What to make of the Durham filing?

This is not an article- it's a clearly labelled opinion piece...

And it's highly unlikely you'll see any more of that tenor from the WSJ, due to developments this week...

Notice how other stories have replaced the claims that the Durham filing somehow indicted HRC? That's what happens when she hints at possible legal action AND in response Durham comes out and distances himself from the claims made by rightwing nuts...

Maybe they're wrong and the story will be all over the GOP media this week. But the threat of a lawsuit has a way of making people re-evaluate (baseless, unfounded) claims they want to throw around...
Smh

No, you're not wrong. There's no evidence it was hacked. But because the Daily Caller and, more importantly, Trump Himself said it was hacked, the cultists are all in.

Hilarious that DANC does his stupid laugh emoji every time he’s completely shown to be wrong….which is about 10 times per thread. The guy is absolutely impervious to facts.

Sad.

I know it hurts all you peeps...hahaha. If u don't think it was rigged for the hill ur crazy. The meltdown from the media, the left, and hill was shock. Total shock. It was rigged then and 2020 again with a backup plan. It doesn't take rocket science to figure it out. You all get over it.
Link up your evidence, please.

What exactly is the problem with Trump questioning the election results? The “gullible idiot” argument doesn’t do it for me. No culture ever prospered on restricting any kind of expression. You remind me of the Democrat argument that Blacks are too dumb to get an ID. You guys always assume those beneath you are idiots. You really don’t hold elite status, or the moral high ground, that you think you do.
What’s wrong is that the votes were counted, certified, and the election wasn’t even close. Trump has no grace or class. He is trying (and succeeding) to undermine the POTUS. That’s dangerous.

They don’t know the difference between fact and opinion. They don’t know a valid source from an illegitimate source. True for way too many in this country, sadly.

I find it hilarious you guys use sources like Catturd but dismiss Wapo. Wonder what it’s like to live in a total bizarro universe like that.
The difference, dear, is that Catturd doesn't claim to be a source for news. It's clearly commentary.

Wapo does claim to report the news, which is a joke.

But I wouldn't expect you to know the difference.

That's 3rd grade stuff, Zeke. I thought you taught high school? You should have a little more sophisticated comeback than "No, YOU are".

What are you shaking your head about? You posted this...

"They are a joke. Here's a good article that sums up what we should all wish for as Durham goes through his investigation. The WSJ takes a very neutral look..."

https://www.wsj.com/articles/durham...teele-mueller-abuse-power-sussman-11645221157

The WSJ makes a clear distinction between NEWS and OPINION, and what you linked is clearly labelled OPINION...

"We draw a clear line between news and opinion. The separation between these two independent departments helps ensure impartiality in our news reporting and freedom of perspective in our opinion pieces."

They even point out how they distinguish the two, which is how I knew immediately that what you posted was Opinion...

"Check section label and headline: Opinion pieces show a gold label and italic headline.
A Latin Leader Copes With Covid-19 WSJ Opinion

Check byline: Opinion bylines include an image of the author and are positioned above the centerpiece photo.
WSJ Opinion Mary Anastasia O'Grady

Check the bottom of the article: Some opinion pieces feature an “About this article” section at the bottom to provide details about the column and author."

If you had characterized your post/link as the opinion of Holman W Jenkins (the author) rather than somehow claiming it was factual reporting from the WSJ on the issue, I'd have let it pass. But the fact that it is clearly labelled as an opinion piece by a single author, illustrates the point I was making, that there is no way the WSJ wants to be associated with the claims made and a possible lawsuit...

Again the point is that after Durham came out and said some people in the media (and on this board, as well) were drawing conclusions from his filing that he never said the wind has come out of the sails of those folks. I posted about the Neustar contract with the Obama Admin dating back to 2014. Hard to (straight facedly) claim that Neustar was hired to spy on Trump, when they were working and monitoring suspicious contacts before Trump even entered politics.

And just on it's face saying something stupid like "the Clinton Campaign spied on President Trump" is ridiculous. The Clinton Campaign ended in Nov 2016 ,and Trump didn't assume the Presidency until Jan 20, 2017...

I of course agree with you. The only minor quibble is that cases should have been brought prior to voting. There was zero chance any judge would disenfranchise voters after the election
You are right of course.

If it quacks like duck.....I thought it was a brilliant scheme. No time to fully investigate anything. Only give them 60+ days to try to figure it out. I hope Conservatives learned a lesson from it.
Better stop a scheme before it gets going. Once it did, it was like a freight train coming straight at the tracks. All you could do is get off the tracks.
It was over on election night. No one would be able marshal enough evidence to overturn anything. Republicans and Trump just got outsmarted. A well coordinated, well executed plan. Hats off the Libs, they may be nuts but, they sure are smart.

Can't believe I'm responding to your rhetoric...You think saying something stupid like "Clinton spied on Trump"?

Barr himself said "spying did occur" in reference to the FBI on Trumps campaign. OR did you forget that?

Gas and groceries - what Americans actually care about
I agree that is what's important. However there are multiple news organizations that thrive on this sort of "ah HA!!" "journalism". They only report these BS, red meat, tribe dividing stories because they get views. And there is no accountability when they are proven to be horseshit.

And both sides of the media spectrum do it. Get their fanbase into a frenzy and then just walk away. The fans think they getting T-bone steaks when in reality they are getting spoon fed horseshit.

There's no accountability outside of loss of credibility. NYT, Washington Post, 60 minutes (an extension of CNN) - there was a time I would have taken what they wrote as beyond reproach. Today I take anything and everything that comes from them with a grain of salt. Fox/Cnn/msnbc and on down the line are completely worthless. You almost have to just go to the primary source and do your best to think/evaluate for yourself

That they wrote that there's a separation between news and opinion means absolutely nothing. ZERO. What news to cover; how to cover it; is all laden with opinion. We've become beholden to these rags and far too lazy to go to the primary sources for information and to use our gut and think for ourselves. How bad crime is; Covid; what it means if a hospital system says it is overwhelmed - all of these things and just about everything we can ascertain from primary sources without the filter of opinions, which is all we get from these rags, whether they couch it as "news" or denote it as "opinion"

I think the best thing to do is wait. It's taken Durham a long time to get here. Barr said there was spying. Durham took this investigation over and it's going to take time. When Watergate occurred the first few indictments were nobody's, but they eventually got to the truth. The problem with Durhams investigation is "the left". If nothing comes of this than unfortunately they have enough people in place that it's over. Look no further than jdb's post about Bill Mahers take on China. It's slowly but surely GOING TO HAPPEN and there is nothing g anyone can do about it.

We went to Sam's Club yesterday. Been a member since the beginning and never quit. 20 years ago there would be maybe a hundred people there on a busy day. Yesterday there had to be 500. This was just while I was there. I started thinking (anyone shopping at Sam's knows its 3-400 easy when you go) let's say 200 a cart very low. How much gross volume did that store alone do yesterday???? It's crazy how crowded and how much money is spent.

Gotta admit Trumps idea trying to keep everything here to Make America great again is too late.

Remember the story in regards to all the trucks sitting because we don't have "chips". The lady in Kokomo that said 8 years ago we made those chips right here in Kokomo.

Yeah I don't care about Durham. Don't care about Jan 6. Don't care about the Big Lie. Don't care about any of that stuff. Never have.

If bailey or some other idiot posted this, I wouldn't give it a second thought. But you're generally reasonable and sometimes insightful. I can't believe you're writing it, particularly after opining not that long ago that Trump should be disqualified from ever holding public office again.

I'm resigned they are all dirty - just in degrees. Getting preoccupied with that stuff is futile. All I care about is the price of Starbucks, whether my car will still be there after a Blues' game, and how much I'm getting taxed. Absent that o like hearing about policy ideas. The slinging and conspiracy Q shit mean nothing to me

Disqualifying Trump is fine with me. I'd disqualify anyone in office for 50 years too

I do, but believe its already too late. Without going into detail we have elected liars and greedy bastards who don't give 2 sh!t's about us. There is a much bigger picture. I know everyone hated Trump but he was the only prick standing in the way. (When you piss off the WEF and the UN its obvious he was in the way). I really don't care how others react to that statement either. The Durham investigation will either succeed (and give us a few more years of hope) OR just get buried like everything else has the past 20 years. We are on the verge of going into some new era of BS where nothing that has been established here from our forefathers will mean sh!t.

Remember when wingnuts used to cry, “America - love it or leave it’?

Now it’s all “Woe is me and our country is doomed” when a Lefty is President.

Sort of the same for me. However the reasons for not caring are different. Notably different. To keep on about Jan 6 and the big lie is Beating a dead horse. Those who stormed are getting convicted. Trump is teflon Don as usual. He is a senile old pile of shit who's also a sociopath. Hes not going to stop lying. Move on. **** him. I dont care about Durham thing because its literally nothing. Meaningless. No one of note did anything. No one of note will be charged for anything. It's a farce. Why spend more than a nanosecond on something like that.
