train. Love every word that comes out of his mouth, and that he is a "disrupter" who has backed it up. Sure, there will always be the sanctimonious twats out there, but those that understand this is an entertainment business are thouroughly entertained by the IUFB story this year.

I think it'd be different if we had a coach that was somewhat of a known commodity that had been part of failures at various programs. But the fact that Cig came out of nowhere with none of that baggage... he's a man of the people.

Go to X and read the replies to any post that deals with IU football. Those replies will be 99% SEC fans. If they had their way they would have 8-10 teams in the playoffs and all other ranked teams outside the SEC are dog shit and/or dont play a tough schedule like SEC teams do. They don't recognize last week's Bama vs Mercer game. 😂

The people I reference in the original post are IUBB fans. I don't know any of those that are threatened by IUFB's success. Re. SEC fans, I agree to that.

No IU basketball fans that I know (and I know a LOT of them) are threatened by our football success. All are absolutely THRILLED to finally have the football program showing signs of joining the big time.
As a LONGSTANDING supporter of BOTH IU football and basketball I find your disdain for the basketball program to be curious and off-putting. Your posts in support of the football program are awesome and I find myself agreeing with most of what you say - just wish that you would consider refraining from squeezing in shots at the basketball program.

Yip ..I see the old gaurd of IU basketball threatened by the success of football..
But I personally love it !
And I've been around since Knights fourth yr..
Woodson should feel the success of the football team..
Dolson needs a home run hire in basketball too.

SEC=ESPN. ESPN is fighting to keep control of college football. They feel threatened by an 18 team B1G owned by FOX. Fans don't matter except for $$ they spend. ESPN owned the 4-team deal. Exploited it. They won't own the 12-team deal. Called change and it's about time. Go Hoosiers and in this case go B1G.
