That move doesn’t make much sense for Sunseri. Deshaun Foster is an awful coach and the cost of living in LA is ridiculously high. With the new assistant coach salary pool Sunseri can get a huge raise where he is.

If we can keep 2 out of 3 of some combination of the Cig, Shanahan, and Sunseri, for the next 3 years...we are good. With Cig locked in, we need either Shanahan or Sunseri to stick around. One of them, Cig can replace with high confidence of success. Both of them in that time-frame, alot of moving parts...it becomes tougher to succeed with that much movement in that time-frame.
Match whatever UCLA offers. Tino can become OC when Shanahan leaves for a HC job in the future.
IU can afford to pay Sunseri seven figures now. Is UCLA even committed to football? Do they have a generous NIL fund?
I wonder if Tino wants to be an OC? If I remember Cig sounded like he felt either Tino or Shanahan could do the job but Shanahan asked for the job. Maybe Tino was agreeable then, but might feel more need to advance now.

It makes sense if Tino wants to be the QB coach AND call the plays. I just wonder why they're not after Shanahan. Do they know he's not leaving?
Because UCLA can only offer a lateral position and lesser pay to Shanahan. Would make little sense for Shanahan to leave. Tino on the other hand, does make some sense.
Imho no way he leaves for UCLA. If it was the other west coast schools maybe. UCLA is pretty poor right now. No real fan following etc. they are in many ways in worse shape than IU was.
Shanahan has been with Cignetti dating back to IU-Pennsylvania. Cig give Mike his first paying football job and he has been with him ever since.
He’s leaving per Osterman on Twitter. Done deal. Makes no sense to me but i could be biased.
I can see Sunseri leaving to take an OC job but why UCLA? That is not a program on a strong footing.
He gets the responsibility of calling plays. I get it. Seems like there would be better oppys than UCLA, but idk. Nice weather and still a B1G program.

Football scoop is talking like this is a done deal. The article there says he plans to coach IU through the bowl game.
But moved to OC the same season they had brought Sunseri in.
What I read said he was staying until the end of the year.
Are people really saying being a QB coach is on the same level of an offensive coordinator, at a Big 10 school no less?
This would be a big promotion for him, especially if he has aspirations of becoming a head coach someday.

I don't believe Sunseri had ever held a title higher than Grad Assistant prior to Cig hiring him at JMU. Would have been a stretch to let him call plays as a first big boy job.
In good news every other assistant and the strength coach signed new deals.
He an his wife just announced they are having a baby. Maybe his wife wants to move out to LA. Oh well. Good luck at UCLA. I'm sure Cig will find a good replacement.
I'd be on the phone with Mike Neu right now asking him to fill the empty QB coach vacancy.
Sounds like a good opportunity for Tino. Wish him the best of luck other than when we play them. Hate to loose him but let's not forget, Cig is very involved in the QB's so pretty sure he'll be able to get what he needs for next season.

I would think there's a very good chance JuJu Lewis ends up at UCLA.
He is co-offensive coordinator at IU and only makes $10k less than Bienimy did at UCLA. They must be offering a huge salary increase.
I would guess pay wage is similar but he'll have a much larger role actually calling the plays at UCLA than he would at Indiana. I think we'll feel Sunseri's loss the most when it comes to recruiting.

Co is a title to justify more money. He doesn't have the same responsibilities that Shanahan has.
I'd bet a lot of money he's only leaving if he gets play calling duty.

IU football loses one coach to Big Ten coordinator job, but all other assistants get new deals
Curt Cignetti was given greater resources to keep his staff together, and all but one assistant coach signed new multi-year deals to remain with IU.

I have a sneaking feeling that Tayvon Jackson will go into the portal after the playoff game follows him to UCLA. Yesterday Cignetti did not mention Jackson's name when talking about the younger QBs and that he would sign a portal QB.
Im kind of bummed about this, but I trust Cig to find the right guy. After the season we have had I am not one who will question or suggest who he should hire. I’m looking forward to finding out who the next man up will be.
Dolson has given Cignetti the same assistant coaching budget as Ryan Day over at Ohio State has. With that kind of 💰, attracting Tino's replacement shouldn't be too hard...
And our last QB coach got a P4 OC job. IU is a good place to go.
