That said, I'd have to agree that any significant civil unrest would change the algebra. Then it would depend heavily on whom people blame for the unrest.

I don't think this helps him. Might dig some heels in, but they were Trumpers regardless. The sliver of voters who could go one way or the other will have to take the fact that he's a convicted felon into account.
If you did not know what the verdict was going to be then you are dumb. Trump was guilty before it started even with made up charges. This is why people are leaving New York dump. I’ve seen several people pondering the possibility of an expedited appeal because of the affect a potentially faulty verdict may have on the election but I don’t see it happening.
Or, give me a minute here, people are found guilty of crimes because they…… committed crimes. Being found guilty when you are guilty seems to be a problem for you.
Meh, I said when this all started the best thing that could happen to Trump was being found guilty in one of these cases. I'm sticking with it.

Of course they don't. The problem is with the presidential election, the election is won within the margins. Anyone that is going to vote for Trump no matter what, will. That isn't where you win or lose elections though. It's always going to come down to the fringe voters and let's be honest, Trump has in no way gained votes since Nov 2020 when he had no criminal charges even pending...... People aren't voting for either clown based on any expectation of what they can do, they're voting for the opponent of the candidate they dislike the most.

Turns out, Florida defers to other states when it comes to convictions in those states, so in this case, they would follow New York law, which states felons lose the right to vote only while they are serving their sentence. So, if Trump is physically in a New York prison on Election Day, he can't vote. Otherwise, he can.

I'm not sure he's gained votes. Rather, Biden has lost votes, but those votes don't automatically go to Trump. It's conceivable turnout for 2024 could be lower than it was for 2020. Or votes for third party candidates could be unusually high.
That is simply not true. People didn't vote for Biden for any reason other than he wasn't Trump. Just like people didn't vote for Trump in 2016 for any reason other than it wasn't Hillary. The same thing will happen again, but people can remain naive. 2022 mid-terms said the loud part for me.

Part of what Merchan takes into account when sentencing is contrition/ remorse right? Trump can't really show remorse because he didn't do anything wrong and it would hurt him politically. But he risks a tougher sentence if he doesn't. Catch 22.

Biden will gain votes from independents and more Dems will likely come out to vote. I'll actually predict more Rs won't vote or will throw it away on a 3rd party candidate because they know this ends badly for them no matter what. Generally, I just don't think the country is going to standby and let a now convicted felon into the WH. Biden's campaign's message could just solely be this, and it will work.
