I was looking forward to him for next year. Seemed to have a knack for the big runs that we didn't get as often from the other guys. Knows the offense. It's a loss. I thought he blocked fine, but must be a reason he was 3rd or 4th. I don't see where we threw to him though. Maybe bad hands.

Weird one. He was in line for a lot of work at the emerging super power in college football.
That's what you have to do. We can coach up the skill player but you can't coach up 40 more lbs and 3 inches taller.

Duke nabbed the #1 player in the portal, QB Darien Mensah from Tulane. I wonder if IU ever looked at him.
Makes more sense that the Duke QB announced he was leaving now. He transferred there from TX and is leaving after just 1 season. They went 9-3 and he played great, so he will land somewhere bigger than Duke I'd presume.

Speaking of big uglies. Hunter Whitenack, sophomore from Illinois is in the portal. 6'6 and 320. I know he was a tackle in HS but played guard at Illinois. He's started 5 games in his first two seasons.

Not sure where you're getting that generalization from.
Any family/kid I know that goes to Ole Miss is from money...OLD money. Some from the northeast, but most from Highland Park/Dallas. It's like a non-Texas SMU.
It was a VERY preppy, monied up, privileged school in the 90s when I dated a girl that went there. 19 year old kids driving around in Mercedes and BMWs were common.
Needless to say, we didn't last but my goodness the fun we had!!! I ran into her in Gatlinburg two years ago and it was fvcking weird. She's still gorgeous 😍.

My brother's kids go to Dallas Jesuit, and just about every one of those kids has SMU and/or Ole Miss on their lists.
Think back in the day there was a thing about Ole Miss girls always winning Miss America (when that was a big deal).
Kid looks completely legit and I believe he'd kill it here. But dang would that upend the QB room.

Ole Miss came into the Western suburbs of Chicago and was handing out $ to kids with good academic standing. Kids were getting half or full tuition off about 4-5 years ago.
And 10 years, or so ago, they and Hugh Freeze came to the south suburbs and handed out lots of $$$ to Laquon Treadwell to play football.
Miss America still is a big deal. Front runner this year is 6'5". He is playing on the San Jose State women's volleyball team.
You are right about the Dallas connection. The last time I was at the Grove there were several tailgate tents from the Dallas area.
Great talent. Just kind of bounced around the league after going in first round to the Vikings in ‘16. When he got hurt his 2nd year at Ole Miss, breaking his leg in kind of a freakish tackle at the goal line, maybe he lost a step and some bounce.

We can’t make our decisions based around how a 19 year old will react. Top programs have multiple 4 or 5 stars on the roster. Let’s bring in talent and not cater to the ego of our 3 star freshmen.

No one knows anything. I have yet to see any predictions as to who IU will land from the portal. Cignetti said no more visits will happen after Saturday afternoon so there isn’t much time for recruiting.
The most impressive thing about his season is he put up good numbers while getting sacked 41 times. With a serviceable OL he could be a really good qb.
Or he's a statue. (I doubt it, but just sayin lol) Or a slow release. Cig and Shanahan would take care of getting rid of the ball on time though.
