Team looked sharp in opener against a good SMU team. Freshman Tommy Thompson was a revelation up top. So creative, technical, just a huge surprise to see.... fun!
Soderlund looked pretty good in net. Got caught by a quick low shot from the right side in the first half. Probably should have made the save, but also came up big a few times and did a pretty good job on high balls and set pieces.
On the whole our possession was pretty impressive for week one. Loved the depth and the energy off the bench. And Bushue's leadership is at such a high level. Feeling a fun year coming on...
Goals came from a nice follow header by Femi off a drive that hit maybe crossbar and keeper. The star of that one was Thompson who made a very creative dishing through pass from just outside the 18 when it looked like he was going to shoot. Second goal was a fantastic rug burner drive by Patrick Doody on a set ball from about 20 yards. Beautiful.
