Todd talks about what he thinks the IUBB program needs and explains why he high on Dusty May as Indiana's next coach, saying he thinks that "if he is offered the job, he would take it."
I'm afraid your second paragraph says it all.I do get Tom Crean vibes from Dusty May. But of the realistic, more proven P4 coaches out there, he'd be my choice.
I think McCollum is the best candidate. And 5 years from now, when he's dominating at Iowa of all places, we'll all lament missing this opportunity.
But Dusty May will be more than capable of producing really good teams too, I suspect. I just worry that he'll be a guy that won't have IU as a contending team as consistently as "we" would like.
Unless Dusty turns us down and McCollum is the choice. However, I think it’s a bit premature to say that May couldn’t win big to keep IU fans happy. Look what he’s done in one year at Michigan and what he did at FAU taking them to a FF.I'm afraid your second paragraph says it all.
Actually I think it's premature to say he can. That's my point.Unless Dusty turns us down and McCollum is the choice. However, I think it’s a bit premature to say that May couldn’t win big to keep IU fans happy. Look what he’s done in one year at Michigan and what he did at FAU taking them to a FF.
Felon.. But cool.Todd talks about what he thinks the IUBB program needs and explains why he high on Dusty May as Indiana's next coach, saying he thinks that "if he is offered the job, he would take it."

Got pulled out of AH by the sting Police.
Makes him cooler right?
Exonerated.?
I still believe Fisch has nothing to do with him.
Not a good public moment to live through I’m guessing.
But f*ck Fisch right?
Go Hoosiers.
He is younger and much more capable of learning than Crean was. And quite frankly, he's on his way to 25 wins in 3 years in 3 conferences. If he does that it is probably a record. Plus Crean never won 25 games 3 times in a row, let alone in 3 conferences/2 schools.I do get Tom Crean vibes from Dusty May. $$$With May my only question is how to get him to leave UM.
Cash and wanting to coach his alma mater. HopefullyWith May my only question is how to get him to leave UM.
The other thing, besides his coaching, is that I think he must have a good eye for spotting talent. To do what he did at FAU, where he didn’t have 4 or 5 stars available, and now basically rebuilding Michigan in one year is pretty impressive. He is younger and much more capable of learning than Crean was. Also, one of his guards from FAU is a key transfer for Florida this season. Alijah Martin. The other thing, besides his coaching, is that I think he must have a good eye for spotting talent. This could be reason he comes to IU. Davis wanted to go to Michigan but couldn’t transfer in. He ended up with Arkansas. IU much easier to get players in than Michigan. Also, one of his guards from FAU is a key transfer for Florida this season. Alijah Martin.
I checked on it, just because I never knew what happened after those arrests.Felon.. But cool.

Would you have been a 100% no on Bo Ryan at the time Wisconsin hired him?I’m 100% no on McCollum.
Honeslty if it was at IU at the time, probably nobody new what he would end up that goodWould you have been a 100% no on Bo Ryan at the time Wisconsin hired him?
Fantastic!Speaking of coach Knight hilarious Dakich story on Knight always being naked in the locker room enjoy lmao...
No way Cronin is worth $16 million![]()
IU basketball coaching search 2025: Hot board version 2.0
Below is an updated IU basketball 2025 coaching search hot board after more than a week since the program publicly announced it will have a job opening. We continue to show the candidates in four c…www.thedailyhoosier.com
I don't get it Chris Beard tier 2? Mic Cronin has a 16 million dollar buyout no way Indiana is paying that.
Agree on all points, but wasn’t Crean in his early forties when he started here?He is younger and much more capable of learning than Crean was. And quite frankly, he's on his way to 25 wins in 3 years in 3 conferences. If he does that it is probably a record. I think with each day that we don't hear about him getting a new contract, or getting his current contract extended, at Michigan...the chances increase he's our guy. Also, one of his guards from FAU is a key transfer for Florida this season. Alijah Martin.

I'm still high on him. Yesterday's Drake loss, though, is one of my main concerns with him. His pace of play, at times, allows teams to linger and stay in games...and it leaves open the possibility his teams losing to lesser teams they shouldn't lose to. Obviously he wins many, many more of them than he loses. Which is why I'm still high on him. But without much info on what his early NWM teams played like to be as dominant as they were, and then overall what his thoughts would be on how he'd operate at IU... I'd have to admit I'd prefer someone that ran a higher scoring, more dynamic offense.I’m 100% no on McCollum.
That’s a concern but also the spotlight itself could be a concern. Not even being an assist at a high major program and seeing how they operate is a concern.I'm still high on him. As TMP has posted...one of the most easily identifiable predictors of NCAA tournament success, is having an elite offense.
That part doesn't really concern me. I think his "floor", basketball wise, at IU, would be solid NCAA tourney level team...that maybe doesn't have the horses to compete for Natty's. If his personality isn't a good fit, I would think that would end up getting flushed out, and we wouldn't be "stuck with him" for more than 4-5 years. If he were to make the NCAA tournament all 4-5 of those years, it would be one of the best 4-5 year stretches for IU basketball since the mid/late 90s.That’s a concern but also the spotlight itself could be a concern. Not even being an assist at a high major program and seeing how they operate is a concern.
What are these vibes you reference - quirky personality/habits, the one-time final four trip, small stature, etc.? In May, I see someone with more intellect and common sense than Crean.I think with each day that we don't hear about him getting a new contract, or getting his current contract extended, at Michigan...the chances increase he's our guy.
One of the main things he's showing this year at Michigan, is his ability to win close games. And that his overall program, style, etc... can be successful over an entire P4 schedule. Both were concerns, that he's showing might not need to be concerns.
His early FAU years are still a concern...I do still get a "Crean vibe" with him. But I'm warming up to him being our next coach.
All of the above. Some of the stuff he runs, and the breakdowns his teams had last year, and even for Michigan this year, are head scratchers. What are these vibes you reference - quirky personality/habits, the one-time final four trip, small stature, etc.? Of the likely candidates, I have May is priority number 1That part doesn't really concern me. I think that's where I'd be at too, at this point.Of the likely candidates, I have May is priority number 1
