"What I did to Cos in the TX voting bill thread should probably carry a criminal penalty."
As long as you're throwing self accolades around regarding your justification for suppressing the vote in Texas, you might want to help Greg Abbott out. He positively made a flaming wreck out of his answer to Chris Wallace's inquiry as to why he wanted to suppress the vote in Texas...
Is he really trying to say that the US Constitution delineated between states and counties as to election authority? Was there even such a creature as counties in 1788- most historians trace their advent to the years subsequent to 1790, 2 yrs after the Constitution was ratified. Abbott is taking the delineation of powers between the Federal and state govt, and unilaterally trying to claim that it somehow applies to counties within the state.
But there is definitely no mention of "counties" anywhere in AR1 Sec 4...And to bring up the issue of voter id and to talk about how successful it was in Texas? That can't help but beg the question of why do you need to ALTER something that you're touting as a huge success?
And to claim that drive-thru and 24 hr voting should be banned for inane claims like "people in your car" and "no partisan observers" is just mealy-mouth nonsense. If Plenty of other states successfully engage in 24 hr voting, what are the issues particular to Texas that make it susceptible to fraud?
His whole justification is a Hot Mess and just makes him look foolish. I wonder how much his fear of a wingnut Primary challenge plays into his championing of this nonsense? At any rate, he definitely needs help from you or some other halfway intelligent spokesperson...
