My kid has a varsity softball game tonight. She's a freshman and hasn't been getting field time every game. When a particular pitcher is on the mound she takes her spot in centerfield. When the other pictcher is on the mound she sits the bench unless it's a blowout or they want her bat in a particular spot. I have a feeling they will be using the pitcher that puts my kid on the bench but I don't really know. The softnall game is at 5:30, the Pacers game 6:00. Btw, thanks to the assholes who decided nobody cares about the Pacers (true). Earlie there was a risk for severe weather. The chance for rain seems to be diminishing. The Pacers could wrap things up tonight, but it's not like its a game 7.

Side note, my kid on more than one occasion says she doesn't like anyone to come to the games. I'm calling bullshit, I think she likes me to come becuase I don't cheer loudly like her mom or grandma. I'm leaning towards staying home. Bad dad? What say you?

Kid’s game

ALWAYS prioritize the family stuff first. Set the DVD recorder and watch the Pacers later.

Or be sneaky and watch or listen to it on your phone from the stands at your daughter's game. Way, way, WAY less ideal. Make her #1.

I don’t think you can use DVR on fan duel and I think NBA TV is blacked out locally in Indy.

In that situation, the good dad always go to the kid's game for the main purpose of sitting close enough to the dugout so that you can obliquely criticize her closest competition within earshot of the coach:

Huh, our CF isn't getting in the ready position again. Wonder if she's paying attention?

Oh, is that the girl that called the coach a fat bitch? Yeah, she looks like she has an attitude.

Hey, she made another out. Great.

SEE, I knew you played shit like I do!

Everything has a plan behind it and the instant look of being SHOCKED that someone heard (read) you, is a built in canned response, practiced in front of the mirror. (just incase .... and yes it's planned!) :)

If you went to softball, at least you missed a boring Pacer game.
You want excitement? You should have turned on the gunners today. You want excitement? How about the brightest star in the game tomorrow against that little club from bergamo that could. Then tomorrow night you can turn on the note up there in Manitoba. Playing in that little barn. Smallest in the league

Get yourself sorted

I drove back from Chicago tonight and listened to the first half, then flipped it over to NFL channel. What a mistake.

And by the way, I knew you were going to her game regardless.

My son played baseball, basketball and golf from grade school to senior year. Travel ball in baseball and basketball and junior tournaments in golf. Played soccer until I had disagreement with Soccer Federation. Never missed a game or school educational activity.

Edit you will never be sorry. Best times of my life.

And, to add, if you haven't yet used this.......I give it away for free. Like Jonas Salk.

WHEN YOUR KID ASKS YOU WHO YOUR FAVORITE SOCCER/SOFTBALL/BASKETBALL/LACROSSE PLAYER IS.....

The ONLY answer is........YOU.

(and this works better for girls but I'm sure boys remember it too).

You're welcome.
