Ukraine is in a full blown emergency. It’s a war for its existence. They rightly declared martial law. How could they hold a viable election in this situation?

There are voters that support and will vote for Trump solely because he claims to be a Republican. They know he's a liar and a POS as a person but will overlook it because he's a Republican. The hard core Trumpsters don't care about the party at all. They don't care about maintaining Congress. They won't even think about voting for another Republican for President. At this point I think the best that can be hoped for is a stalemate, with the Russians being totally bogged down like they were in Afghanistan. A final resolution will only likely come once Putin is out of the picture.

Before, we had no plans to enter. Japan attacked us, Hitler declared war. But we developed Lend Lease to help the UK. We did as much as FDR could.

It wasn’t a miserable failure at all. It pushed the Russians back from large amounts of Ukrainian territory and destroyed tons of Russian weapons and inflicted disproportionate numbers of Russian casualties.

I think your last point is especially on point. This is a war of survival for Ukraine, it is not for Russia. Usually that gives the country in Ukraine's position a huge advantage.

It seems to me Putin would be smart to list his final line, the war ends if we keep x. I think some to most Ukrainians on the other side of the line might be willing to end it knowing they are on the other side. Which raises a question, why hasn't Putin done that?

UAW, United Steelworkers, and now this. There are thousands of union members in some battleground states where margins are thin. Union leaders are usually pretty good at rallying the troops, and members in a state like Michigan could put Biden over the top.

I worked for Lexis in Chicago and had to pass through courtrooms on occasion for my job.

Instead of hitting him with fines for violating gag order the judge should make him do what I witnessed a judge do to a rather disruptive defendent: "You will be held in lockup until such time as you can sincerely apologize to this court. Bailiff please escort xxx from the courtroom."

It got everybody's attention.

I was there for the escort out of the courtroom, I never did hear how long the judge let the person sit before they listened to the apology.

There would have been many other races on the ballot, giving them reason to go to the polls. But of those who chose to participate, 16% specifically chose to vote for a candidate other than Trump, one who dropped out over a month ago. And again, we're talking about registered Republicans, not Democrat crossovers playing games with the primary system.
