We got a contender

God I loved Troy’s dumb ass.
Good Troy was fun to watch. Problem was, bad Troy was coming down the court on the very next play. He played for the wrong coach...the last thing Troy needed was a coach whose idea of coaching was yelling "faster!" the entire game. Plus, and already forgot the kid's name (4 star recruit, big kid from Wisconsin who transferred after only a semester) but I thought the rumor was that they were roommates and Troy basically hot boxed him right out of Bloomington ...?

Stay healthy and this team can do anything it wants. 2 of the 3 Tucker gallo Newton stay healthy, watch out.

Rice is a leader and big game player. Missed a few FT but made the important one, and the big shit right before. The steal, behind the back pass was some incredible skill stuff. Rice is probably the best guard in the league.

Kanaan has a lot of potential. He is gonna have to learn he isn’t the go to player. That one three he took was atrocious, can’t do that at IU unless you have hit 3 in a row before that.

Ballo is perfect for us. Not gonna run stuff for him other than high PNR stuff. He is so big! Had a hard matchup today and got put in his place a bit. That is good for him because he isn’t gonna see that again anytime soon. He is about to eat the next few guys thrown at him. The foul to send them to the line for a 1/1 was such a high IQ play.
Gonna be hard for Woody to screw up this team. But it's possible.

Dude you can stop…I’m not a Pu fan. Just not the sunshine pumper. This program has been a huge disappointment for a long time. Woody needs to go and get a proven winner
You constantly talk Purdue. It gets old. Take that BS to G&B. Your act is tiring.

Nope. You just like Purdue's program. That's fine, they do fairly well.
Again…I am an IU fan. I just appreciate how Painter built his program the last few years. If you like Woody’s way better than painter, so be it. I enjoy seeing Indiana kids at Indiana and not Purdue.

He always tried to recruit the best. One easy example is Shawn Kemp. When he turned IU down, IU settled for Matt Nover. By his senior year Nover was really good but he wasn't plan A

More times than not, Knight got any kid from Indiana he wanted

For the 100th time...he didn't "build a program" in the last few years. He had a 7'4", once in a generation unicorn type talent, take his solid program to levels Painter had never seen before. Painter deserves credit for helping Edey develop. He deserves credit for fostering an environment that compelled Edey to stay at Purdue for 4 years. But "pre Edey", Painter didn't really accomplish anything more than the 3-4 failed IU coaches did during the same time span.

If we're going to get a hard on for a different program, lets pick Kansas, or Jay Wright Villanova, or UConn... Or maybe lets just be a better version of IU. Purdue has never been, and never will be, a better version of IU.

I never said anything about Woody. Different topic.

I don't want to be Purdue. And they're not landing any good Indiana kids. You got Ertel, so you can enjoy that.

There are a lot of programs better than IU, yet you pick Purdue to obsess over. That's telling.

No I talk about them because they are here in the state doing better than we are with less talent because Painter builds a team. Woody hasn’t grasped that yet. And who is Ertel?

you keep saying that about Edey but hell they about went to final four with Carson Edwards and going 56-17 those two years.

Go back and look...Pre Edey...they weren't really any better than IU was the last 20 years, in terms of actual accomplishments. And IU has had 4 mediocre coaches, and a serial cheater. Outside of Edey, Purdue has been what Purdue has always been. I suspect they'll get back to that now that Edey is gone.

Just because IU has struggled to find the right coach, doesn't mean we should EVER strive to be like Purdue.

Ok..again I’m not talking exactly on national titles etc..
No reason IU cannot win the way PU has won. Consistent top of the conference performer, while doing it with system guys and development style kids.
On paper IU should be waaaay better than PU this year. Is that going to happen?

Style, how they recruit, etc..
That’s not true at all. Purdue is still doing Purdue things. Getting mid to low level guys. IU always got top talent but had a coach who knew how to get that talent to mesh.(knight) In no way is painter and Purdue comparable. Good or bad. Purdue is unique right now. Now can we/you stfu about Purdue?

Can you not have a discussion about basketball without being a cocksucker?
And Matt Nover, Alford, Jadlow, Meijer, Eyl, Sloan…those guys coming to IU now or PU?

Knight got the “best” kid from Indiana he wanted. Not every kid or just any kid. He lost a few too. Painter isn’t getting those kids. Neither are we. ND is an outlier in this cycle too. We got one tp 50ish kid and Purdue got a nobody.

I'm talking about competing for National Titles. That's what IU's capacity is. Why "lower" that?

Also, its VERY possible this "Purdue Method" you're dripping over will be obsolete here in about 7-8 months. Painter changes his styles and philosophies all the time. Its actually one of the things I admire about him most. I suspect he'll have a team with 2-3 transfers next year, and he'll just say they fit, and they were always Purdue players...something like that. And they'll win 23 games, finish in the top 4 of B10, and lose early in the NCAA. All will be back to normal.

Again, in more ways than just winning games, Edey has been everything for that program. They're now facing the real world, and the real NIL markets... I'm sure Painter will adjust, and they'll be solid. But he won't be Final Four competitive recruiting and building rosters how he currently is. Solid, sure. Final Four good, very unlikely.
