The Music Thread

And for those that know the B-town band and how two artists one from Gainesville and Dale Lawrence from B-town created this music sending tapes to one another. And a bonus track from another Bloomington band, The Mysteries of Life. Jake from MOL also played with a later version of the Vulgar Boatmen.

So funny to see how irritated Donald Fagen is to be lumped into this genre. The viral video going around now with him being called by the producer and asking to interview Donald, and when he finds out it was for a yacht rock doco, and then telling the guy to go **** yourself. Too funny. But I think he’s wrong. Steely Dan does fit the genre, even if they are way headier than the rest.

Dammit. Fell in love again.

Here is a sample:

I recently began participating with an all-Prine band recently, even though I was mostly, if not entirely, unfamiliar with his music. I still have some massive blind spots in my musical knowledge. I think it’s because I prefer music that is beautiful sounding, as opposed to lyrical brilliance, and JP’s tunes lean towards the lyrical beauty. But they’re not limited to their lyrical beauty. Just stating the obvious here, his music is incredible. Better late than never I guess.
