Yeah, I know we have the Thompson thread but that’s about health insurance.

Yesterday, my home insurance provider kindly deducted 140 dollars more from my account than what my home insurance is actually supposed to cost monthly.

So I called them up and said what gives?

The guy told me that everyone is repriced once a year. My month to be repriced is December and my coverage went up 140(!!) dollars a month.

I told him that’s insane. I can’t afford that kind of increase.

He said it’s happening to everyone because the price of insurance of any kind is SKYROCKETING right now.

Has this happened to anyone else here? That is INSANE. I cant afford that kind of increase.

Mine went up last year. It was somewhere around a 25-30% increase. That’s what happens when you shut down the world for a bad cold. The only rule in America is protect Boomers at all costs so they can finish bankrupting the nation.

Is this related to the big increase in home values?

Yes. Property insurance rates (home and auto) are up dramatically. It's actually the biggest driver of this months CPI inflation numbers.

My homeowners policy has roughly doubled in the last approx 6 years. And I've shopped it around, it's still the best I can get. Mine just renewed this month and is up about 18% from last year.

I shopped around earlier this year because I thought my OLD rate was to high. I couldn’t find anything that would beat it.

I guess I’m gonna have to do it again and hope for the best.

Do you have a mortgage? Is the house low risk? Could skip insurance an invest what you paid. Roll the dice but some people do it. It’s crazy but there are circumstances….

My in-laws house burned down back in the day and they weren’t insured. They literally lost everything and were reduced to accepting charity.

That will never happen to me.

20-22% yoy depending on who you believe. Auto up big. Car repair costs up 12%.

Sofi stock on the rise. Maybe my investment should be finding companies most likely to thrive in a high delinquency market.

Change provider. Now.

Hire a broker. You don’t pay them anything. Worst thing that can happen is they can’t find you a good deal and you’re still out…nothing.

In Indiana? No.
Hurricanes in Florida raise the price of construction materials (i.e. repair and replacement costs) everywhere. So the cost of repairing/rebuilding your home after a fire, for example, is affected by hurricanes far away.
