These are not political prisoners

As Obama says elections have consequences. Trump isn't going to care what anyone thinks he doesn't need to run for election again.

Fact Check: True.“I don't give a damn what Democrats say about Trump's Jan. 6 pardons and commutations,” says Mike Davis, who founded the conservative Article III Project. “We won, they lost. F**k you.”

Not at all.

If my house was locked and boarded up and someone was dumb enough to break a window and try to come through it, they're catching a 40 cal in the head. I'm not waiting to see if they're armed or not and neither are officers behind barricaded doors with members of our government behind them.
Fair. But if you opened the door and waived them inside you would have no legal defense.

It’s not just Democrats who are aghast at that.

He really should’ve followed through on what his own VP said he would do: avoid any kind of clemency for those who engaged in violent acts on 1/6.

There’s no defending the assault of police officers.

Trump freed more criminals with the stroke of a pen than have come through the border in the last year.
by total arrests, no
by arrests for violent crimes, no

by convictions for violent crimes or even advancement to criminal trial charged with violent crimes, you may be right

So we should have blown away all of the BLM rioters. They were dumb too
Depends on what you were protecting the BLM protestors from getting to. Were you blocking them from a large group of people that they were trying to actually kill, a group for whom you were specifically hired and trained to protect?

Think it through. You can do it! I believe in you!

As I recall, she climbed through a broken window into the Speaker's office and was warned by armed police not to do so. She disobeyed this order, continued the climbing, and was then shot.

Look, when police are in a volatile situation -- especially when they're outnumbered and feeling threatened -- you'd better follow every one of their orders carefully and slowly. If you don't, there's a pretty good chance you'll either get shot or hit with something less lethal.

I'm sure the cop who shot her didn't go looking for somebody to shoot that day. But she and the other marauders created that dangerous situation, not the police.

And all of this would apply to BLM rioters, too. If you're putting cops in a dangerous situation, it's not unlikely that they'll be using their weapons to protect themselves. I don't think they're considering the underlying cause of why people are rioting. Do you?

I wonder how many times VPM has said "follow instructions if you don't want to get shot."

They aren’t going to find anything are they Dems? 😊

This is going to be fun. I guess they have videos from inside the D.C. jail also coming. Let the lawsuits begin!
Bring in Cheney, Kinzinger, Epps, etc. Hook up the battery and jumper cables and find what they know and when they knew. You can’t plead the 5th if you’ve been pardoned. 😁

How do feel about the rioters who burned police stations and federal buildings and assaulted police officers and burned and looted private property. Yet no one has gone out of their way to find these guys.

Those rioters were smart enough not to film each other doing damage and then uploading the vids to Facebook.

A few months ago my daughter’s classmate wrecked the bathroom at their school. He sprayed his name WAS HERE on the wall.

Makes her grades even more disappointing

Jesus, what is with people these days? If I even stink up the joint more than I think is normal, I'll put on a Groucho Marx on the way out the door. Not going to put my goddamn signature on the wall.

Her school is a blast. It is so diverse. Black. White. Hispanic. Asian. Catholics. Jews. Rich kids. Poor kids. So much fun goes on up there. I think that’s part of her problem bc she’s easily distracted. So am I.

I will say this I am surprised you don't agree with me. She was unarmed and had not attacked anyone physically. And that deserves death in your mind?
I said at the time it was both tragic and justified. I stand by that. I did not say she "deserved" anything. I stand by that.

You, however, seem to relish doling out "deserve" to people based on your political affiliation. You should probably move away from that.

This post is a great demonstration of what I mean when I say that Donald Trump being the target has clouded people's judgment about it.

What does that matter? Something has either been properly vetted or it hasn't. And for intel pros to express a view on something that hasn't been properly vetted is reckless.

It doesn't become less reckless by complaining that they weren't given enough time. If they had properly vetted it (and weren't being disingenuous), they'd have never written that letter.

As DNI Ratcliffe pointed out at the time, they had no reason to believe the laptop was a Russian op.

What in the world does "contemporaneously accurate" mean?

They were wrong. Are you aware of something that was cited as having been pulled from the hard drive that was fabricated? Because you seem to be suggesting you are.

Whether or not the intel people knew what they were suggesting was false only they can say. That does matter -- it's the difference between knowingly lying and making a false declaration due to insufficient evidence. But the only two explanations here are dishonesty and irresponsibility. And neither one of them is good.

Did you notice that arguments their lawyer made are (a) they have a 1A right to say whatever they want (even if it's false) and (b) they included the words "all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation" as a caveat?

While that's a tepid defense on its own, it seems important to note that the "earmarks" caveat was missing when their letter was cited by Joe Biden as proof that the laptop was a "Russian plant" and "garbage". Here....

Keep in mind when you watch that video two things: (1) Joe Biden almost certainly knew when he said it that the laptop was genuine...unless he was so derelict as to not even ask his own son about it, and (2) the genesis of the letter was his own campaign. Mike Morell has testified that he was approached by Antony Blinken about putting it out.

I'm certainly not defending anything and everything Donald Trump has ever said or claimed. I'm more than happy to call out his bullshit when he's spewing it. Have in the past, will in the future.

But, in this instance, what you're saying is precisely backwards. The laptop was authentic. And I'm not aware of anything that has been reported as coming from it that was not authentic. The Russians didn't have the first thing to do with it.

So, yes, the 51 intel vets are being punished for having propagated disinformation.....even if their defense is that they tacked on a disclaimer. The entire purpose of the letter was to provide cover for the Biden campaign and the media to denounce it as fraudulent.

But the laptop wasn't fraudulent. Their suggestion that it was a "Russian information operation" was.
Sorry, @crazed_hoosier2 I just saw this. I will be happy to break it down with you. Please be patient. I admire your ability to write. Unfortunately, I will be slower to respond to each point.

Donald Trump is not a victim of misinformation. Let's start there. The underlying October surprise was that there was evidence of a quid pro quo by the Biden's. Correct? That was the claim.

This is what really bothered people on the right. The DOJ launched their largest ever criminal probe into 1/6. Ever. That’s completely outrageous. For a protest that turned into a 2 hour riot.

Meanwhile during the summer of 2020 we watched cities burn while perpetrators walked off with a slap on the wrist from blue city prosecutors.

That disparate treatment, extreme sentencing (that psychopath Chutkan heard a lot of the cases) and over charging was a blight on the national consciousness.

I wish Trump had been a little more discerning in handing out pardons and commutations. But when the DOJ was aiming to indict 2K+ people, I can understand him for throwing his hands up and saying “**** it, let them all go” and putting an end to the nonsense once and for all.

I don’t want Bondi’s office looking into each case, one by one, to determine if people were treated fairly. When we know the vast majority weren’t.

Unlike the last administration, this DOJ should have bigger fish to fry.

The timing matters because the Trump October surprise was an attempt to disinform/lie about the contents of the laptop. They waited until October to sow confusion and discontent. Hoping that their claims would be disseminated by right-wing media without allowing time for a rebuttal.

We've had time to verify Trump’s claims about the contents of the laptop now. Were they accurate? Of course not.

Additionally, remember how Sadam had biological weapons? How long did Bolton and other's have to vet that? Remember the discussions about how intelligence was graded and not perfect? How would you expect the 51 to vet the contents of the laptop in a week or two. The timing by Trump sped the process. They were incorrect about the validity of the laptop, but were correct about the invalidity of Trump’s claims.

And given such short notice, why wouldn't they think that Russia was involved? Trump and Rudy were both involved with Lev. I won't bother linking, but I can if needed?

"Contemporaneously accurate", is what I just described. It takes empathy. The 51 were correct at the time. And you can't just dismiss a caveat. At least not without being disingenuous yourself.

The 51 gave an opinion with a caveat. Trump lied about the contents along with everything else. "Contemporaneously and ever after inaccurate." Ask Lev(the admitted Russian agent). Another of the best people.

Btw, Rudy's tell is when he raises his eyebrows and bugs his eyes out. He lies without doing it, but everytime he does it, he's lying. Everytime. Horrible poker player. 119 million for lying about the wrong shit. Trump repeated the lies to the Georgia SoS.
